My HATTQAD Decade of Dreams Trip Report **Updated 7/20** - Page 48 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I really think I need to get me some Tonga Toast........dang it looks sooooooo good! You mean the Princess has never seen this guy before? I think the goodbyes is the one thing I am dreading about my Oct trip. I fear once I meet my PP's buddies in person I will never want to leave WDW.
"Only get one maple for your father. And the rest chocolate or chocolate with nuts." Now this is even funnier when you know that my DF doesn't like chocolate ( I know!! ). DM doesn't want to share with poor DF.
I just caught this and there's maple fudge I'd rather have maple over chocolate as well. Where did you find maple fudge? I'll go back to see if you mentioned where you bought it.

What a wonderfully fun last day! And the fact that you kept saying you'd see folks again before long wasn't so sad. The view from your CR room was so ! But I'm not sure if I would bond with the CR or not -- I'm more of a WL and AKL girl.

Great update and pix, sorry it had to end, but I'm glad you get to go again "right away". I got to see the Stitch Show in the shade of the TTA, so maybe it wasn't so bad for me. Plus we were all newbi-fied, so we liked it I feel kinda special knowing that I got to see it before it got canned...
Waiting for your final thoughts, you rock star you - you mean people don't recognize you at the airport counters?
I mentioned my suspicions to Heather at the time and she agreed!
of course I did . . . as Brandon says "its the only place on earth where all the princes grow up to be queens"
I totally played the "celebrity incognito" card, Lorie! And I'll be there in December with bells on, with as many of my buds as possible. Big stars like me have to have an entourage, don't you know!
I now fully expect to get entourage membership cards in december
That show was an epic FAIL!
I wouldn't have stood through it again--and stitch is my favorite!
I hate reading about the last day of a trip but when there are so many goodbyes it is even sadder Glad though that you were able to spend a nice portion of the day with friends and enjoying some more rides.
You mom is on the top of my list...FUDGE - there is nothing like Disney fudge, that is always the last thing I pick up as we are leaving (and a tin is just fine, you can never have enough )
Glad you were able to stratch out on your flight home (much better then your seat partner on your flight to the UK )

I miss Tonga Toast . Great last day at MK. I too LOVE that picture of the castle. I swear the clouds look like they are moving when I look at it.... Hmmm should I be worried about that? I showed DH some of the veiws from your balcony and I think we may have moved CR up on our "places we must stay in at Disney" list. Would Love to wake up to that every morning.
Stitch Show: Check out the guns on the dud… err, chick with the blue hair!
Favorite photo:
I woke up in time to get off at the B side, which is the first stop. There was a long line to check my suitcase and a minute or so after I’d joined the line, I had a surprise encounter with Cindy! She got a picture which she posted earlier in the TR. After she left, everyone in line was looking at me like I was a celebrity.
Sharon, you me up! You definitely deserve an award for a lengthy but hilarious TR!
Glad I skipped the Stitch show, but I thoroughly enjoyed your description of the androgynous dancers!
And I absolutely the photo you took of the castle your last day. In fact, I'm sorry I didn't see it before I finalized my "snapbook" of the DoD celebration, because I would have totally stolen -- er, borrowed -- it and would have shamelessly claimed to have taken the picture myself.
And when Aunt Vera finished taking the "sleepy-eyed" photo of you & me in the Orlando airport and we started walking away, she looked over her shoulder and noted that everybody in line with you appeared to be speculating on your celeb status. As well they should, Your Highness!
Thanks for your continued postings in this TR -- you've brought May back to us in the middle of summer!
Considering that I also love bananas, fudge, bacon, Tonga toast, and ToT, I'm thinking Cindybelle and Princess Sharon better hook up on a future trip to that magic place! Later, dude!

Thanks for the TR. I have enjoyed reading both of your adventures at the same time. Your pic of the castle is very good. Don't recall noticing it from that side before. I have spent so much time reading TRs by others that I have been lazy in doing mine from Mousefest 2008. Guess it is too late now.

I've seen him before, I just always forget where the heck he is. And the best way to say goodbye to the PP buddies is to know when you'll be seeing them again.

Maple walnut fudge, actually. It's my favorite. There are a bunch of places to get fudge, but my favorite is in the MK from the Confectionery. I guess they all sell the same fudge, but to me, it tastes best coming from the MK. If I don't get it at the MK, I get it from Goofy's Candy Co. at DTD or the candy shop (can't think of the name right now) at DHS.

I feel a little bad about the Stitch Show bashing. It's not really terrible. Just cheesy. But yeah, I do feel a little special at having seen such a short-lived show.

Cindy, this is actually on the short side for my TRs. I should've been a little faster with the updates so you could've used my photo. I'll be happy to send it to you if you want. Just PM me! And I'm sure we'll meet again at Disney. I'll save you a seat on TOT!
