As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

But that $520 was from the AAA site?! I don't understand why she couldn't figure it out or just agree to honor that rate?! At least in the end it worked out in your favor.

The rate on the AAA site was 230.00 pp. I showed it to her and she just shrugged her shoulders and said the difference was probably tax. It just didn't make any sense, Colleen. It really was all for the best, though!
So sorry that you had such a rough time at AAA as it's suppose to be a fun experience whenever you plan travel for leisure. It sounds like working with the public isn't Deborah's specialty. Glad it all worked out in the end and you got your discount! I used Undercover Tourist for Disney ticket and have always found them a pleasure to work with.
Congrats on getting the DC tickets at an even better price! Mean Deborah! Pixies that Andy finds a job soon!
Thanks, Marnie!!

Well!! This update started out as the title states but went nuts from there!!
Over the Labor Day holiday, we had a big BBQ on Monday. Dave, Adrienne, Megan, Bob and Lisa came and we had a ball!! After a great meal and a couple of glasses of wine, Bob and Lisa left because Lisa is a teacher and was starting school on Tuesday.
That left us and the Adlers. We started talking about vacation and Megan piped up and said, " You know, I could get off from the 3rd to the 7th of November and join you guys for part of the trip!".
Initially, Muffin and I were very enthusiastic about this idea. It would be company for Katie and Muffin told Meg if she was serious, he would go downstairs and check on airfare. She said she was.
Next thing I know, Muffin booked her airfare on American and even changed Katie's so that they could fly down together. They are on a 10:35 AM flight and we are still on the Southwest 10:50 AM flight. So far, so good, right?!
Megan's birthday is November 7th, so I told her I would buy her Discovery Cove ticket for her present. I went on Undercover Tourist and took care of that. Then she turned to me and said, "I know Katie is working for most of the time that I will be there, so I am looking forward to just hanging out with you."
This sounded great until I realized yesterday morning that I had a couple of F&WF events booked and, yes, they were the non refundable kind. My brain started whirring and I picked up the phone to call my friends at Disney Dining.
I must be pixie protected this trip because I got a wonderful CM. I explained the situation and she first looked to see if I could add Megan to either event. Both were booked solid. I told her that left me in a pickle because I couldn't just tell Megan that I was dissing her for a couple of hours each day.
Next, she looked to see if there were any other events open on November 5th or 6th for two people. Again, she was unsuccessful in her mission.
She then told me without me even asking that she would joyfully (that really is what she said) waive the no refund policy and credit my money I paid for these events back to my Disney Visa!!
Next, I had to call Megan and see if she was even interested in some Disney time. I ran the plan by her of going to DS after Discovery Cove with Katie and she loved that! Then I asked her what else she wanted to do. She immediately said that she would like to go to WDW and asked about ticket prices.
A two day one park ticket would cost 199 bucks plus tax and a two day park hopper would cost her 259 bucks plus tax. She went for the park hopper because she said she wanted to see what we could do in two days. . I told her that if she could spring for that, I would pay the rest of her expenses. She readily agreed.
Now I had to go back to the WDW website and first purchase her park hopper and then, once again, redo my plans. I worked on a number of scenarios:
The first one was to go to AK/DHS on Sunday, and then MK/E on Monday. No matter how I worked this, it was just too much running around.
Muffin could see that I was pulling my hair out and told me that I was completely released from any evening activities with him and Katie if that would help. He also said that he really didn't know if Megan would be comfortable hanging out with his customers or not, so he was totally fine with this solution.
That then opened up a lot more possibilities!!
I looked at what was available for dining and sort of worked backwards. I think I came up with a pretty good plan:
On Sunday, November 5th, Meg and I will head over to Narcoossee's for a 9:50 AM brunch. We will check out the shopping area at the GF and then hop on a bus to DHS. We have a Fantasmic! dinner package at the HBD at 4:00 PM.
On Monday, November 6th, I was able to add Megan to my 8 AM Crystal Palace ADR. We will spend the morning in MK and then head to the F&WF. We have an Eat to the Beat dining package at Via Napoli booked for the 8 PM Boyz to Men concert!! We both love this group and we both love pizza!! This is also a new venue for me and Muffin can't eat here anyway!!
We will stay for Illuminations and that will give Megan two nighttime shows in as many days!!
The next morning, I am still heading to AKL bright and early for my Senses Of Africa tour and Megan will go to the last day of the show with Muffin and Katie. The girls have an afternoon flight home and Muffin will catch up with me at AKL later that day.
Whew.
P.S. I was also able to rework the Cali Grill back in later in the trip!!
P.P.S. We have no plans for November 3rd other than a nice dinner.
Whew, my head is spinning from those changes! For a minute, I was worried that you were going to say you made all those changes and purchases, and then Megan changed her mind about going. Glad to hear that wasn't the case! It all sounds like a blast to me!!
My head is spinning too!
The changes sound awesome and it's nice that you have Megan to pal around with for a couple days while Muffin and Katie are busy at the trade show.

Lot of crazy changes but seems all will work out to your advantage! Glad you were able to get the refund on the F&W Festival events, but I'm sure you're a bit disappointed that you won't be doing these as I know you were looking forward to them!
