Fall, Firsts, Food And The Final Frontier TR - UPDATED 11/11 - COMPLETE!! - Page 47 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great pictures from Disney Springs! Glad you enjoyed Morimoto again!
Glad you enjoyed the photos as this eatery deserves extensive coverage! A lot of things are better the second time around!

I'm glad you shared the photos of the walkway across to the Disney Springs resort area, as I was curious about that. One time, years ago, my family walked from Downtown Disney to the Doubletree to pick up a rental car on a really hot day. It felt like it took forever, but we probably didn't walk the most efficient route, and there was not a walkway over the road at that time, as far as I know.

Glad I could help so you could figure out the logistics and where things are. From the beginning of the Marketplace (Earl of Sandwich) at bottom of bridge to the B Resort took me about 10 minutes. The Doubletree is next door.

Friday, October 21st (Part I) I woke up at 7am, but wasn’t up this early for rope drop at Hollywood Studios. Instead, I had something else planned and at my resort. I would be having a spa treatment at the Aveda B Indulged Spa at my resort in a couple of hours.
After getting ready for today, I went downstairs to The Pickup and got my usual boring breakfast of a coffee, slice of pound cake and a strawberry yogurt, which I brought back to my room to enjoy. I don’t have to check in at the spa for my 9 am appointment until 8:45 am, so I still had some time as it’s only 8:15 am. I just spent the time watching TV and making sure I had everything I needed for my day at Hollywood Studios.
Shortly, I went downstairs to the spa to check in. It’s located outside the back of the resort, where the pool and bar are located. When I arrived there, the doors were locked, but someone was inside, so I was let in. I checked in and filled out the waiver. Today, I would be having their signature facial as well as another add on with a non-surgical facelift. This wouldn’t be cheap, but I’d be getting the Mousesavers.com 20% discount. Once, all this was done, I met my therapist Rebecca, who gave me a robe and slippers and showed me where the men’s lounge was.
Once I was ready Rebecca led me to the room for my facial. The two procedures were 50 and 20 minutes each. They were combined, back and forth as she informed me they would be. It was a very relaxing treatment which I enjoyed immensely. So much so, that during this, I began to doze off a bit! I think that’s a good sign of a good procedure and relaxing time! I was very impressed with her and she did such a good job with my treatment. What a great way to start the day!
Once, we were finished she gave me a glass of ice water with lemon, which was quite refreshing. I got changed and returned to the counter to pay my bill. There was one problem with my bill as it didn’t reflect the 20% discount! Not what I wanted to see! It took some working out with them and my credit card and finally all was good.
I returned to my room at 10:45 am and decided to take care of a few things before going to Studios. My first FP+ for the day wasn’t until 12:45 pm. I did some packing for the flight home tomorrow, which didn’t take long as most things were still in my bag. Just a matter of reorganizing for the most part. I also called Mears Transportation to make a shuttle pick up for tomorrow at 3:30 pm. You can only make these the day before and never has been a problem.
It was closing in on noon time and I went downstairs to wait for a Disney Springs bus to Hollywood Studios, which should arrive close to 12 pm. The wait wasn’t long and a bus arrived close to noon! I arrived at Studios around 12:15 or so.
After scanning my Magic Band, my first business was my first FP+ of the day and The Great Movie Ride. Knowing what I know now is that this would be my last ever experience on this attraction. I am going to miss this so much!!!
Before arriving at the GMR, the Star Wars March of the First Order show was just beginning, so I watched for a while. I enjoy this even though it’s relatively short.
Storm Troopers and Chewbacca returning to their barracks after show
The Great Movie Ride is just behind the stage to the Star Wars show and I walked over there to use my first FP+, which was just entering its’ window. Probably, a good idea to see the show instead of waiting for my window.
I scanned my Magic Band and I entered the Chinese Theatre for the attraction. There weren’t many people scanning their bands, but it was quite crowded once I got inside the theatre, but not terrible. The wait was about ten minutes before I boarded.
The show begins and which side will I have…..Western or Gangster?
I had the gangster side, which I have experienced most times on this ride. I took some photos of the gangster portion, but they didn’t come out well. I have some others for the rest of the ride.
The Wizard of Oz portion and Munchkin Land, which is my favorite part of the ride. Brings back so many childhood memories watching this on TV every year.
Dorothy and her gang!
Soon another great time on this attraction had come to an end and would be my last! I walked to Tower of Terror for my next FP+. The sight that greeted me was an unwelcome surprise as the FP+ line snaked a good 50 feet outside the entrance to the queue. Not what I wanted to see. I talked to a CM who said the regular line was not being used as some of the elevators were down and were just honoring FP+ currently. The entire ride had been down just prior to this. I didn’t want to wait this long in the FP+ line, so I decided to return a bit later, while my window was still open. I think I spent the time walking around the area and got a coke or something.
Shortly, I returned to Tower of Terror and the FP+ line was much shorter, but the standby line was still not open. The FP+ wait was longer than usual but I was in the hotel in about 15 minutes, so not horrible!
Not inside yet, but shortly!
Making progress with daylight ahead, just around the corner!
Finally, inside, while we wait to enter the library
After, the show in the library I walked to the queue and chose the first boarding area. The line was long, but being a single rider I got on before most! I was in row two, which was fine. I enjoyed this as much as ever as it changes with each ride, which I love. It’s my favorite attraction in Studios and I never get enough of this!
The view down Hollywood Boulevard after exiting Tower of Terror
I had one more FP+ today, but wasn’t for a couple more hours. I had a lunch ADR coming up before this, but had some time before I needed to go there, which would be a first experience for me. I wanted to try Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano. I’ve read and heard mixed reviews of this eatery and hoping mine would be on the positive side.
I needed to kill a bit of time, so I decided to watch the March of the First Order show again. I just can’t get over how loud the show is with the pulsating bass sound! Once, this was over I began to walk to the Streets of America part of the park, where Mama Melrose’s is located. It was about 2:15 pm and my ADR is at 2:30 pm, so I had time to get there and not an overly long walk!
NEXT: Did I Make The Right Decision?

What a relaxing way to start your day! I've been glad we made time for one last ride on The Great Movie Ride. Luke had heard rumors so we knew we wanted to do it on our April/May trip.
A spa treatment is always a great way to start the day!!! Did your non surgical facelift work?! Do you look and feel ten years younger?!
I, too, will miss the GMR, Dave!! I hope you enjoy your lunch!!
That sounds like a lovely, relaxing start to your day.
It was very poignant reading about your last ride on the Great Movie Ride and a good reminder that we should always go on the rides and attractions we love whenever we're at Disney, as you just never know when those things may sadly close.

Definitely the way to start the day! Smart move on Luke's part and I'm glad I got the GMR in on my trip, not knowing it was on the way out! Only a week left for it!

It was a great start to the day and quite refreshing and relaxing! I felt younger at the time but still looked the same, but still enjoyed it! GMR is a big loss for me and glad I got to do it on my trip!

It was and I know how you enjoy your spa time and treatments!
That's a good point you make about this. Unfortunately, it's not always possible to get everything in on a trip with your schedule, long lines and/or lack of a FP+ for an attraction!

Great way to start the day off with a spa treatment! Glad you were able to ride GMR one more time! Sorry for the wait at ToT! Can't wait to hear about Mama Melrose!
