Taggin' Along Compliments of Disney! - Page 47 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

So funny how Hope has been on Peter Pan, but hasn't seen it. But, she was so cute and looked like she had a lot of fun on the carrousel. Love the pink tees too!
I just found your TR today and I'm really enjoying it! Your DD is so adorable and I love that your DM enjoys Disney as much as you do! Can't wait for more.
Great day so far at MK. Sorry Hope still hasn't seen Peter Pan. Third times the charm!
Never thought of it that way...hope the third time is a charm!

After you said that I went back and looked at the picture...she does look big there! Wow...must have been the angle on that one.

YOu look so cute in your pink shirts!
Glad you were able to get a shot without the crane. That thing isn't exactly picture pretty.
POTC is a perfect ride all around. It's relaxing and cool...just perfect. And I don't think I've ever seen pirate Goofy either now that you mention it. The crane was awful and I'm glad the photographer could work around it. Later that day it was gone, so that's just the kind of luck we have.

Thanks...she loves to dance. She just didn't want to do it by herself this time.

again.... those pink shirts!
for the tip on where to find some good sweet tea...next to diet coke, it's my fav!!
Can't wait to try POTC....(for the first time )
Hope the weather didn't get too bad ....hurry back....I can't wait to read more!!
That sweet tea is soooo good. It's something different when you're sick of soda. I wish more places would serve it. Like I said on your thread...I still can't believe you've never been on POTC...you need to ride it at least twice when you go.

That crane wasn't there by the time we made it to MagicKingdom. I think our first MK day was Sept 29th. By the way as always I love all your pictures! The Goofy one is super cute!! We really enjoyed all the fall decorations too...it looks so pretty! I agree about POTC it is a favorite & HM too! They are awesome! It's just not a Disney trip without riding them!!
Unique...maybe, but an eye sore...definitely. Lucky you that the crane was gone, I guess they were just getting some work done before the weekend???

She loves that carousel, and her curls...I hope she keeps them as she gets older. You know, she wasn't scared at all. She's still probably too young to realize what's going on, so I'll keep taking her on it until she says no...which is her favorite word by the way. It was Dale...big red nose that you can't miss.

Sometimes she does and sometimes she doesn't, but when she's really tired it's not a problem at all.

You guys looked so cute in your matching shirts.
Thanks so much! She may look cute, but this weekend she threw such a fit because she was sooo tired...the devil really came out.

We actually put the ornament on the tree this past weekend and she kept pointing to it saying "Mickey". I showed her her name on the back, but she had no idea what it was.

Thanks for joining in! As much as I love traveling with my DH, I actually like going to WDW with my mom more.

We didn’t know how much time we had before the rain started, but we decided to keep on going. First, we decided to ride the Carousel again since Hope had so much fun on it the last time. This time my mom wanted on her own horse so Hope sat on my horse with me, or you could say I sat on Hope’s horse with her…either way we were sitting together.
When the ride was over we headed on over to Snow White’s Scary Adventure leaving our stroller parked at the Carousel. There was no line for SW so I knew we had plenty of time to make it off the ride before the rain started. Hope told me she thought she could pull the sword out of the stone, so I decided to let her give it a try. Sadly my little girl wasn’t strong enough to get that thing out of there, but she did have fun playing around.
At one point I looked up from the camera and saw the whole handle of the sword in her mouth!!! Mom, were you not paying attention to what she was doing?!? Geesh…it’s not like I can pour hand sanitizer down her throat!
Anyway, after she digested her fair amount of nastiness, we made our way over to SW. I wasn’t sure how she was going to do on this ride, you know with the evil queen and all, so I just figured if she started freaking out we wouldn’t that again. But nope, she was all good...just taking it all in.
Still no rain so we headed on over to Winnie the Pooh, but you can see how gloomy it was starting to get.
Now, the stroller parking for this ride is directly across from the ride, there is no cover, it’s just out in the open waiting for whatever may happen. I hesitated about leaving it, but my mom said it would be fine. The CM standing at the entrance to the ride sees my apprehension and tells me, “It never rains until around 4:30. You can set your watch to it.” At this time it was almost 2pm, so either this CM was really good or she had no idea what she was talking about. I decided to leave it and just pray that the rain waited until we were done.
While we were waiting in line I got a phone call from Dawn asking if we wanted to meet them for lunch, but we still weren’t that hungry so we passed. However, she did mention that it was drizzling a little bit. She was by the HM, so now I was starting to panic a bit, but I didn’t want to get out of line because Hope was too excited about riding this ride.
We only waited for about 10 minutes before we were loaded into our honey pots and off for our many adventures. She loved this ride, and by loved, I mean LOVED! I guess this one took the place of Small World because that was under refurb while we were there. We knew we would have to ride this one again before we left.
We exited the ride and I notice the ground had a few smatterings of drops, but that was it. I thought, maybe that CM was right, she’s pretty good. It was still looking all grey, so we thought it would be a good idea to head on over to Mickey’s Philharmagic. This time I parked our stroller under the overhang outside of the exit, and asked the CM if they would move the stroller once it was parked. He said no, that most likely they would try to get all of the other strollers under there if it started to pour. So I felt comfortable leaving it there. As soon as we walked into the entrance to the ride the heaven’s opened up and it started pouring! So much for that other CM being right about it raining at 4:30 because it was only 2:30 now…good thing I didn’t need to reset my watch. I couldn’t believe how lucky we got with that…perfect timing.
Again, I wasn’t too sure how Hope would do with this, but I grabbed her a pair of glasses anyway, and it wasn’t too long before we were sitting in the theater. She was so cute…she would keep them on for a bit, and then when something would happen she didn’t like she would take them off really quick. Then she’d want to put them back on again, and this went on and on and on. A couple of times she even tried to reach for something, and when I knew the water or air would be shot at us I covered her little face so she wouldn’t get too freaked out. When we left the theater the rain had stopped, but it had rained so hard they were sweeping the water off the walkways.
Mom and I were now getting , but not hungry enough for a big meal, we just wanted a little snack to hold us over until dinner. After much thought we decided on a couple of dole whips. The skies still weren’t looking that good, but we headed over there anyway.
It started sprinkling a little bit while I was standing in line, but it held off until I finished ordering our dole whips and was able to seek shelter. We sat in that little area right next to Aloha Isle and enjoyed our snack while we waited for the rain to stop.
Hope really enjoyed her ice cream, and I think we have a new dole whip fan on our hands.
While we waited I could tell Hope was getting sleepy again, so we got her to lie down and by then the rain had stopped enough for us to start walking around again. We finally got another call from Dawn and they were on their way over to Tomorrowland to ride Space Mountain, so we made our way over there to meet them. I knew my mom wanted to ride this, but she said she would sit with Hope while I got on the ride. Once we were all together again, we made our way into the line. We didn’t have to wait long at all because Brian’s father had a Guest Assistance Pass since he was using a scooter due to his bad knees.
I know some people didn’t think the new update to SM was that good, but I actually liked the music being piped into the ride. Granted I wish they would have done it the way it is for RnRC, but I thought it was a nice addition anyway. When we got off the ride Hope was still sleeping, but I didn’t want to leave my mom again while I got on more rides. So I thought it would be a good idea to get on the People Mover (yes, it’s still the People Mover to me) so she could keep sleeping while we all got on a ride together. She slept through the entire thing, and was still sleeping when we got off the ride. She finally woke up when I tried putting her back in her stroller, but that was a pretty good nap if you ask me.
We all wanted to do Buzz next, but this ride makes you wait the amount of time that the standby line is showing as a wait time if you have a GA pass. They give you a little FP with the return time and then you’re allowed to enter in that line to get on the ride. That was fine with us, so while we waited I decided it was time to take one for the team and get on the Tea Cups with Dawn’s girls. They had been wanting to ride this, but no one would do it with them, and since I don’t get sick on the rides, I volunteered.
You can see it was still not looking good as we made our way over to the ride, but again, we kept on going.
While waiting in line the girls told me they wanted to ride a pink teacup, so that’s where we headed when they opened the gate, and we scored an extra pink cup just for them.
Okay, let me just start by saying it’s been a while since I’ve been on this ride, and while I use to be able to brag that I could get on this and not feel sick, this time I was not so lucky. I didn’t feel nauseous, I just got a great big ‘ole headache, which I think now has something to do with the two brain surgeries I’ve had. See, I haven’t ridden the teacups since I’ve had them, so I’m going to blame it on that. I popped some Tylenol and moved onto the next ride, which so happened to be Buzz.
Again, my mother tried to beat me, but she was so not successful. The only person who did was Dawn’s husband Brian, and believe me, I never heard the end of it. After we finished that ride we knew it was time to start trying to find a place for dinner, so we left Dawn and her family with the intention of meeting up for the Electrical Light Parade. Mom and I knew exactly where we wanted to eat, so we made our way over to the Columbia Harbor House again.

What a great update...........The picture of Hope on the Pooh ride is priceless. What a great smile...you should frame it I love your report and can't wait until April.
I used to like the teacups too then something happened. A couple of weekends ago we went to a farm that had rides and I got nauseous after riding the swings!
What a great day at MK!! Looks like Hope had a blast-she is a Disney fan for sure! You really got some awesome pictures again today! You also managed to fit in lots of stuff and the weather didn't seem to stop you. I'm not even going to tell you about all the things I haven't tried yet at MK....let me just say Hope is wayyyyyy ahead of me already!!!! I'll try to rectify that next trip. Great TR!!!
