Saving the Magic (with Cam and Luke plus Morgan) COMPLETED - Page 47 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I think it was a consensus that we were all teary eyed reading about your encounter with Mary Poppins. I'm so glad that she was perfect in every way and I know you will cherish that memory.
Add me to the list of those tearing up reading about your meet with Mary Poppins.
I've been following along with your TR - thank you so much for sharing it with us! I love Morgan's enthusiasm and her cute comments like are we over Hawaii, the 3 lb. burger, etc.!

Loved hearing about your time with Mary Poppins! Knowing what a favorite she is of your's, it was great that you could have a special moment with her and tell her about Stefanie. Your pictures with her are so sweet!

I am all caught up again, Cam. Add me to the list of people who got teary eyed when I read about your Mary Poppins meet. I am so glad she was able to bring you a little comfort, however. She is practically perfect in every way. I hope your birthday/anniversary were great. I forgot to tell you "Happy Birthday" on Facebook. I heard a song on the radio that made me think of Stefanie the other night, and it made me cry. But then I smiled, because I was thinking of the trip report (or was it a pre-trip report?) where she said "saddlecrap." I've got some of my friends using that word now when we're being silly. They love the story behind it. Stefanie's word always makes them smile.
Cam,
Happy belated birthday - I meant to log on during our birthday and leave you a message, but never got the time
I wanted to let you know that each time I saw Mary Poppins this past week, I thought of you! The boys and I left a donation in Stephanie's name at the Animal Kingdom and felt very honored to be able to do so!

I'm loving your TR! You are getting so much done, from the rides to the character meets. Morgan is so blessed to have you and Luke to share WDW with her! I too am touched by your character meets and love the signs of Stefanie sprinkled throughout your vacation. (the Tink pin, the hidden Mickeys, Mouse ears, etc...)
Sorry - I got a bit behind............and I am another who should have known to NOT read while at work...................Mary Poppins.........sigh.................... .......again, you are such a strong, brave woman and I just know that you have the most precious angel watching over you.

Mary Poppins has always been my favorite character..but now, she is my MOST favorite character!! I love it when a character acts the same in person as you would've expected them to act from their movie.
Another weepy woman here too. I love the fact that Mary Poppins made your visit for special. Morgan looks like she is having such a great time in your pictures. Happy Birthday Cam I hope it was magical.

I think I saw tears in her eyes as well! I am so glad the kleenex were close. The characters just know what to say and do in every situation. It really is as if they are the characters they are playing! I am glad that Morgan is enjoying the trip and having fun with the characters as well.
Stefanie will be remembered forever. She has left a wonderful and beautiful legacy!

So glad Morgan enjoyed her 1st flight. Her whoas remind me of when I fly which of course is very rarely. I say that A LOT!
your out-the-window pics from the plane. I get to experience the scenery without having to leave the ground.
Morgan is too cute, "Is that Hawaii?" and "Are we in space?" I miss that about Steph being an adult now.
Your room at the BW was sweet! And the views from your balcony were awesome. I hope to make it over there one day. My next trip out we will be back at the AKL. Even after David's first trip last year, he doesn't really want to stay anywhere but the AKL. He fell in with that place, especially with the animals being right outside your balcony.
Those have been some hidden Mickeys. I really liked the one in Luke's pizza. We are always noticing hidden Mickeys all around. I should really start snapping pics of them.
that Morgan gave Space Mountain 2 thumbs up. It was Steph's first time to ride it this trip and she loved it too.
That was really a neat thing that those SW pilots were able to find y'all and get that big ol' Mickey balloon to y'all. Very !
Okay - I was going to try and be strong and not cry reading your TR but your special encounter with Mary Poppins just opened the flood gates. It was wonderful to see that she was able to comfort you as you needed.
I am still super bummed that Steph and I missed y'all by one day.

What a precious moment with Mary Poppins! Tears were impossible to hold back seeing those pictures! I'm sure Stefanie was looking down on the two of you and giving both of you a great big hug!
