As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We are firming up this portion of the trip as we speak!
So remember back when Katie and Andy were going to possibly join us for the early part of the trip? Well!
They did wind up going on a honeymoon to Owl's Nest, NY for a week and had a great time! They went on Air B & B and found a great house for 850 bucks for the week. They split the cost with Andy's parents and Muffin gave them his SUV to drive.
It's a good thing they did that because Andy has lost his job. He is presently interviewing elsewhere and has a couple of good prospects on the horizon so we will keep our fingers crossed. In the meantime, he is working around his parents house and doing odd jobs with friends and they honestly seem to be fine.
I am telling you guys this because, as you know, Katie works for Muffin and he really wanted her to come to his trade show. She checked with Andy and he Is fine with her going. She was originally going to fly down on the 4th, but the airfare was still much cheaper on the 3rd. This made it silly and a no brainer for her to fly down to Orlando with us. Muffin booked her flight yesterday and she will now be coming with us on the 3rd and coming home on the 7th.
I will get back to this in a minute but I want to detour to say that Andy is watching Lilly while Katie is in Florida. It will put a few extra bucks in his pocket, he loves Lilly and since those guys are now living with his parents, it will get him out of the house. We are happy to pay him as Lilly can stay home this trip and we get house sitting included. When Katie gets back, he will pick her up at the airport and the two of them will stay at my house for the rest of our trip.
Back to the trip, Muffin and Katie don't have to set up for the show until Sunday, the 5th. This meant we now had the afternoon and evening of the 3rd and all day on the 4th free. We kicked around lots of ideas and here's where we are:
We are still working on the afternoon of the 3rd. I think we are just going to wing it! See how the weather is and explore the area. We are planning on dinner with one of Muffin's employees and we haven't decided for sure where to go yet, but Muffin said there was a place called MoonFish where his customers took him a couple of years ago that he thought was really cool and would love to go back to.
Provided we can pick up tickets today at AAA, I am back to visiting Discovery Cove on the 4th. Life sure is a circle!! The best part about deciding to revisit this idea is that Katie will join me for the day!!
We checked on the website for Discovery Cove and the ticket price is 259 bucks each, which includes a dolphin swim. We looked around for discounts and the best one I could find was through AAA. The price got knocked down to 230 dollars each.
Muffin is going golfing with his work buddies and we will all meet up for dinner. We haven't decided where that will be yet and yes, I did have to give up the California Grill. I am A-OK with that under these circumstances!!
Next: Did we get our Discovery Cove tickets and other musings
Plans are looking good and glad Katie can join you. Too bad that Andy has lost his job. Bad timing as he and Katie just got married!

Did we get our Discovery Cove tickets and other musings?!
September 2nd
We went to AAA today to see if we could get the D.C. tickets at a discounted rate. Sometimes you can just plug in your AAA member number but these particular tickets had to be picked up at a AAA store. We looked up the closest one to us and found it to be about 20 minutes from our house. So!
We took our paperwork we had printed up and headed out. The office was easy to find and boy are these large facilities!! There is a garage attached to this one as well as a section for travel and a section for tags and title.
We walked up to the counter and the agent introduced herself as Deborah. I should have known this was not going to go well because the first thing she said to me after I told her what I wanted was, "I'm not sure that I will be able to help you because we haven't sold any Discovery Cove packages yet this year."
As I was standing there with my mouth open and various smarty arty things to say running around in my brain, I managed a "Could you at least check?" Deborah said that she would. She got into the Discovery Cove website after several attempts at a password which she finally had to look up.
Then after she got in, Muffin blurted out, "It's for two people". I then told him, in what I thought was a polite tone, "I can handle this." I guess my tone was not as polite as I thought it was because he then gave me a look and said, "I'll be in the car". He promptly stormed out, leaving me there alone with the wretched Deborah.
After 15 minutes of nonsense, Deborah finally got the transaction through and announced my total owed was 520.00!!! 230 plus 230 does not equal 520. Even with tax. I pulled out my paperwork and showed her the website price and she just looked at me like I had fallen from the sky.
She seemed surprised when I told her that I would not be purchasing the tickets, or any other tickets through AAA. EVER!!!! Now I was upset, Muffin was upset and the day was going downhill fast.
When I got in the car, I made things worse by asking Muffin what I had said that made want to walk off like that. I guess that didn't come out right either because it made him give me an ugly look and let's just say it was a long, long car ride home.
But! . After 35 years of marriage, we have both learned not to let this silly stuff ruin our day so we both chilled out for a few minutes and talked it out. I sincerely apologized as I obviously did not realize that my tone was not quite the way I intended it and we both thought that in the end, we were really mad at Deborah!
Anyway! I started looking around again for Discovery Cove discounts and you know how the saying goes that everything happens for a reason? Well!
I found an even better and true discount on the mousesavers site for undercover tourist. The total price for the 2 tickets came to 508.30 including tax. I ran it by Muffin and he agreed it was a good price and we purchased it on the spot. I got my E-tickets 10 minutes later and Katie and I are now officially going to Discovery Cove for the day on November 4th!!
What an ordeal that was at AAA! Glad you were able to find another deal online!
