Saving the Magic (with Cam and Luke plus Morgan) COMPLETED - Page 46 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Welcome! We're happy you've found the PassPorter Community -- the friendliest place to plan your vacation to Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland, and the world in general! Catching up again... Love that Morgan thought she ate a 3# burger. Experiencing Soarin for the first time. and Beverly. I am so glad that Morgan made this trip with you both and so sweet that she thought of Stefanie with her Figment angel. That is a thoughful child. You and Mary Poppins... oh I just teared up as I read and looked at the photos. Such a touching moment that the two of you shared. I know Stefanie was smiling down at the two of you. Thank you Luke for capturing the moment and sharing it with us. I am so glad that so many of the characters helped you through these moments. I want to take the moment to say.... Happy Birthday. ... I hope that memories of birthdays past that Stefanie shared with you gave you moments to smile. I think of you all often.

Thanks everyone! This was a difficult but healing meeting with Mary Poppins. The young woman allowed my favorite character to bring me some comfort. That is priceless!
Cam Don't try to hide your tears let em flow we understand. I know I do when I think about what you must be going through.
So glad Morgan is having such a good time and you and Luke have a new friend to share your special place and time with
I don't try to hide the tears and that's why you all are going to get some raw emotion pictures as this isn't the last encounter by far. Characters were so good to us!

Thank you all! I somehow felt Mary Poppins would be sympathetic and I was not disappointed.
I'll let you all know about the card in another update.

I was surprised to see NO LINE for Goofy on the character trails, so of course I went in. Right away, he noticed my bracelet & wanted to know what it said "Angel kisses from Robert". The lump grew in my throat & the tears started as I explained that before Robert died Goofy had been Robert's favorite & how excited he would have been to meet him. Goofy pulled me in for a big hug even before I finished talking. It was heartwarming & heartbreaking all at the same time.
Our experiences are so very similar and so is our pain!

I have to give a special thumbs up to the cast members who are able to react so appropriately with people in many special circumstances. They are indeed a special group of people.

Disney does an incredible job of selecting just the right folks to play our favorite characters' parts. Several of them were such a blessing to me and Luke.

I think I'm more teary now reading about Mary Poppins than when I heard the strory straight from your mouth, but back then I decided I was going to be strong and I held the tears back and kept my mouth shut or I would've been a mess. If I start talking when I'm starting to cry it's all over. I know how special that encounter was for you and I'm glad you have an autograph and the pictures to help remember it.
Cam! I hope you find some today!
That's why I was trying not to cry when I first met Mary Poppins because I feared I'd never get another audible word out once I started to cry. Once I told her my story, then the tears could flow.

I must agree, that as many have posted, your interaction with Mary Poppins had me all chocked up!! I want to add that I am so impressed with Mary!! I could see the heartache in her face as she was giving you a hug and she certainly appeared "Perfect" in every way! That she kept her composure and was able to help you along with your healing process is a true testament to Disney magic indeed!

As you can probably tell I am a new member of the Passporter Boards, though I am no stranger to them. I've lurked off and on ever since purchasing a book before my first trip to Walt Disney World in 2008. Although I never had a reason to post on the boards myself, I've enjoyed infrequently returning to read beautifully written trip reports, such as those of your own. I'm fairly certain I've read at least part of every summer trip report you've done since 2008, and I remember doing so particularly because of Stefanie, a girl whose true love and passion for anything and everything Disney shined with every trip report update.
Yesterday I returned to the boards for the first time this summer, recognizing your username and the "Cam and Luke" portion of your trip report title, but not the "Morgan" part. After reading your first posts and tracking down your pre-trip report, I was heartbroken to find just how difficult of a year 2012 has been so far for you. I've sat and read almost all of your pre-trip and trip report over the past 24 hours, and I can't believe how your trip changed from trying to get Stefanie there one last time to ensuring that her legacy lives on alongside your niece, Morgan.
As I already knew from previous trip reports, you are a high school English teacher and your beautifully written trip reports demonstrate that. As I learned from my high school days, teachers are oftentimes the most inspirational people on this planet, and you are a true testament to that. Your words, your strength, and your inspiration is far-reaching; in fact, it extends "to infinity and beyond," as a certain favorite Toy Story character of mine always says.
Thoughts, prayers, and pixie dust are coming your way,
Katie
Thank you all for your kind words and the happy birthday wishes! And maybe I need a tissue alert for reading your responses as I was crying through all the posts tonight.
Another weepy woman here too. I love the fact that Mary Poppins made your visit for special. Morgan looks like she is having such a great time in your pictures. Happy Birthday Cam I hope it was magical.
Wow, all caught up! I am so glad you had such a great interaction with Mary Poppins but as someone else said how could you not since she is practically perfect in every way. I think I saw tears in her eyes as well! I am so glad the kleenex were close. The characters just know what to say and do in every situation. It really is as if they are the characters they are playing! I am glad that Morgan is enjoying the trip and having fun with the characters as well.
Stefanie will be remembered forever. She has left a wonderful and beautiful legacy!
So glad Morgan enjoyed her 1st flight. Her whoas remind me of when I fly which of course is very rarely. I say that A LOT!
your out-the-window pics from the plane. I get to experience the scenery without having to leave the ground.
Morgan is too cute, "Is that Hawaii?" and "Are we in space?" I miss that about Steph being an adult now.
Your room at the BW was sweet! And the views from your balcony were awesome. I hope to make it over there one day. My next trip out we will be back at the AKL. Even after David's first trip last year, he doesn't really want to stay anywhere but the AKL. He fell in with that place, especially with the animals being right outside your balcony.
Those have been some hidden Mickeys. I really liked the one in Luke's pizza. We are always noticing hidden Mickeys all around. I should really start snapping pics of them.
that Morgan gave Space Mountain 2 thumbs up. It was Steph's first time to ride it this trip and she loved it too.
That was really a neat thing that those SW pilots were able to find y'all and get that big ol' Mickey balloon to y'all. Very !
Okay - I was going to try and be strong and not cry reading your TR but your special encounter with Mary Poppins just opened the flood gates. It was wonderful to see that she was able to comfort you as you needed.
I am still super bummed that Steph and I missed y'all by one day.
What a precious moment with Mary Poppins! Tears were impossible to hold back seeing those pictures! I'm sure Stefanie was looking down on the two of you and giving both of you a great big hug!
