As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

It certainly looks like you had a beautiful day together. It was worth it to change your resort to YC for $400! I know how much you enjoy staying at the YC too so it was a good change in the end.

It wouldn't be a Tara PTR if there wouldn't changes right up to the day you leave.
Can't argue with that!!

Wow Tara thanks for remembering me as a long time Passporter member.
I am good- semi retired nurse and grandma of 2 beautiful boys. Your daughter's wedding brought back memories of my daughter's wedding 4 years ago.

Finally catching up...w h at a beautiful wedding. And Katie looked both radiant and stunning in that wedding dress. And might I say that while Muffin & Logan looked great you were a very beautiful MOB. The sparklers were a very unique touch. All in all, a spectacular Irish wedding that was very well done but not over done which is impressive in today's world.

So!! As usual, I am sure that no one here is surprised, but we have changed things just a wee bit!! Let me explain..........
Today, Muffin asked me how my running was going. I told him, honestly, that I was a little worried that I would not be up to doing a 10K race but that I would give it my best. I can easily run a 5K at this point but I just can't seem to go much past that. This is with daily running for the past 6 months. Anyway!
He then said to me, " I have a proposition for you."
Immediately, I thought "UH-OH!!", but I decided to listen.
He then said that if we decided to give up our two nights at the Poly and forego the race, we could instead go again to WDW in April for the Star Wars Dark Side 5K. He also added that we could go for an entire week and stay at the Poly for half of it.
He further added that we can still go to Orlando on November 3rd, but would instead stay at The Rosen for an additional two nights or maybe even one of the value resorts at WDW instead. He said it was completely up to me.
I had to think a lot about what I would be giving up and what I would gain from this change. I had the French Family Meal traditions breakfast booked at Epcot for the morning of the 4th and I had the Cali Grill booked for that evening.
I told him that even if I decided to go for this plan, I was very sad about giving up the California Grill. I also told him that I didn't think I would be able to get a refund for the Epcot breakfast because it was a F&WF event that explicitly stated no refund. Also, we had already paid for one night at the Poly.
Muffin then asked me to just see if I could sign up for the 5K in April and then go from there. I checked the Run Disney website and sure enough, there were still openings for the 5K race on April 20th.
If I decided to change our plans, I would be getting back over 600 bucks for the one night deposit for the Poly. I decided to check with Disney Dining to see if it would be possible to get a refund for the Parisian Breakfast and spoke with a lovely CM who first said that I could not get a refund but that I could pick another event to go to instead.
Then, she looked up all of our F&WF events that we had booked and told me that I could get a full refund at this point. Now, my savings was up to 700 bucks. I say this because Muffin's company would be absorbing the cost of our first two nights if we decided to stay at The Rosen.
Some of you may think I am nuts for even hesitating to give up the 10K and the two nights at the Poly and you may be right but I really needed to think for a minute about this change. Finally, Muffin threw in that we could keep our Cali Grill ADR.
I finally came to the conclusion that I was still getting 8 nights at two gorgeous resorts, all of the other events that I had booked and another trip out of this deal! All I would be losing is the 275.00 that I paid for the 10K to a wonderful charity that I have no problem supporting.
I called Disney Dining and got my refund on the Parisian Breakfast. Then I signed up for the Star Wars 5K in April. Then I cancelled my Poly reservation which, by the way, Muffin said I could keep the credit for!! (Hello new Dooney and Bourke purse!!)
I still get to keep everything else I booked!! I still get to take a cab or Uber over to WDW while Muffin is working on the 5th, 6th and part of the 7th. Also, we are planning on a Disney Day on the 4th. I am just not sure what park we will be going to but I am thinking MK since we are dining at the Cali Grill.
I did have to cancel our ADR on the 3rd for Citricos but this is small potatoes in the scheme of things. Everything else remains the same.
Next: Since we are approaching our 60 day mark and FP plans, our final final final plans for this trip!!

On a side note To the person who had 7;30 pm tonight for final changes check the rules she is NOT ON THE PLANE YET It is clearly stated
