Fall, Firsts, Food And The Final Frontier TR - UPDATED 11/11 - COMPLETE!! - Page 45 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Isn't that reveal of Atlantis brilliantly done? We loved that.
You certainly packed a lot into your day at the Kennedy Space Center and you were braver than me, taking that slide down to the lower level of Atlantis. I took one look at that and I was like "no way!"....
The big reveal of the Atlantis was amazing and you're just in awe! I did pack a lot into my day and pretty much covered it all! I just felt I'd be down in a few seconds and I've done wate rslides like that, so not too big of a deal! Not like Summit Plummet!

You can tell how much you enjoyed this tour! Thanks for sharing it.
I certainly did and spent a long and tiring day doing it! So much to see and do and the Atlantis was the highlight and worth the admission alone!

What a cool way to reveal Atlantis! It sounds like you had a great day at KSC!
It was quite the reveal certainly! I had such a great time here and glad I finally did it after so many trips to WDW!

Thursday, October 20th (Part V) I walked over to the bus lot to meet for the bus ride back to the Crossroads Plaza. Our bus hadn’t arrived yet but there were a lot people waiting in different areas. It’s not an organized system like Disney, so I had to look for where we were dropped off. I recognized a few people from the trip this morning and waited with them. Shortly, our bus showed up and we boarded. It was very hot out, so it was good to get on the air-conditioned bus. We all boarded and the driver did a head count and we were on the return home. We left at 5:40 pm and I got a well, deserved nap in during the ride. We did have a few stops including the All Star Music Resort. Finally, we arrived back at Crossroads Plaza at 7:10 pm.
This is such a busy area and even more so now than this morning with traffic coming from several directions. I had to wait several minutes, but finally crossed the road and walked back to the B Resort on Hotel Plaza Boulevard. I have an ADR at Morimoto for 8:30 pm, but I had time to go back to my room for a bit and then walk to Disney Springs.
I arrived back at the B Resort and went to my room for a few minutes to drop off a few things and get ready to go to Disney Springs. Shortly, I went down stairs and made the five minute walk to Disney Springs via the Marketplace area. I took the bridge by the Hilton, which crosses the Boulevard to the Springs. Once you arrive downstairs from the bridge, Earl of Sandwich is in front of you. I had plenty of time before dinner as it was only about 7:45 pm.
I began to walk towards The Landing section of the Springs as that’s where I’d be having dinner. I also wanted to go to Paradiso 37 beforehand for a margarita as that’s close to Morimoto.
To the left you can see Paddlefish still under construction at this point
I arrived in The Landing in about ten minutes or a little more. I walked over to Paradiso 37, which was very busy with many guests dining outside tonight as it was a nice evening. There were some empty seats at the outdoor bar and I grabbed one. I ordered a frozen strawberry margarita and enjoyed that until my ADR at Morimoto approached.
It was quite delightful outside tonight and I love the ambience of the outdoor bar with plenty of people watching here with the outdoor seating area close by. There was also a band playing outside at the restaurant and I had a good view of them, so I enjoyed that as well. The margarita was a very good one and wanted another, but my ADR was close and I walked over to Morimoto after finishing my FAB.
I arrived and went inside and checked in for my ADR. They asked me if I wanted to dine outside and I told them yes. Then, I changed my mind as the décor and theming is so astonishing inside and I wanted to experience this. I only had to wait a few minutes for my table. I was seated downstairs with a good view of the large staircase, which was close by. This is quite the place and they did some job with this new eatery as it’s just so beautiful and striking!
If ever there was a restaurant interior that is photo worthy, it’s this place!
View of upstairs sushi bar from my table using my zoom
In between the photos my server brought me a menu and took my drink order. I started off with a glass of Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc as I had already decided on my first course. My server returned and I ordered my appetizer and entrée courses. Morimoto has quite a menu with some choices that seem quite good and a lot of variety.
It seemed very busy tonight and I couldn’t spot many empty tables. Most that were empty were in change over for the next ADR. I enjoyed my wine for a few minutes and shortly my first course arrived and it certainly looked good!
Hamachi Tartare (Yellowtail or Japanese Amberjack) with Dashi Soy, Crispy Shallots, Chives and Wasabi
This is certainly a colorful dish with great presentation. It was excellent with such a variety of flavors. I didn’t leave a drop or morsel in the bowl! Although, I only used a little bit of the wasabi.
I had some time before my next course would arrive, so I got up and walked around the restaurant to see as much as I could and get some photos.
The view from my table
Kitchen and Roasted Peking Ducks on display, which is their signature entrée
I arrived back at my table and I was about to have something that would accompany my entrée. Even better is that it would be prepared tableside. I love experiences like this! A good part of the reason, why I enjoy Victoria & Albert’s so much. This will be the first of two things prepared tableside for me.
Morimoto Ishiyaki Bop. Rice with, various vegetables, egg, soy sauce and sake. Probably a few other things. It was cooked in an Ishiyaki stone pot.
Also, another winner and it smelled so good, while the chef was cooking it. It had quite a bit of flavor and was a good size portion.
I still had one more thing coming up to accompany the Ishiyaki Bop. Unfortunately, there was a bit of a delay as the chef who would prepare this next course at my table was at another table finishing up. The wait was about ten minutes but would be worth it.
Wagyu Beef (Grade A5) with a Sansho Peppercorn Sauce prepared on a Ishiyaki grilling stone.
Grilling is underway and smells so good!
Greasing the grilling stone with some Wagyu Beef fat for the next batch I was having.
Round Two!
The proof is here!
The chef plating my grilled Wagyu Beef
The finished product with Sansho Peppercorn Sauce
This was another great choice and some of the best beef I’ve ever had! I think only Victoria & Albert’s Wagyu Beef tops this preparation! It’s kind of funny as the Disney Food Blog featured a review of Morimoto yesterday, which included them dining on the Wagyu Beef, which they enjoyed very much. They also included photos of the Certificate of Authenticity.
I was quite full after this and decided to skip dessert. It was quite a meal and I enjoyed my first experience at Morimoto. I enjoyed everything about this new addition to Disney Springs from the food, tableside show and good service. I will certainly return, but don’t know when with so many new establishments I need to try here as well!
One thing I should mention is there is a three ounce minimum order for the Wagyu Beef. That is the portion I went with. At $23 per ounce, it doesn’t come cheap, but was worth it!
I settled my bill and took a walk outside in the area to walk off my meal a bit.
NEXT: I Didn't Think I'd Be Back This Soon!

I've heard great things about Morimoto's and from your report it is living up to the reputation. It really is a beautiful restaurant and after reading this I'm going to add this to our next trip itinerary!
Wow, that was quite the dinner you had! Like you, I love anything prepared tableside.
I'm with you about Morimoto, it's just stunning inside.
That always enhances the dining experience and makes it that much more unique and special! The decor is quite overwhelming and they should get awards for this!

I saw that Disney Food Blog review of Morimoto Asia, and I just knew that you got the Wagyu Beef. Your whole meal looked very delicious. I'm so glad you liked Morimoto Asia.

You certainly know me well! It was an amazing meal and glad I got to dine here and I will certainly return! Tough now with so many new eateries in DS! I know Morimoto has become one of your must do's on your WDW trips now like Sanaa! Two great ones!

Actually, we've taken it off for November as we too are trying to get in more of the new places as well as get in a few old ones we've not been to in a long while.
