A 40th celebration to end the world! COMPLETED 6/24 - Page 45 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Well I had fallen behind once again, even though I swore I was going to up with this report. All caught up now. It really does sound like you are having a fabulous time. Sorry some of the meals have fallen short.
Your morning sounds wonderful and you got so much done in so little time. I have to say when you described what you ordered and I saw the picture, it wasn't what I was imagining either. Too bad it wasn't great, but at least it wasn't awful either.

We certainly did have a fantastic time throughout the trip - it was amazing.

You're right - it certainly wasn't awful, it just wasn't as good as I'd hoped for Christmas Day, where I guess your expectations are even higher.
Tuesday 25 December – part five: are we going to get on Radiator Springs Racers again?
It was back through the entrance into the California Adventure, and we headed straight for Radiator Springs Racers, to see if we could use our Fastpasses from yesterday. We had no problem, and thank goodness, as the wait time was showing 150 minutes. This gives you an idea of how bad the waits were - this is Disney selling food and drink in the standby line!
The Fastpass line was fairly slow, and it took 15 minutes to get to the point where we integrated with the standby line, which wasn’t too terrible. We’d been shuffling forward slowly for about another five minutes, when we came to a stop, then we heard the announcements start that the ride was experiencing technical difficulties. This wasn’t good news, but they did say that we should stay put, as they hoped to have it up and running again as soon as possible.
We watched empty cars go out, then we heard an announcement to those on the rides apologising for the temporary delay, and we saw no more cars go out for a while. Ok, not good…. However, about five minutes later, I heard someone say “ride reactivated – all clear” and a couple of minutes later, we started to move again. Honestly, it was absolutely agonising getting so far through the line, and fearing that, at any moment, it may go down again.
Finally, we were stepping on board and then we were off.
We got as far as the section in Luigi’s tyre shop, then we stopped. Oh boy, this isn’t good. Fortunately, we only sat there for about three or four minutes, which allowed me to get some good photos of that area…
… then we were off again….
I figured for a bit of a laugh I’d take some photos, just aiming the camera anywhere, not using the viewfinder, but my goodness, actually they came out really well. I was stunned by how good they were!
One thing I will say is that we felt there was much more of an adrenaline rush in the back seats of the car. Honestly, we were both on adrenalin highs for about the next five or ten minutes.
By now, it was about 2:15pm, and we needed to head out, to get to our Holiday Tour, so we left the California Adventure.
As you can see, the lines to get into this park were pretty much non-existent.
We took the long walk across the plaza to the Disneyland Park…
As soon as we got through the gates, we got a Photopass picture done:
RC racers looks like a brillaint ride. I have heard people say it is like test track but the themeing would make it for me. Glad you had a stop and managed to get more pictures. I can't believe what a fab job they have done bringing that to life from a cartoon.
If I wasn't sure before i am now about going to Disneyland in 2015.
Somehow seeing the Racers photo pass pic with the camera to your face is so you! Love all the pics from it. It does look like one of the best rides, that's for sure!
Glad you were able to ride again, but you're right that it was tense waiting to see if it would happen or not! Glad you only had to stop once during the ride.
And I agree, it seems perfect that you and Mark both have cameras in front of your faces on the ride picture!!
I also got a chuckle out of the ride photo with you and Mark in your iconic positions, cameras in use! The photos you got during the ride turned out great! This day just illustrates perfectly how easy it is to go back and forth between the parks at DLR!
Sometimes when a ride stops, if in the right location it can be exciting. Of course you don't want to be stuck too long.
And the wait to get on would've drove me batty too. I have had that a few times and you aren't sure if you should stick it out or leave and try later. I seem to never make the right choice.
Glad you waited it out to ride RSR once more. Cool photos while on the ride. I should try that sometime, just for fun and see what happens!

Essentially it is Test Track, but on steroids! The cars are the same and I assume the ride mechanics are too, but the theming make it stand out completely from the Test Track of Florida.

So glad I could help convince you that's a great idea to go!

Well if I say that on my wedding day, straight after the ceremony and the official photos were done, I grabbed my camera and walked around with it all day.

I love that aspect of Disneyland California and also Disneyland Paris. It is the only shame with Florida, that it's so big and not that quick to get between any of the parks.
