Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

So glad you saw the CP! I couldn't believe how moving it was, and I was in tears thru much of it.
Garden Grill looked so delicious! I am adding it to the top of my list for our next trip. And looks like your next trip will be here before you know it!!

Sunday November 28, 2010

Sunday November 28

Since the day before was so busy we decided to sleep in just a little bit.

I woke up the sleepy heads to decide what we wanted to do this morning.

We had no official plans until that evening an ADR at Boma. Isabelle decided that she wanted to go over to the Magic Kingdom for a day of visiting princesses, fairies and Mickey.
So we left Maddy and Daddy to do their own thing.

We got ready and headed down to catch a bus to the MK. This was the longest we waited for a bus all week. It was well over 30 minutes. Lucky for us there were some hula hoops at the bus stop and that kept Isabelle occupied.

We finally got on a bus and were at the MK in no time.

The first thing on Isabelle’s agenda was to go to the Rapunzel Meet and Greet. We had passed on this several times already as the line was so long. But we thought if we got there early it would be better and it was! We got there around 10am and there were only a few other families in front of us. At 10:30 they opened the rope at and the children went to the table to color while the parents got a place in line.

The coloring didn’t last all that long and before we knew it Rapunzel and Flynn were there!

They greeted every one and then they come down and do a dance around the table with the children. Rapunzel was right beside Isabelle! I know that made her day!

Once the dance was finished the children come over to their parents and wait to meet Rapunzel and Flynn.

Once it was Isabelle’s turn we were surprised to be interrupted by PUSH the talking trashcan. He came right in and was asking Flynn who Isabelle was and if she was a princess.

It was great and I wish I had it on video but no such luck! Still a great moment for Isabelle. After our meet, we were leaving and PUSH was leaving too. PUSH says “Flynn is so handsome, he looks just like Justin Bieber”. I thought Isabelle was going to die laughing! It was so funny!! I completely recommend this meet and greet just try to get there early because the line gets very long.

Next we headed over to Toontown. We were so sad that this would be our last time seeing Mickey and Minnie’s houses decorated for Christmas. We first decided to take a ride on the Barnstormer. Always fun and one that Isabelle doesn’t have a meltdown about!

I love this picture of Isabelle

Then we headed over to meet the princesses and fairies. The fairy wait time was 60 minutes while the princess wait time was 15 minutes. We went to see the princesses first. We were greeted by Aurora, Cinderella and Belle. Aurora loved that Isabelle was wearing pink.

Belle loved that Isabelle’s name was nearly like hers. She did warn us to watch out for Gaston.

We had a nice meet and headed to the fairy line next. It was still 60 minutes. I got in line and Isabelle went over to get a snack. She came back with a big piece of fudge!

She ate the whole piece too! Hey it’s WDW right????

A nice family was behind us in line and we chatted the entire time. Isabelle and the little girl were very close in age, they even became “friends” on webkins.

It was finally time to meet the fairies! We met Fawn, Tinkerbell and Vidia. Isabelle had never met the fairies before so it was another great experience.

Vidia was admiring Isabelle's purple crocs. She was quite the character and a lot of fun.

Next we headed to Minnie and Mickey’s House. It was bittersweet as we knew this was our last time here…ever. We took some photos and then waited in line to see Mickey and Minnie.

I always love going to the Judges tent to meet Mickey and Minnie in their “classic” outfits. The wait was about 30 minutes and the line moved quickly. Before we knew it we were hugging the mouse.

We thought that we would head over and get in line for Princess Tiana. Unfortunately, they had just closed her line for the morning and she wouldn’t be back until later in the afternoon. We have never had luck with meeting Tiana. Maybe next time????
I have to share this picture of Isabelle. It is one of my favorites.

By now our stomachs were ready for lunch. We decided to grab a bite at Casey’s. I got the corn dog nuggets meal and Isabelle had the hot dog meal.

We sat on the ledge outside and watched the afternoon parade go by. We had decided that after lunch we were heading back to the resort for some afternoon swimming. We caught the boat back to the WL

and met up with Maddy and Daddy in the room. They told us about their day of renting bicycles and riding the trails over to Ft. Wilderness. It sounded like a wonderful morning. The girls got on their suits and we headed to the pool. Again, Isabelle loves the games at the pool. There was a hula hoop contest and duck races.

While the girls went swimming and had some fun-I relaxed a bit and had a Mango Margarita. Mmmmm!

continued in next post...

Sunday November 28...continued

Now I kept telling the girls we were not swimming long because Sheri (skateycat) and her hubby were going to be at Epcot that evening and we wanted to meet up for a bit. So we all headed up to the room to get ready for the evening. Now we knew we had to get to Boma for dinner and in hindsight we should have drove our own car. But, no, we took the bus. The Epcot bus arrived in decent time but it had to make a stop at Ft. Wilderness before going to Epcot. That in my mind was taking forever! We finally arrive at Epcot and I know Sheri is back in America grabbing a bite to eat. So we stopped by to meet Duffy.

He really is cute and soft too! Then we hitched a ride on the friendship to take us across the lagoon. Before we knew it we were in America meeting up with a true wonderful friend Sheri!

This was the first time I had met her husband and he is a dear sweetheart as well. I was so happy to see my friend. If any of you know Sheri, you know just how special she is. I always call her a true jem. That's what she is to me.

Then really we just walked around and browsed in some shops catching up on what was going on in each others lives.

Now Isabelle wanted to treat her Dad to some Beverly at Club Cool. So we had to make a stop there.

This is what it looks like when you take a big swig of Beverly.

That just made Isabelle’s day!!

Before leaving we had to ride Spaceship Earth. I rode with Maddy, Belle rode with Miss Sheri and we put the two guys together.
Fun times! Fun times were had by all. I was so sad to see our evening come to an end so soon. Sheri is such a wonderful friend and I was wishing that I had more time to spend with her. I'm hoping to see her again real soon! Goodbyes are never easy.

Now the task was to catch a bus to the AKL to have dinner at Boma. Of course we were already running late. Lucky for us a bus came fairly quickly and when we arrived they were graciously allowing us to be late. Now the last time I was at Boma I had one heck of a belly ache. (See my last TR for those details) I was looking forward to enjoying dinner this evening. I was sad that they didn’t have the carrot ginger soup they had last time because that is sooo good! But all in all we had a nice dinner at Boma. No food photos sorry! Dinner this evening with one adult beverage was $114.45. After dinner we browsed in the shop for awhile and then Zach wanted to roam outside a bit even though it was dark out.
We took a couple pictures of the Christmas tree

By this time I was one tired Mama and we again hitched a ride in a taxi to make it back to our resort. Just as we were pulling in to the Wilderness Lodge you could see the fireworks from Wishes in the night sky. It was a beautiful ending to a wonderful day!

UP NEXT: More fun at DHS

What an awesome time you and Isabelle had at MK! Every picture of her this day is so sweet! So neat that you got to meet up with Sheri again. She is a favorite with Stefanie and me, too! Love the AK tree!

That meet and greet with Flynn and Rapunzel sounds really special. Glad you were able to meet with all the characters. It is sad that Toontown is closing, but we try to stay positive and know something great is coming in it's place. Our family also enjoys Boma. Look forward to hearing more.

Monday November 29, 2010

We had talked the night before that if we wanted to ride TSMM on this trip we had to do it today. That meant no sleeping in and getting to the parks late. We needed to get there early.

I can’t remember exactly when we got there, but lets just say the return time for FP was way later than we were going to be able to return. So we came up with Plan B: got two fastpasses for RNRC and two fastpasses for ToT.

Once our mission was accomplished we stopped by to get a bottle of water and a snack for Maddy. A huge pickle!

Then we headed over to get in line for TSMM. The posted wait time was 70minutes. While I don’t like to wait that long for any ride, we had to get in the queue and wait. It was our only chance of riding this trip.

The line seemed to move at a decent pace. Had some fun with getting some photos while waiting.

It was finally our turn to play the midway! We love this ride!!

By this time we were hungry! We headed to the Studio Catering Company for lunch. I had the turkey club and it was very good. No photos…sorry! Just trust me on this one. Much better than the ABC Commissary we had early that week. After lunch the girls wanted to run around in the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids play area. That worked out well as we needed to digest before our fastpasses were ripe for RNRR.

Maddy taking a bite out of the big cookie

After our time at the playground we headed back down Sunset Blvd. Zach and Maddy took another ride on RNRC. Then we all joined the FP queue so Zach and I could ride ToT. The girls were adamant that they were not riding. So they took the Chicken Exit and Zach and I had great fun on our series of drops! We met them when we were done. They were just fine down there waiting for us. We all decided that a restful afternoon was in order. We headed back to the resort for some afternoon swim/relaxation time again.

It was a bit chillier at the pool this afternoon. As you can see Maddy was all covered up.

We didn't stay too long. Soon we were back to our room and getting ready for the evening. We were having dinner with Chef Mickey and his friends. We took a bus to the MK with the thought of catching the monorail over to the CR. We ended up just walking over from the bus drop off. It was not a long walk at all.
Once there we went up to see the gingerbread tree. It’s beautiful!

We got checked in and were seated shortly after at Chef Mickey’s.

The girls this place. What kid doesn't? I think it’s just okay, but what are you going to do??? They did have a potato soup that evening that was really good. We all had a great time with the characters!

And really the only reason I love going to CM is this…

Mickey Domes...a little bite of chocolate-y heaven.
Our dinner this evening came to $114.98

We wanted to try to make it to the MK to see the Main Street Electric Parade (which none of us had ever seen!). So on the monorail we went and we got into the MK just in time for the parade to start. It was madness! We didn’t have a very good view, but all I can say is we LOVED it!! Isabelle was just talking the over day about how we have to see this parade again.

We did stay to watch Wishes, another family favorite. Afterwards we did a little shopping-Madeline still had lots of money on her giftcard to spend. She bought a Tinkerbell bag and a Mickey hat (you’ll see in a lot of pics to follow!)

We took the boat back to the resort this evening. It was a bit of a wait, but we knew it would be with park closing. Once back in our room it didn’t take long for us to fall asleep. Another busy day at the happy place!

UP NEXT: Maddy finds a new favorite ride at the AK!
