As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Spicy & fish. Something my DH would love. Me? Not so much. Even though the meal & service weren't tops, looks like the company was! Glad you got a chance to spend some time with Jennifer.
Love the pictures from the boat. It's a different perspective and so relaxing too. Lunch sounded fairly good, the company is what makes it the best anyway. I liked the photo of Mark playing with the Pirate ship too! Glad to hear nobody actually ate any spam scones.

I love the pictures of your boat ride. One of my favorite things to do is to ride the boat from FQ to DTD and back. We've always wanted to stay in the treehouses but it's only DD and I so it probably won't happen. Those are the first pictures I've ever seen of OKW. It looks really nice. Sorry about your meal. I don't do spicy at all.

I really got behind. Poor Piglet. But Mark was hamming it up with him (sorry, couldn't resist). I definitely need that Eeyore neck pillow. Love it!!! Once again your pictures are superb. Sorry about the spicy food...but it all looked delicious.
The picture of Mark with Piglet is a classic! The Eeyore travel pillow is really neat. Too bad you didn't get it! I had never thought about taking pictures inside the shops, but the photos you took are so !

Sunday 13 December – part four: this is much better than our part of the resort
We headed back to the car, with me virtually limping, as my shoes were killing me by now and one part of my left foot was actually bleeding, they had rubbed so much. I have worn these shoes before many times with no such problems, although in fairness, I probably haven’t walked as far in them as I did today.
We headed back to the room and, once there, it was time to get on with the laundry. I had planned on this tomorrow morning, but as it was pretty hot and humid and not the day to be out at the parks, I thought that maybe we’d do it now instead.
We set the washing off and retired to the room to watch the animals outside and relax....
..... and then we decided to head over to Jambo House. It was quite an easy walk over there that probably took us about 10 minutes and we managed to find an alternative way through the parking garage for much of the way, so that we could stay in the shade. I really like what they’ve done with the parking under the resort here. It means that everyone can, theoretically, park near to their rooms, which is nice. It’s a bit like Old Key West and Saratoga Springs in that respect and something that’s a real benefit.
When we got to Jambo House, we got some photos in the lobby....
... then we headed downstairs past Jiko and Boma and out to the main pool.
Once there, we hit the pool bar, where I got a Pina Colava and Mark got a Coke, as he would be driving later.
We then walked, with our drinks, over to the flamingos, which were being fed.
Just around the corner, some giraffes were also feeding.
We both commented that it was so nice to have a pool bar by the savannah. It’s a shame the way it’s been done at Kidani Village. I do understand why they did it that way, so that they could have more savannah view rooms, but it just doesn’t work for me. Our visit to Jambo House reinforced my view that really Kidani Village doesn’t work as well at Jambo House does and we both agreed that we’d always prefer to stay at Jambo in the future, even if the DVC rooms there aren’t as big. I can live with that for the benefit of all the extra facilities we get there.
We walked back and drove the last back from where we had parked the car earlier, as it was nowhere near our room and we wanted to move it closer. The washing was rescued and then got ready to go out.
We made it to the BoardWalk and checked out the lobby. I really liked what they had done this time, with their Christmas decorations. It’s the same basis as previous years, but they’ve added little touches, like Stitch doing the cooking and Donald being stuck in the chimney.
We headed down to the BoardWalk itself....
.... and quickly found Heather, Larry, Bob and Lorie waiting for us. Lorie suggested I check us in, as in her words “This is your party” and I headed off to do that and then realised that I hadn’t actually booked the thing, she had, so I came back out and sent her to check us in.

I agree 100%! It's great that you can take the elevator from the parking level right up to the floor your room is on

Again, yes, I agree. The entire pool area is just too far out of the way.
