10 Nights of Magic in The Orlando Trifecta-TR - COMPLETE!! 12/10 - Page 44 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Well I guess that's something. Imagine saying to a kid - yes, there are snacks there, but you can't even touch or move them. Not exactly easy!
If you have children with you, that makes this even more difficult. Although, most parents don't bring their kids to Las Vegas.

True, although Vegas has quite aggressively marketed itself (certainly over here anyway) as a family friendly destination to encourage people to go with their kids.
Sunday, October 8th (Part II) I exited the Dolphin and walked over to the bus depot for a bus to the Magic Kingdom, which was a very short walk. There were quite a few people waiting for the various Disney buses but it wasn’t overly crowded as the Disney resort depots can get.
View of Dolphin entrance from bus depot
A few buses showed up over the next several minutes but nothing for the Magic Kingdom. More time passed and still no Magic Kingdom bus! I mentioned to someone waiting next to me about this (who was also going to the Magic Kingdom) that it’s been about thirty minutes, since I got there. This individual said it has actually been 45! During this time, I saw three AK buses, three for Studios, two for Epcot and three for Disney Springs. Yet, not one for the Magic Kingdom! It’s still morning and they don’t need to run the Disney Springs buses this often as most guests go there later in the afternoon and evening. After a 40 minute wait for me and nearly one hour overall between buses one finally arrived!
I think we were the final stop before going to the Magic Kingdom, but not 100% sure. I’m quite certain, this bus stops at the Yacht and Beach Club resorts and the Swan resort before here. At least we were on our way. As you can imagine after so long between buses that the bus was completely full! Being the last stop, I was so happy I got on this bus, even though I was standing. It certainly helped being near the front of the line! It was an uneventful ride and as I was standing, I didn’t pay attention to the commentary on board as we approached the park which I always enjoy. I just wanted to get there! We arrived at the Magic Kingdom within 15 minutes. Now, the Disney World portion of my trip officially begins!
As it was a Sunday, I was expecting the park to be crowded and it was! But, I have three Fastpass+ reservations for the day and I wasn’t worried. I’m also hoping to get a few more attractions in as well. Even though, the bus was late I wouldn’t have to rush for my first FP+ as it wasn’t until 11:15 am. It was just about 11 am on arrival.
I went through security rather quickly, even though there was a long line and it only took a couple of minutes. It was even more crowded at the gates to scan your MagicBand and every line was at least twenty people deep. It moved faster than I thought and I was through in five minutes, so not too bad.
I had plenty of time to get to my first FP+, so what better way than to take my time and capture some of the goings on around Main Street USA!
I love these Mickey O Lanterns as they are so cool!
I need to take a ride on one of these some day and didn’t think of it, even though in front of me and an invitation!
Great entertainment as always here!
Main Street USA all decked out for Halloween!
The part of the walk I love on Main Street USA as I approach the iconic castle!
This statue of Walt Disney and Mickey is a close second to the castle for me! I must always stop to see this on my first visit to the Magic Kingdom on every trip!
Now, that I was at the crossroads of the Magic Kingdom in the hub, I headed for my first FP+ for the day in Frontierland and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad!
As expected, it was very crowded here, but easy to navigate through the crowd.
Getting ever closer!
Work being done on Splash Mountain
I knew this was in rehab, but glad I got to experience it last October!
Arrival at my destination!
I was looking forward to this attraction as on my last two WDW trips in 2014 and 2016 this was in rehab! Sometimes life isn’t fair!
I entered the FP+ queue and I got all the way inside before I reached the others in this line. It moved rather quickly and I boarded the attraction in just over five minutes, which is very good. It was as good, enjoyable and thrilling as always. It lasts several minutes, which is great for more enjoyment. I think it’s about four minutes or just a bit less. Certainly, much more than Goofy’s Barnstormer, which is over way too fast.
After a great ride, I began to walk out of Frontierland and to other areas of the Magic Kingdom. Of course, there would be stops along the way as always something to see and experience!
A nice surprise when you run into someone like this!
A return to the castle and hub and some great entertainment coming up!
The Move It! Shake It! Dance and Play It! Street Party.
I enjoy this street party but I think I enjoyed the previous version of Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! A little more. I thought the music and overall entertainment aspect of it was better. But, this version is still good.
It’s not complete without seeing my dog! I wish I had gotten a better view and photo of him.
After the street party concluded, I had something else in mind to do and that was to get some lunch. It was about 12:15 pm and I was getting hungry as I had an early breakfast back at the Royal Pacific several hours ago at around 6:45 am.
NEXT: A New and Unique Lunch Destination!

Great start to your Disney portion of the trip, I am curious about your lunch destination.
Always good once you arrive in "The Bubble." Lunch will be in the next update!

Very active time in the MK and just beginning with so much to capture! The wait for the bus was a hassle and usually have a wait like this at some point on each trip. Most of them occur trying to get to a park rather than returning.

What a pain with the wait for the bus! You may recall that happened to us as well, and I was surprised to see so many Disney Springs buses coming through at 8:00AM!

Yes, the wait for the bus was a bit aggravating and especially on my first WDW day as I couldn't wait to get there! I remember that from one of your recent TRs. It doesn't make sense with the DS buses at that hour. Late in the afternoon and evening is when they should be running frequently like this but not in the a.m. Someone was a bit off with the bus scheduling.

What a nightmare with the buses to get to the Magic Kingdom, but at least a fun time once you arrived!
The bus situation was a big nuisance as just aggravating, playing the big waiting game! Once, a bus arrived and got to the MK, all was certainly good as my WDW adventure officially began!

Great start to the Disney portion of your trip. The Dolphin looks beautiful. I will more than likely be staying there in a year or two with my sister.
Loving your pictures.

Definitely enjoying the beginnings in WDW! They did a great job with the lobby remodel at the Dolphin. The rooms have been done as well. You'll see my room once I return from the MK. I think you'll enjoy the Dolphin as convenient to Studios and Epcot and also having the Boardwalk there are pluses. Also, not nearly as pricey as the WDW deluxes in this area.

Sunday, October 8th (Part III) I left the hub area around the castle at the end of Main Street USA and towards the direction where I’d need to be for my lunch destination, which I was looking very forward to.
As you can see, I’ve left the Magic Kingdom. But, I will be back as I still have two more FP+s later today, beginning just after 2 pm. So, where would I be going for lunch? It wouldn’t be by bus nor monorail but by boat. It’s an eatery I’ve never tried previously and I decided when I did my trip planning earlier in 2017, that this would be a good spot to go to for lunch. It’s also rather easy to get to by boat. There would also be other things to see here as it would all be new for me!
So, where am I headed?
I got to the boat dock and I waited just a few minutes for a boat to arrive. The boat was full when it arrived and I waited just a few more minutes for everyone to disembark before we were allowed on. The boat was only about half full as not a lot of people leaving the Magic Kingdom around 12:30 pm.
Nice views of the Grand Floridian and Narccoossee’s.
Below you’ll see which resort I’m going to on the approach now.
Copper Creek Cabins at the Wilderness Lodge
Although, the Wilderness Lodge is the most affordable of the deluxe resorts, these cabins are not! But, I would love to stay in one of these.
Shortly, our boat pulled up to the dock at the Wilderness Lodge and we disembarked. While, I’m here I hope to see the geyser going off as always a highlight when I visit this resort. This was the first resort I ever stayed at back in 2002 and will always be a bit special for me. I’ve stayed here one other time in 2012 close to my ten year anniversary of my first stay as both were in April.
I love this view, once you reach the end of the long wooden walkway!
Such a beautiful resort!
Now, it was time to head on over to my lunch spot for the day. I’m sure you have a good idea where I am going!
Arrival in the Boulder Creek section. This is where things begin to look different for me.
My lunch destination below!
Here we are! Looking forward to trying this new eatery as I love the look and feel of this place as you’ll see!
I walked in here and it’s all self-seating as far as I could tell. I was looking to see if there were any tables available with views of the lake but there weren’t! There were also no outside tables open with resort views either. I decided to sit up at the bar and there were some seats available. It was quite busy for lunch today, which is a good sign.
Love the openness element to Geyser Point. Good on a day like today, even though rather hot and humid. But, it doesn’t feel bad in here.
The view from my seat and I can see the lake scenery rather well.
The CM at the bar gave me a menu and I looked it over. Some good choices, but the menu is rather limited unfortunately. But, there were some things I was interested in and decided what I wanted. I ordered a glass of Sauvignon Blanc (probably Kim Crawford as usually standard brand for this throughout WDW) to start with as well as a glass of ice water. I think I waited about ten minutes for my lunch to arrive, which wasn’t bad. In the meantime, I just took in the scenery of Geyser Point and outside. I love the feel and theming of this new eatery and I think it will be quite popular. A great addition to the Wilderness Lodge. I’m just hoping the food will be good!
Crab cake sandwich with slaw and Canadian Bacon served with house made chips.
I enjoyed my sandwich very much and had lots of flavor to it. The chips were quite good as well. I think I made the right choice for lunch and better than the counter service options in the Magic Kingdom. I will certainly return! This is a great addition to Disney dining. It may not be worth going out of your way to get here, but if you can get here easily like I did, it’s a good option!
After, enjoying my lunch and settling my bill, which wasn’t overly expensive, I did more exploring in the Boulder Ridge area of the resort.
Very creative and something you’d see in Epcot for the F&G Festival!
One of the offspring!
Cabins at Boulder Ridge
Love the look of these and best of all as it seems very quiet over here.
I did catch the geyser, but it was the very end of the show.
After, spending some time here, I returned to the boat dock and waited for a boat back to the Magic Kingdom. Time was good as it was a bit after 1:30 pm and my next FP+ was at 2:05, so no need to be in a rush!
NEXT: Two Firsts in the Magic Kingdom with So Many Previous Trips!
