Feelin’ Groovy: A Cam and Luke TR Completed 7/31 - Page 43 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sounds like you had a fun day at AK. It's been years since we rode Kali Rapids because we always get soaked and I hate walking around in wet clothes! Although I've never eaten at Sanaa because I'm not sure I'd like the spices in the food, your meals did sound delicious. The views of the animals must be very entertaining to watch while dining too! Is the mystery photo from Everest Expedition?
You always have such wonderful photos and it's hard not to enjoy the beautiful animals. I was laughing out loud about a scrapbook page dedicated to the other side. I would combine the photos with an everybody poops sign I too years ago inside a bathroom stall near the vet viewing area.
Good for Luke for reducing his pain meds. I hope he is back on track very soon.
I was talking to Charlie at the weekend about how you had to change your usual touring style this time to take into account poor Luke's recovery. We find these days that it is just so nice to slow down a bit and stop for the occasional ice-cream or dole whip, whilst taking in our surroundings a bit more. Bizarre the way one's Disney touring style changes over time or due to circumstances!
Hope Luke feels brighter soon, and enjoying the trip report so far. Keep up the good work!

All caught up! I haven't been on the boards in a long time, but I always love coming back and having a Cam & Luke trip report to read! You always have the best time and give me lots of ideas of things to try and buy!!
I'm glad that Luke is on the mend and that they were able to take care of the kidney stone for him. He's such a trooper - especially heading to Disney so soon after surgery. My DH and I always say that nothing gets in the way of Disney... and what better place to relax and recuperate, right?
I love all of your topiary photos (well - all of your photos, really!!) They bring back memories of when DH and I went on a backstage tour and got to see some of them being made. They never cease to amaze me.
Can't wait to read about the rest of your groovy adventures!
all caught up. So happy to hear that Luke is on the mend. Maybe not the exact way you had hoped but as long as he is feeling better that is the most important thing. Still loving the report and all the photos. I'm curios about this secret entrance from RFC into AK. I have heard about it but never used it. Where is it. Maybe a great tip to avoid the lines at the regular turnstiles.
Registered Message Board Members save 30% off PassPorter guidebooks! When you register you'll have access to a discount coupon good for 30% off the list price of PassPorter books in our online store.
That only sounds fair. I'll try to complete that assignment in October.

We only ride Kali as our last FP+ if we are leaving the park shortly afterwards. I don't like walking around wet either. The butter chicken and beef that I get don't have any different spices. In fact, the beef tastes a lot like Sunday pot roasts.

We're actually like the more leisurely touring style, though we may be moving more quickly in October with my sister June and her family coming, too. Our niece and nephew still have tons of energy.

Thanks! That sign would be a perfect addition to a back sides scrapbook layout.

Thank you so much! I would love to do a backstage tour and see the topiaries in the making. Must check that out.

I was getting a little irritable by the point when I went back up because I was very hungry. So I'm thankful they go us in quickly then. I can be very patient unless I'm tired or hungry.
Sounds like a nice afternoon at AK and wonderful dinner at Sanna!
It was!

I do, too. In fact, every time I write an update with Sanaa in it, I get so hungry for a meal there.

He is doing better though he really would be happier if that stent was out. Head into the gift shop at RFC and walk all the way to the back and then out into the outdoor seating area, and then walk to the end of that. The turnstile is there.
Our morning started a later as we slept in a little. Even then we were ready to leave by 9:30ish, which proved to be great timing for a DHS bus. We were even the only riders.
Once inside the park, our first goal was to get a Hollywood Boulevard photo with Grauman’s Chinese Theater as the backdrop. We hadn’t done this yet as the PhotoPass photographers had been very busy on our previous day at this park.
We had decided last night that this would be another morning where we headed to Starbucks for breakfast. Luke got the same Bacon Gouda Ciabatta sandwich while I switched to a sweet breakfast with a chocolate croissants. For our beverages, Luke got his usual Café Mocha Grande and I had a Tall Hot Chocolate. We found a shady table next to Star Wars store, and enjoyed a delicious and relaxing breakfast. At least it was shady until the sun rose higher, but by then we were nearly finished noshing.
The next thing was to check the shop where I had seen the four parks sweater/sweatshirt. Nil! Not even the one I had seen the other day. We browsed a few stores we hadn’t yet gone in, finding some stuff that we shipped back to resort. Most of it was little items that we’d looked at several times over the trip. Luke found a BB8 Racer, and I couldn’t resist a BB8 Droid Spin Top. He is soooo cute. Luke also found a Star Wars Mater car and a pin with Mickey holding a heart. I also selected a Mickey hand fan (no photo— sorry) and a Mickey Parts magnet set for our fridge.
While I paid for these and filled out the paperwork to have them sent to the resort, Luke headed to the restroom. He wasn’t back when I finished, so I headed over to the restrooms, too. I also had to take photos of the neat window displays in this area as Donald and his nephews (Huey, Dewey, and Louie were favorites of Stefanie’s).
Finally, we were within our window for our first Fastpass+ of the day, the Tower of Terror.
Our window overlapped with Linda and Pete, so we had sent a few texts back and forth to meet up. Since we had FP+, our wait was really very short. We were in a small group as well, so I even managed a few photos that I’d never gotten before.
Our rise and fall was as fun as usual, and then we were off. Luke had me stop to get a photo of a doll he didn’t remember having ever seen in the old PhotoPass area at the exit.
Then a CM asked if he could take a photo of the four of us, which was so great. He managed a couple with my camera and with Linda’s phone.
From here, Luke went to Rock ‘N Rollercoaster single rider while I talked with Linda and Pete until they needed to get to their next FP+. Luke was so excited about the personalized poster at the exit. I was happy that he was feeling better because he had not ridden RNRC our other Studios day because he was afraid of how he might feel afterwards.
While he was riding, I wandered the area taking photos first of Tower of Terror and then Rock ‘N Rollercoaster. I also picked up a bottle of light lemonade at some point.
Our next FP+ was for the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular. But before joining the line, we were both very thirsty and hot. We stopped at Peevy’s Polar Pipeline to get two frozen Cokes. I loved the display of Chewbacca souvenir mugs here.
Indiana Jones is still a very fun show. Here are a lot of photos to support that fact.
After the show, we still had time before our last FastPass+ so we decided to ride Star Tours since it didn’t have a long standby wait time. Of course, waiting in line allowed me to get some queue photos.
Time again for a restroom break so we visited the ones near Star Tours before heading to our last FP+. When we got to Toy Story Midway Mania there was long line for even for FP+ holders. We suspected the ride had been down at some time. So again I had time for photos in the queue.
Luke scored better than first time, and still best in vehicle. My score seemed to be about the same.
When we got off TSMM, we realized it had been quite a while since breakfast as it was now 1:45. We needed a quick lunch and Hey Howdy Hey, a food stop in Pixar Place, was nearby. I got a hot dog with chips and Luke had the Mickey pretzel with cheese. We stuffed it in pretty quickly, too, because we needed to get back to Kidani Village to meet Pam and Charlotte.
Mystery Photos: I think these might be easy. Both are from our morning at Studios, though they are not in the exact same spot.
Your dinner at Sanaa sounds lovely! We've never been there bc we have some very non adventurous eaters in our family, but reading that the spices aren't heavy is making me rethink that.
