As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I won't be checking in this weekend as we are off to do a Tough Mudder !
Have a wonderful vacation, enjoy every minute and I can't wait to read all about it when you return. Safe travels!
When we used Memory Maker for our Mardi Gras trip this past March, it started from the day the pictures were taken. Also be sure to link all of your magic bands to the main account. There is a button to click on each one somewhere. That way all the pictures from everyone's bands will link to the main person and you can edit them all together. We didn't know to do this and almost missed the photos linked to my DH's band. Have fun!
Love, love, love the walk down Main Street!
Memory Maker sounds like a good deal. It will be interesting to see how it compares to Photopass.
I think all resorts have hair dryers.
I think Photopass+ was a much better offer. But MM isn't that bad. I've already told my kids we'll be stopping at every PP photographer we see. They weren't too happy.

I will be at Disney May 31 to June 7. We will be at Epcot on the same day, June 3. I have a ADR for Via Napoli at 2 pm. I will also be at the MK on Friday, June 6 in the am. Maybe we will be able to meet at some point.
I am so excited at leaving tomorrow morning! I will send you a FB friend request shortly.
I will be wearing my Passporter pouch every day.
Have a safe journey to Disney!
I know you're already down at the world. Hope we get to meet.

With Memory Maker once it's linked to your Magic Band nothing else needs to be done before you go. Each PP photographer will scan your band adding the pictures. I did not check mine at all while at WDW, but that does sound like a good idea. I just didn't make time for it. When I opened PhotoPass a few days after we got back (May 22) my first pictures taken on May 13 were set to expire on June 27, so plenty of time to add borders/stickers. My last day of photos had an expiration date of July 6.
Thanks for the info!

Yes, being at my happy place will make me forget everything.

But aren't the magic bands already linked to MM because they are in my family & friends?
Never in a million years did I think I'd stay at a Deluxe resort, much less in a villa. It was so easy to convince my husband about renting DVC points. I know we'll appreciate the space and the 2 bathrooms.
Trip Update
Everything is almost done. Laundry and house cleaned. Luggage packed minus some everyday stuff. Carry-ons are almost set. We are, pretty much, ready to go.
But I thought this day was never going to end. My goodness, what a long day. Between, basketball games, cleaning, and a birthday party, I'm tired.
Of course, my nervous stomach has started. I hope I can get it under control.
And, of course, I have another question for those Memory Maker users. When I purchased, it linked, automatically, to MDX. But, are the rest of my family already linked too? Can they also add pictures to the account? Or do I have to do something to link MM to each of them?
Sorry I wasn't clear. I had to go back to my account and see what it said. What I found is that you will need to make sure that your account and all of their accounts are set to Share PhotoPass Photos. This will allow their Photopass pictures to show up on your account and your photos on theirs also. That way you can edit and download the ones scanned on their magic bands as part of your Memory Maker purchase.
I am so excited for you all to stay at AKL Kidani Village. It is one of our DVC homes, and my favorite. this place.
I was told that as long as each member of my party was linked on MDE that we were all linked to the Memory Maker. Both Luke and I had our bands scanned at different times, especially as he rode a couple of rides I did not. Both pictures scanned to his band and my band showed up without any problems.

Thanks! I went to the PP page (the new one) and there was a box that you check to include your family & friends. I think that's what you mean.

We are all very excited to stay here. I've never been to Kidani or AKL, I've only seen pictures. I'm sure we'll be impressed when we pull up.
What rock have I been hiding under that I just now found this! I'll read all about your plans and be ready for when you get back. Have a safe trip! I hope I get to see some pics on Facebook
There's nothing better than being at Disney with the people that make me happy and make my life worth living. Looking forward to spending this time with them, far from the stress of daily life.
Trip Update
♫ Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane...♫
Finally, tomorrow I'll be at my happy place. Everything is all set. I already did my flight check-in and printed our boarding passes. Now we're just waiting around and I'm stressing until it's time to head to the airport. We'll be leaving home at 12:30am. I'll try to get the kids to sleep at 9ish so at least they can rest for a couple of hours, but I don't know if I'll succeed.
I went to my parents house to say goodbye and my dad gave me "the talk" again. He also told me he won't relax until we get back. He adores those boys of mine.
We're waiting for it to stop raining so we can go over to Arben's parent's house and say goodbye to them.
I almost sure that I won't be taking my laptop. I don't want the added stress of looking after that too. So I don't think I'll be checking in here until I get back. But for those of you following on Facebook, I'll be doing some posts and adding pictures.
So, this is a goodbye for now. See you when I get back. We out!
