Taggin' Along Compliments of Disney! - Page 43 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Very cute costume. Did Hope get looks of candy or just a little bit? When Evan was that small we only did a few houses. This year we did about 3 streets and he has more candy then he will ever eat. I wonder who will help him with that?
OMG, I'm going to Disney Nov 2011 too!! I'm going for Jersey Week and staying until the week of Thanksgiving. Do you know when you will be coming down? Maybe our dates will overlap a little. We are doing Shades of Green although I would love to get AKL. Mom can book Shades 1 year out so I told her to go online this Thanksgiving to secure our rooms.
I am glad you had a fun Halloween! Hope looked adorable! I have always wanted to see a Disney wedding!! I am super excited that not only you will see one but that Hope will be part of one…can’t wait to see all the pictures!! BC looks lovely & sounds wonderful I don’t blame you for wanting to go back! Side note when my son dropped his carmel apple it was almost gone he had been eating away at it for at quite awhile.
OMG....Hope is adorable!!! I always loved dressing the boys up in their costumes & taking them trick-or-treating. I know I say this alot, but they grow up so fast!! I know how much you are enjoying each stage with Hope!!
The wedding will be so much fun! She will be getting to a great age by then. And, as for your next family vacation....I think either choice sounds awesome!! It's great to hear that BC was a top choice! Good luck deciding & planning....as you know, the planning is part of the fun!! Can't wait to read more.....I'm waiting for those matching shirts to turn up!
That was an easy costume to put her in and it was so nice and warm. As for the wedding, I don't think we'll even have time to tour the parks, so we definitely need a trip before we go.

I must say that Thanksgiving 2011 will be a GREAT time to go to WDW. We will be arriving for our birthday celebrations on Nov 23 (after a 3 day cruise on the Dream) and will leave on Nov 26. Maybe we will see you there. OH! And we will be at AKL Club level. It would be awesome to visit with a Passporter while we are there.
We might just be there at the same exact time! We were thinking of going the Saturday before Thanksgiving and coming home the Saturday or Sunday after. So it looks like there is a definite chance!

Good luck with your vacation plans for next year and the whole DDP Vs. Club Level. We too have been talking about those two issues and we have decided on doing CL at the GF. We have done the DDP the past 2 years and while I'm sure it's a great savings for some familes, we just aren't into the restrictions of it. Swapping out "desserts" and grabbing waters instead, not being able to get an appetizer...yadda, yadda. The day we were leaving on this past trip, we went over to GF and told them we were interested in doing CL on our next visit. A CM took us up and showed us the lounge and also gave us a price list. We were sold! Now it's just figuring out when we want to go back.
I guess if we can score club level than the decision will be made. It looks fabulous and that is the only hotel that we can book club level with our DVC points. I would love to stay club level at one of the other resorts, but I wouldn't be able to use our points. There aren't many club level rooms available for DVC members, so it might not even happen for us and then I will definitely be trying to book BCV again.

May is such a nice time for a wedding, sorry that it but a change in plans regarding your family trip but a Thanksgiving trip sounds perfect, getting to enjoy all the holiday decorations and then you still have the wedding to look forward too...
Thanks! I guess two chances to get back to Disney World are better than just one!

That would be great if we were there at the same time. We would probably go form the Saturday before Thanksgiving to the Saturday after. So that might hit during the time you're there....you never know!

I can't wait to see her all dressed up as a flower girl, especially for a Disney wedding. It will definitely be a different experience, which is good since I love doing new things there.
Hope is too cute! Glad she enjoyed trick or treating.
Good luck with akl club level! Call on the exact day 11 months out. I've been lucky the past few times and next year I even scored a 2 bedroom club level room!!!
And how exciting to see and be a part of a Disney wedding! I hope you get to enjoy things while you're there too.
Hope looks so cute in her costume!
And remember...I will be your little guinea pig about the crowds this Thanksgiving. I will let you know how it goes.
Hope looks so adorable! Hope she had a great time. They are so cute at that age, trying to figure out just what to do, and then when they finally get the hang of it. I took my 2 nephews (age 2 and 3) out since my dumb brother was too lazy to take them. Only problem was some folks gave them extra candy, so after that they thought they should get more at each house.

We're going to do exactly that...call right at the 11 month mark. Wow...you're really moving up in the world with a 2 bedroom club level room! Maybe I should have you call for me since you seem to be super lucky when it comes to scoring a room!

I will definitely be gathering as much info as I can from your TR so make sure to get lots and lots of details!

Thank you! She had a great time for it being the first time. She didn't really understand the whole concept of taking the candy. She would take one and hold onto that piece until we got to the next house, and then she would drop that piece in their basket so she could get another one. She was kind of trading one for the other.
The alarm didn’t even go this morning because Hope decided at 5:30am it was time for us to get moving. Now normally when she gets up this early I just let her talk to herself a bit and she eventually gets bored and falls back to sleep for another 2 hours, but that’s when she’s in her crib alone in her room. Here she’s standing up in the pack-n-play and staring right at me while I’m lying in bed. How could I pretend I wasn’t there?!? Besides, I would have been getting up in 15 more minutes anyway. I put her in bed with my mom and I got up and got showered. Eventually my mom got up and we left Hope in bed to watch the Disney Channel.
I think she might have been saying "Oh no" while watching something...very concerned here.
We had 7:50am ADRs at Kona Café this morning, so we left the room and were down on the bus stop by 7:00am, just in case the buses were running few and far between. There was one other couple waiting, and they said they had already been waiting for about 15 minutes, and they too were also going to Kona Café…small world. We got to talking to them, and before we knew it a bus arrived for MK.
We stopped at the Boardwalk real quick and then we were off. We probably got to MK around 7:20am so we were making very good time. We strolled on over to the monorail and hopped on to make our way to the Poly.
The monorail was pretty empty until we got to the Contemporary, then everyone decided they wanted to get on. We finally reached the Poly with 10 minutes to spare.
When we arrived, they checked us in early and were seated in no time…right next to the people that were on our bus!!! This was our first time eating here, so we were really excited, however, our waiter didn’t seem to be too thrilled to be working this morning. His name was Bob, and while he seemed like a very nice person, he just didn’t seem very happy. This was the recurring theme of our meal…Bob needed to get happy. We ordered our meals and waited for Bob to bring them back to us. While we waited Hope played with her crayons and I got a few pictures.
Bad picture...mom's camera not mine
Finally our food arrived…I got the Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes with the butter on the side.
And mom got the Two Eggs Your Way.
We asked for a plate for Hope and they brought her a Mickey head shaped plate…too cute.
While the pineapple butter was heavenly, I wasn’t too impressed with the pancakes. I didn’t like the peanuty flavor that came from all of the Macadamia nuts. I guess I was thinking it would taste sweeter, like the cookie, but it didn’t. Plus, they give you such huge portions I didn’t even put a dent in it. Mom really liked hers, and Hope enjoyed bits from both of our plates.
During the course of our meal, every time Bob would come around mom and I would talk about how nice it would be to see him smile or something. Well, mom says, “When he comes back with the check and asks if there’s anything else he can do for us, I’m going to say yes, I would like for you to smile.” I looked at her and said, “If you say that to him I’m seriously going to crawl under the table.”
Well, sour puss Bob came back and as if scripted said, “Is there anything else I can do for you ladies today?” And right on cue, my mom says, “Well, sort of. Are you having a bad morning, because we would really like to get a smile from you.” And with that I think I turned as pink as my shirt, but boy, oh boy, Bob thought that was the greatest thing he’s ever heard.
With that he was all smiles, and he just started talking and talking, “No, I’m having a great day, but you know I’ve been doing this for almost 15 years. I have to get up every morning at 5am, and I guess it’s just because I’m a little tired. No wonder the people I work with tell me that I need to smile more, maybe they’re right…” on and on and on. It was like she opened the flood gates and the water just kept flowing.
Mom and I just looked at each other in amazement with our mouths hanging open until he finally stopped and took a breath. I guess no one had ever engaged him in conversation or joked around with him before, but today, oh today my mom just made his day. So after he took our money and walked away, we just started laughing. I said, “I can’t believe you actually said it.” And my mom replies, “Well aren’t you glad I did. Now he’ll be smiling the rest of the day.”
He came back, and sure enough there was still a huge grin on his face. He talked a little bit more with us and then we had to get going so we could head on over to MK. We left the restaurant and while mom was getting Hope all settled back in her stroller, I started taking pictures of the lobby.
All of sudden I hear someone say, “And here I was smiling for you and you didn’t even take my picture.”
So I turn around and there’s Bob standing outside of the restaurant with his hands on his hips impatiently waiting for me to get a picture of him. My mom must have had some magic power over this man because now we couldn’t get rid of him. I called my mom and Hope over, and I took a picture of them together. Now Bob will forever be a part of this trip.
We left the Poly with very full stomachs and smiles on our faces and made our way on over to MK, missing rope drop by 15 minutes…darn! It was looking like it was going to be a beautiful day, and I couldn’t wait to finally meet up with my friends today.
I noticed you girls are wearing your matching shirts, they are super cute!
Is that a Pooh blanket Hope has? Lexi has one that she got as a newborn that is the same fuzzy material. She is attached to that thing and you can't pry it out of her hands when its nap/bed time.
You guys look so cute in the shirts. I almost bought those same shirts at the Disney store for me and my two girls!
Glad your mom said something to Bob! He should be grateful, it probably made for better tips for him the rest of the day. I don't like having a grumpy waiter/waitress.
Sorry you missed rope drop at MK.
