We're going to WDW! Adventures of a Mom & Toddler Trip, PTR - Page 43 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I have just discovered that one of my high School best Friends lives in Orlando and do does her boyfriend whom also went to High School with us. We are planning to meet up on Skyler's and my last day in DTD after we leave AK. I haven't seen Annie & David in 10 years, so it will be so nice to see them too and catch up. We also are trying to arrange a PPer Meet that night too at either our resort or ASMu, or ASSports with Stephanie(sorry Stephanie, I'm drawing a blank on your PPer name) and her family. Her youngest son is Skyler's age, so it will be nice for him to make a new friend. I know we will need to pack, but since I've chosen AK over MK for that day(although I regret we won't get to see Spectro or Wishes this trip, also Fantasmic too), it will be relaxing to watch a movie at our resort under the stars by the pool with some new Passporter Friends.

Thank you so much everyone. I am so excited to have a mini High Sxhool Reunion. I have to admit, it will be a little ackward with David, since he was the "Most Popular Guy" in the Class of 2000, and every grl in our school had a massive crush on him (and I was quite intimidated to talk to him). At least being Married helps that ackwardness though.
In other trip news, my mom and I have had to communicate via e-mail, since her phone hasn't been able to receive new voicemail. Our Beach Day is going to be Saturday. Sunday, we may visit the Busch Wildlife Preserve if there is time, if not we will be busy baking Muffins (My mom's infamous Banana Nut and Blueberry for Skyler) to take along with us, along with swimming in the Pool at Mom's place, shopping for any snacks and more Pull-Ups, Wipes, & Swim Diapers for Skyler, since I am traveling with a small pack in my luggage, packing up mom's car that night and calling it an early evening since we will be up at (sorry Heather to steal your phrase) O'Dark O'Clock.
We have decided our first day of Disney will start
bright and early at 4 or 4:30 am. Mind you this is
early for Skyler & I, but not my mom whom is wide
awake at this time. We know we will need 1-2 stops on our way for the bathroom and to stretch our legs, as well as let Skyler burn off aome energy if he needs to. The Muffins will help
Simplify Breakfast with some fruit, and Mom already knows to have a pot of her delicious Freshly Brewed Cinnamon Coffee ready to go for the road
in to-go mugs. We're already planning to be Checked in at the hotel(room ready or not) and make it to DHS for Rope Drop. I have expressed to
her how I would like to try tonget FP for us to use on TSMM, incase the lines are long, I would love to ride it once if we're able to, and give Skyler the excitement of a ride wirh Buzz & Woody. We should have some time for a few rides before our 11:00 Lunch ADR at H&V. Since the QS food isn't the best, and mom wants tonstay away from Pizza, I have found a Panera Bread 7 minutes away from our resort. I have suggested that to Mom for Dinner or Subway if we don't eat at the resort, and Skyler & I can save that QS Meal Credit either or Dinner Wed. night or to use Thursday before we head home. Since we are bringing with snacks, and Skyler & I each only get 3 snack Credits (although one will be on a Dolewhip, & another for a Mickey Bar to share), since we have a late flight and food concessions may closed at the Charlotte Airport when we have our Layover, we will have some snacks to keep our tummies full until Erick picks us up.
I am looking foward to Saturday. D-inlaws are taking Skyler to a Children's Museum in Baltimore to see Bob The Builder( Skyler isn't familliar with him). I have actually re-done my Tip Envelopes
On the new computer an just need to print them out. I can also start packing then without the munchkin helping me(which will make it a lot less stressful). Tonight I need to go and get my glasses fixed again, order more contacts for Erick, and see how much either with our Vision Insurance will cost for a second pair of Glasses or see if their in-store Special Prices may be less. I know I need to do this before the trip anyway. My current pair will actually become my back up pair, sice I do want Transitions Lenses. I should also call in a refill for my Migraine Medication, since the doctor did put a few refills on it for me and not have to bother calling her office for a few months.
Even though our Disney Mail still hasn't arrived yet, this trip keeps feeling more official by the day knowing I'm PIF, ADRs are all booked, and both flights are Booked and paid for. I just keep getting more and more excited by the day that Skyler will finally get to visit my favorite happy place, and not only enjoy it with his Mommy, but his GiGi too. I just could not have imagined 22 Years after Celebrating my 1st Trip to Disney with my mom, I would be sharing this experience with her, and my own son.

Stephanie, I am so sorry. I will try to text you this week. For some odd reason when
I've gone to PM you, the site gets lost. I
promose I have been trying to PM you back.
The Passporter site does like to give me
trouble from time to time. I am so excited to
meet you and your family on our trip, an for
my little guy to be able to make some friends
with your children. Not much longer!
Its all coming together! Mail should be there soon!
Thank you so much. I've been the only one antsy(in an excited way of course) for the mail each day. Something about expecting mail from Disney makes you not dread the bills and the not so exciting mail!
I had an easy time orderin Erick's contacts he's needed. I on the other hand have to go back on Saturday for a not so fun eye exam in order for them to allow me to get my second pair of glasses, due to Virginia state laws. I am miffed though since our Vision Insurance company was to cover the cost of one full pair of glasses and or contacts or 1/2 of a second pair. Nowhere did they say it needed to e purchased the same day. I feel like I am inbetween a rock and a hard place, since my vision insurance company claims I'm not elligable until 9'days after I get back from Florida. I know I beed the second pair knowing my luck of Skylerstretching and breaking my glasses on me, or if I accidentally lose a pair. Luckily the frames I liked with anti-glare Transitions Lenses wasn't that expensive that I can get them then. Otherwise I am out of luck if I go with only one pair if they break.
I thought by now we'd have our Disney mail. They said around the 45 day mark we should be receiving it, but still nothing! Oh well, hopefully it will be in my mailbox when I get home today.
I guess your inlaws are taking Skyler to Port Discovery in Baltimore. I heard that's a very good Children's museum here, but I have never been before...no children until now. But he should have a blast there!
I'm all caught up again! Sounds like you've been quite busy with Skyler, trying to get swimming lessons and potty training and all that done. I am so impatient to have children....lol! Reading about you and Skyler makes me smile.
I too, have an Iphone, and love it! I'm a "List Person" as well, so I love having the ability to put my to do lists on my phone, and the calendar is awesome as well...Plus I have Apps on there for Disney...the wait time app, and then this one that keeps track of all my confirmation numbers and dining reservations for Disney. It's awesome!
I just got my Disney Mail a couple of days ago, so you should get yours in the next couple of weeks! Woot!
So exciting getting Disney mail. It some how becomes more official when everything is in-hand. I hope it comes soon. Skyler should have fun this weekend. Be sure to post it either here or the "kids say the darndest things" forum. Evan has a special event too. Going to "Touch a Truck" a fund raiser for Ronald McDonald house. This is every little boys dream come true. Every type of vehicle imaginable and all for him to climb in. Looking forward to your next post.

Melissa, I am so with you thinking the Disney Mail would be here already. I will be excited when it comes though. I hope your's cones soon though. My inlaws are taking Skyler to Port Discovery Children's museum. I'm hoping he has a great time and we're able to take him back there in the near future. It looks like great fun. I know there used to be a Children's Museum in DC (that had a giant Cootie Bug in front) and I think they closed down. I remember that placing so much fun when I came to visit DC as a child and was hoping to take Skyler there. I'm sure Hope may enjoy Port Discovery.
