The Surviving Deployment Trip Report, Updated 10/18 COMPLETE!! - Page 43 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Oh yeah!
I know what you mean about the sickness. I just finally got over mine last week and here I sit in bed sick again. I don't think this is going to be a good winter for me.
Stay well this trip.
Oh no, Liz! That's horrible! I am so sorry you are sick again. I hope you get well really soon.
Thank you so much Laura for your wonderful TR and final thoughts, which brought tears to my eyes. I hope you have a wonderful trip with your DH and Victoria and good health for all three of you. Can't wait to read your next TR.
Great final thoughts.... a great trip overall.... I can't wait to get caught up with the R & R one...Hi Michael.....You guys enjoy daddy while he's home....
Well, it took me all day to read your TR.... I stopped and started all day long.
Thank you for sharing all of your wonderful pictures!
I am absolutely green with envy that you were able to get pics with the Sherriff of Nottingham and Prince John... Robin Hood is my absolute favorite Disney movie of all time! I didn't even think they had any of the chacters do meet and greets.
Your daughter does have a true gift and I loved seeing her sketches with all of the characther autographs.
Here I am hoping that you are having a wonderful trip and I know what you mean about being aprehensive about seeing your DH and hoping you can be normal again! I have the same concerns and I am looking forward to any tips you can give me about the transition to the Real World after your exprience. I have 8 more weeks to wait until I get to see my DH and I cannot wait but do not know what to expect.
Great wrap-up. It was a pleasure getting to read your TR. Sorry it took you so long to get over being sick - and I hope that means it's gone for good.
Can't wait to read about your trip to see the real Michael!!
I just finally got caught up! I am glad that you were still able to have a great time inspite of your cold. Hope your current trip is great! My DH's R&R was the same time last year

Once again I just had to say that your dd is very talented. my dd and I were in awe of her sketches. Im sorry that you were sick. Im glad you had a great time. I hope that you are having a super time now that michael is there
Okay...totally just caught up on a bunch of your last posts. And I missed wishing you a great time on this trip now.
So sorry you were so sick, but what a trooper to keep on going. You guys saw some amazing characters, and I can't believe how many obscure sketches Victoria had in her book!! How long did it take her to make all of those, and how many did she have all together?
What a nightmare DME experience! Yikes!!
I really enjoyed following along on your trip and I can't wait to hear about the next one with the "real" Michael!
Just finished the report, what a great trip! Sorry that you got sick, but glad to see you made the most of your days anyway. I hope this next trip is even better. Thanks for sharing with us!
thank you so much for sharing your wonderful trip with us. I had a lot of fun reading your holiday report!! Your daughter strikes me as an awesome person! I loved how she walked around like Alice in Wonderland and how she was so kind to that little girl! Some of her poses in the pictures were very funny.

Okay so i'm late with my comments...super late. But, I loved reading this TR! I love my mom and we have the same relationship as you two do. It was so nice to read about your trip together. Victoria is delightful! I love her drawings and its so nice to see a young girl so responsible and talented and polite and not acting like those idiots with donald.
So I have many a comments and I see i'm already behind on your new trip report which upsets me.
I spent all day in and out of sessions with clients reading this all at once
It was really great!
The Lackland AFB was awesome! for 27 dollars you cannot beat that!
Sorry about your experiences with DME. Its hit and miss. But, so far I've had great service from them but I hear bad experiences like yours more often than not.
We stayed in the SAME building at POP for our first visit to that resort years ago! I love POP resort. Its a fave of mine. I hate that about your room being dirty but it looks like they made up for it later.
It was so great that you had so many magical moments and got the roll of stickers which i"m sure your husband loved!
1900 park fare for breakfast was yummo but we did not have a great experience with the characters like you did for dinner. Victoria reminds me of myself with prince charming. I reacted the same way to guys when I was her age. My mom thought it was the best and loves to tell me those stories still *LOL*
I too Tren-D , we just thought that was the coolest store with awesome merchandise.
I know what you mean about the heat and humidity! I was absolutely terrible for our visit and I cannot imagine being sick in that weather....poor girl I think your daughter did a FAB job taking care of you!
I her costume. I was alice last year as well and we thought the character interactions at the party with the Mad hatter and the rest of the gang were amazing! I couldnt figure out if it was because we were close to their ages and as much in character as they were but we spent an hour or more just "hanging" out with them at park closing!
The Haunted Mansion CM's at the MNSSHP are my fave BTW! They are always so cool and always in character!
We love TSM too! Its great isn't it??? we've thought about buying the Wii just for the game!*L*
Ohhhh and Caspian is hot, I don't blame your daughter reacting the way she did *L*
I think its so great the character interactions that you guys had with the drawings. I really think it made for a much more special trip to remember forever!
One last thing, Le Cellier is our absolute fave resturant now as well! We had the same exact order as you guys....
I'm so glad I got to come back and read this! It was wonderful of you to share it with us.
Now I have to find your new TR and get caught up *L*
Your daughter strikes me as an awesome person! I loved how she walked around like Alice in Wonderland and how she was so kind to that little girl! Some of her poses in the pictures were very funny.
Thanks! She is pretty amazing, if I do say so myself.
