Merry, Magical, and Bright: Late Fall Adventures of Cam & Luke Updated 3/12 - Page 41 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great time for the two holiday events at Studios! The Hollywood Tower Hotel looks amazing with the different colored projections on it! Very nice interaction with Brandon and quite an intuitive young man!
Tower of Terror was so cool with the projections. Brandon made this evening even more special.

We're hoping to get back for Christmas maybe in 2018. Brandon was a sweetie.

NEXT: Will I Get Motion Sick on Seven Dwarfs Mine Train or Not?
Day 8 Sunday, November 12 Part 1 at Magic Kingdom and Disney Springs
We slept about a half hour later today, but still made it to the bus stop by 8:50. When we arrived at Magic Kingdom, we immediately sensed that the crowd level was lower today, and suspect that many families from New Jersey were headed home. Our first goal was to get breakfast at the Main Street Bakery Starbucks. Luke got the Banana Bread with a Venti Caramel Frappuccino, a first for him. I picked a Chocolate Croissant with a Tall Hot Chocolate. Once we had our breakfast items in hand we moved the area of tables outside The Plaza and munched while people watching. I also took some Dramamine in hopes of avoiding any motion sickness on our first FastPass attraction of the day, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
Once we finished we made our way into the Hub where we had some PhotoPass photos taken in front of the castle. You’ll see in these photos that I have a jacket on at this point. The morning g was just a wee bit on the cool side. The Move It! Shake It! Dance & Play It! Street Parade was making the park lively behind us in the background. In actuality, this made for some interesting photos unlike any we’ve had with the castle before.
When the parade finished, we were free to continue to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. We entered the FastPass queue and probably about 4 minutes later we were boarding a mine car and off to the mines. Hi Ho! Hi Ho! I survived, even enjoyed, the entire rocking ride without even a hint of motion sickness. WooHoo! Evidently, the day was warming up as I now have my jacket off and stowed in my backpack.
While waiting for our next FastPass window to open, we wandered Liberty Square where we stopped for a little bit to take in The Muppets Present . . . Great Moments in American History. This was a different show than we had seen in May, but I didn’t write down what history lesson was being told and now I don’t remember.
Next we moved into Frontierland, wandering in and out of shops. At one point, we spotted a squirrel, but all I managed to photograph was his backside and tail.
Eventually, we arrived in Adventureland at the Sunglass Hut shop where I hoped to find another pair of Ray Bans, but nothing appealed to me today. Finally, we could board the Jingle Cruise with FastPass #2. I do love the Christmas additions and overlay, but the FastPass queue was short and moving fast, so some of my photos there are a wee bit blurry.

Soon enough we were boarding Wassail Wanda manned by Skipper Candice who was strikingly familiar. I told Luke I was positive she had been our skipper on our cruise in May. I did check our May photos later when we got back to the room, and we had indeed cruised with Candice in May. Lots of photos to follow as a wassailing we go.
There were even wreaths inside the boats.
The natives were even throwing a Christmas party.
I took a couple of photos of Skipper Candice to compare to our May trip.
[
It was now around 11:30 and we were already hungry again, so we decided to lunch at Pesos Bill’s. We got a Taco Platter to share. It comes with one beef taco and one chicken taco and a side of yellow rice. Just the right amount for the two of us. Because it was much less crowded today, we managed the condiments bar more easily and found a table quickly.

Wow, blown away by your photos of the two light shows at DHS! And what a wonderful encounter with Brandon. Interactions like that are part of what makes WDW so special!

Nice start to the day in the MK with some nice PP photos of the two of you. That was quite a short wait for 7DMT even with FP+. Love the theming for Jingle Cruise and seems like another great experience.

Congrats on surviving SDMT with no motion sickness! Now you know to take a dramamine every time and you'll be good to go!
Definitely! I felt the Dramamine came in handy quite a bit this trip. I took it on our Pandora days as well.

The park was really easy to navigate this day as the crowd level was so low. I was so excited that our wait at SDMT was so short.
Great pictures of Sunset Boulevard all decked out for the holidays. We enjoyed Jingle Bell Jingle Bam and the projection show on the TOT. Really touching story of your interaction with Brandon. What an unexpected and wonderful way to end your evening! Cute and fun photos of you and Luke at the Magic Kingdom! Glad you had no motion sickness issue and enjoyed your ride on SDMT. I love that ride!

My conversation with Brandon was the highlight of this day. I love SDMT, too, and get motion sick on it last May made me very sad. Thankfully, the Dramamine worked.
I love the way they do the Jingle Cruise - it looks as if it's quite simple - i.e. it's laid over existing signage and therefore quite easy to do (I have no idea if it is though?) and it makes such a difference, changing the whole ride. Your trip report is making me want to go back to WDW around the holiday season again....
