As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

WE HAVE POWER!!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart for ALL the pixies and well wishes for my family and our surrounding shore towns. We got our power back this afternoon from a crew that had come up from Miami just to help out in this tragedy.
The Presidents visit to Brigantine today was so touching. Arnaud was born and raised in Brigantine, right on the bay. His back yard was a bulkhead and the whole big bay to play around in. He was a lifeguard on those beaches for years. Our first place was a great condo right on the lagoon side of Brigantine, we finally moved inland when we decided to buy a home as the homes there were way out of our price range at the time. So many of our favorite bars and restaurants have been destroyed. Our friends homes have been damaged and our hearts have been forever bruised from Sandy.
The footage of Atlantic City that the media has been showing are very sad. However the main part of the city where the casinos are seem to be fine with little damage. The casinos are still not open, which means a loss of income for myself and all of my employees as I run an entertainment company that books dancers and models for the casino nightclubs and VIP events. Most of the damage now is the amount of sand in the streets and how to remove it all. They have been bringing in snow plows for that. My sister is an AC resident and has still not been allowed to go back to her high rise.
Our surrounding towns of Margate, Ventnor, Longport and Ocean City have severe damage as well. Again many of our friends homes have major damage and some of our favorite places to go out to eat or drink have been greatly damaged as well. Not to mention the damage to our beautiful beaches. However if any of you know about "LUCY" the elephant.......she is just fine
Sandy made landfall right below AC in Somers Point, about 5 miles from my home. The eye came over top of us at one point and we thought the storm was over, almost thought about bringing the kids back upstairs to their bedrooms. I'm glad we didn't because the worst was yet to come.
I live on the mainland ( I sound like Tinkerbell here) but I am a mile from the bay. I'm not sure why we were told to evacuate for Irene but not for Sandy. Our area really is not prone to flodding though.
My heart is breaking for the other shore towns north of us and also for NYC and the mass transit. I hope all of my other fellow PP'ers are all safe and haven't had too much damage to their towns or homes. My heart goes out to ALL of you. Thank you all again sooo very much for your kind words. They have meant the world to me
Yay for power!!! I still can't get over the damage they are showing on TV. Continued thoughts and prayers for everyone affected. Glad you are doing well.

Linny - so glad that you and your family are all okay! Yeah for power! We are still without.
I havea close friend who lives in Matawan but her mother and grandmother live in Absecon and Ventnor - I have finally heard from my friend who reports that all are doing okay - some flooding but okay and safe!
Glad Lucy is all good
Continued thoughts and prayers for your state

It's amazing how localized the damage is-- skipping one neighborhood, but devastating the next. I can understand your deep feelings and connections to that beautiful area. Hope AC opens for business soon. A long closure could mean the end for businesses that are on the edge right now. It's hard to imagine no working subway for NYC. My friends in lower Manhattan are still not allowed home.
I'm so happy you made it out of this okay, but some of the images are just breaking my heart. I saw a photo of North Wildwood, and it was pretty much under water. That's where we used to vacation when I was little, and still make trips up there today with Hope. It just made me so sad seeing it, and I hope everyone can pick themselves back up and make it through this tragedy.
And is there anything you need that you can't get right now that I can send up to you? I know bread and milk won't hold up well in the mail , but if there are items that you need that can be shipped just let me know and I'm on it.

I work at the Delaware Memorial Bridge and I have seen fleets of trucks, electrical companys, tree service companies etc heading for New Jersey to help out. Some have been all the way from FL. We have also sent some of our national guard your way to help out. Its amazing how the neighboring states near and far come together in times like this. It is just too close to home. Our beach towns are finally letting people in and trying to remove the sand from the roadways. I have only been to OC, NJ once but AC many many times for concerts and the casinos and to imagine part of the boardwalk gone and the casino's closed, is heartbreaking.

Just found your wonderful report. First very glad that you and your family are safe. Secondly glad you were blessed at WDW with some extra's. You did not ask for them enjoy your magical memories. My prayers continue to be with those on our east coast who have been affected by this horrendous storm.

Yay for power! And ditto to Melissa's response. If there's anything you need that we can send just let us know. I saw pictures of lines waiting to get gas - it's crazy and ours just keeps dropping - it's under $3 here!

I am sorry you are still without power, I know how much that really stinks.
Our first house was in Absecon and ARnauds parents still live there on the bay.
Glad your friends are safe and our Lucy is still standing!!

Oh it's just so sad, I really have no words. I just can't get over Manhattan without a subway. I have a trip planned up there in a few weeks, who knows what will come of that. I hope your frinds can get home soon.

It does make me smile to know of all the help we have been getting from across the country.

Thank you so much, it will take some time but we will re build.
Thank you all again for the warm words and asking if we need anything. It is amazizng how supportive you all are. I can't thank you enough.
We are fine and don't need anything, but if you feel the need to help in some way I can tell you donations to the Red Cross are helpful. Even if you pick your favorite Jersey shore town and donate some food, goods or cleaning supplies to them, that would all be helpful too. I know the Atlantic County Animal Shelter is in need of supplies as well as their shleter was hit pretty hard too.
I found a great article tonight about how Disney is donating 2 million dollars to Hurricane Sandy relief. That made me cry. I posted earlier that this would be the reason my family will continue to go back to Disney year after year.
