As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I've been doing some playing around with editing my pictures. I had read that when you add a border to your picture it draws your eye to the picture more. I actually used to put borders on my pictures several years ago, but stopped. So I edited some today with borders. They won't be showing up right away, but when you see them, let me know if you like it better that way. if you don't like it so much, I will skip that extra step. Though I have to admit, I do like it better. Just to show you, heres the same picture one with border and one without.

I agree, I prefer the one with the border. The photo seems more defined.

Looks like the border is winning....Ok, as I work on pictures, I'll keep adding borders. So you wil lsee them pop up eventually. But I have a lot of pictures done that do not have the border too, so it will be a mixed bag.
We made our way out and looked for Mindy. She was nearby and we headed off again.
It was so dang hot, so I went off and got a Mickey Bar. I think the others were going to look for a drink somewhere, so I was going to just meet up with them.
I had to eat this baby FAST…It was literally melting in my hands.
I found the others easily enough and they had yet to find a drink they wanted without a mile long line.
We did find a stand that sold frozen drinks and Brook decided to stop. Patty thought it sounded good too, and I was still really hot, so I too got a drink. Mindy went off to talk to someone at a DVC stand.
The line wasn’t too long and I took a few shots while waiting.
Drinks in hand.
Brook got some sort of frozen coffee type drink, if I remember right.
I think Patty got something Mango.
And lemonade for me!
I had been eyeing this store while in line. It had the cutest orange T-shirt with an animal print Mickey on it, so we headed over there.
I loved the shirt, but didn’t like the price tag. I would see this shirt over and over throughout the week and was tempted many times to get it, but in the end I just couldn’t spend that much on a t-shirt.
I took some shots while inside.
Again, most turned out blurry.
I know we also went into one or 2 other shops in the area while we waited for Mindy. Then we headed off. I wanted to do the safari. It had been a few years since I last been to it. I told them that they were more than welcomed to separate if they didn’t want to ride it. They decided to go on it too. We walked slowly. It was HOT and we had our drinks to finish before the ride as well. I was trying to hurry up with mine, but it was giving me brain freeze! LOL

We got to a spot where the Tree of Life just looked so pretty so we stopped and took a few pictures.
Back on our way.
We used our fast passes for the Safari, but we really didn’t need to. The line was non- existent. We cruised through the queue and I took a couple pictures…all of which came out extremely blurry.
Soon we were loaded in our vehicle.
This is where I made a mistake. It was SUPER hot. And there was no one in line after us, so the back few seats sat empty. BUT without thinking, all four of us jammed in 1 row. I was in the middle, and it did not work well for picture taking, plus it was so hot and sticky. We should’ve separated into 2 rows; it would’ve been more airy and easier to get shots. I also was fighting with the point and shoot camera. I had a heck of a time finding the animals on the screen, so I have a lot of blurry or half pictures of animals. I took a LOT, but more than half were really bad.
I thought it was funny that the bird was standing on the Hippo’s (who is under water) back.
If you look hard enough, you might see some blurry crocs in there.
Here is one of those trees that they say only has leaves like 1 month a year, or something like that. We wondered if they were real or not, since none of us have ever seen a leaf on them…I have since read that the ones at Disney are fake.
I took this one because way back there is the building that the Africa Trek people go to. I think they look out over the Savannah from there; it might be where they eat lunch too.
I really loved the Giraffes, and I kept shooting away, but had a hard time getting what I wanted.
I kept trying to get the baby, but again, It just wasn’t going to be a perfect shot.
Those fluffy, blurry balls are ostriches, and it looks like they have no heads.
I had like 6 pictures of the lion, one was completely missing him and the others were blurry on only had a body part. LOL
Evidently we were playing a game of hide-n-seek.
I would like to call the next couple of pictures “the butt series”.
One last Ostrich before we call it quits.
We got off and tried to decide what to do. It was getting closer to closing time, so our options were going to be limited. Mindy wanted to do Dinosaur, but my head was pounding again with a headache, and the bumpy safari ride hadn’t helped it any. I told her she could go, but I was passing on it this time, since it’s so jerky. I decided I was just going to leisurely start walking to the front and take pictures. I was so fed up with the point and shoot after the safari that I decided to see if I could squeeze a little more battery life out of the SLR. The other 3 decided to head up front and shop a bit before heading back. Mindy’s ultimate goal was to go swim in Storm Along Bay back at the Yacht Club. I think Patty agreed to go in with her for a bit. I am not much of a swimmer, and without Claire, it just didn’t sound fun to me.
I’m happy to say, my SLR did last until I left the park, so I got some shots as I walked up towards the front.
