Escaping The Brutal Northeast For Sunny, Warm Florida and Fun! Completed 7/12 - Page 40 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

After a nice meal at Jiko and being just about 9:15 pm or so, I wasn’t quite ready to call it a night yet. Although, Bob Jackson was playing again at Riverside, I just saw his show last night, so I decided to go to The Boardwalk once again instead. I had one of the CMs outside of the Animal Kingdom get me a taxi to take me there. I could of gone the bus route from here to DTD and another bus to The Boardwalk, but this was much more direct, even if I had to pay for it. I was at my destination in about ten minutes. Taking buses would have been much longer. I bet it would have been a good hour with the bus route and waiting! Not sure what it cost me as it was a good year ago, but probably around $17-$20 including tip!
It is night now and sorry some of the photos aren't prime quality, but in general, pretty good!
In all my trips to WDW, I have never been to either Atlantic Dance Hall or JellyRolls. Tonight, I thought I would change that and give one of them a whirl! I decided on the Atlantic Dance Hall as it was Karaoke night and thought this may be entertaining. I have been to Kimonos (sushi eatery at the Swan) for Karaoke in the past as it was always a good way to spend the night after a good dinner!
ADH is quite big and probably too big. Inside it looked more like an arena than a night spot. I thought there may be a good crowd here, but not at all. I payed the cover of $5 and gave it a try. The place is just too big for this kind of entertainment. This would be much better in a smaller place, like in one of the WDW resort lounges. Mostly this place is a dance hall (on most nights) and perhaps the space is put to better use, but not tonight. I thought it was a waste of time on my part and the karaoke, being pretty lackluster.
When I entered and hearing an individual doing "Sweet Caroline", I knew it would be time to go soon! At least do something more original as this is probably the most performed karaoke song ever! Perform some Beatles, The King (Elvis), Sinatra, Queen or Led Zeppelin. So much to chose from in this regard! I love Neil Diamond, but that song is just so overdone....and especially at the ballparks with the "so good" part!
At least I gave it a try! I may try JellyRolls on another trip with the dueling pianos, which is suppose to be entertaining. I think Kimonos is my best bet in the future for Karaoke, although, I don't usually seek this out. It's just a matter that I happen to be there and run into it!
Karaoke at Atlantic Dance Hall!
I think I was here only about fifteen minutes and decided it would better to spend my last night in Disney elsewhere on The Boardwalk. Eventually, I made the short walk over to The Boardwalk Resort and back to the Bellevue Lounge, which is always relaxing as is the great service in the lounge here. I thought this would be a good way to have a nice and relaxing time on my last evening!
The Boardwalk’s Bellevue Lounge
One of the Bellevue Lounge’s bartenders and one of the best on WDW property. I'm quite sure his name is Tim and he remembered me from previous trips, even though he hadn’t seen me since 2012, most likely. I guess that’s part of their job to remember their patrons! I think, if I remember correctly he's from Mass.
I ordered a glass of Brunello (red) wine and enjoyed that for a while. Brunello is a very nice wine from the Tuscany region of Italy and can be quite expensive and was surprised this one wasn’t that pricey! After taking it easy for a bit, I walked around the resort for a bit to capture some photos.
In the lobby of Boardwalk
Outside Boardwalk entrance
Boardwalk lobby at night
Staircase at The Boardwalk, which is quite something and seems to take one back to another period.
I returned to the lounge for a bit longer to enjoy my glass of wine for a while. I also had an espresso, even though it was late and usually doesn't bother me at night!
I left the Boardwalk by taxi back to Riverside at 11:30 or so and was back to my room in Alligator Bayou before midnight. I wasn’t real tired and stayed up for a while, just watching TV. I didn’t have to get up that early tomorrow, so this was fine. I finally went to bed around 1 am.
NEXT: A New Dining Experience with an Incredible Show!

In my many stays at the Boardwalk I've never been to Jelly Rolls or the Dance Hall. I've peeked inside and it's always way too loud for me! I'm not a night person in any case, but it's interesting to read what it's like there. I agree completely about Belle Vue Lounge. Such a wonderful place and atmosphere. MUCH more my style than the Dance Hall!
It's always interesting to try something new, but always smart to have a plan B, just in case!sounds like the Bellevue was just the ticket for a relaxing last evening on vacation. Good point about taking a taxi, instead of the bus!
Sorry Atlantic Dance Hall wasn't great - but glad you enjoyed the Belle Vue. We've been there before and really enjoyed our time there.
I guess, I didn't miss much not going there during my many trips to WDW! Belle Vue Lounge is one of the best in WDW!

Always love the Boardwalk as it seems quite peaceful at night with a good amount to do and not overly crowded! ADH was pretty bad and just no life to it...cellar dwellar material unfortunately!

I guess, I'm glad in a way I tried ADH, even though I didn't like it, but like you Belle Vue is my type of place and why I continue to go there!

There are quite a few options on The Boardwalk and to me Belle Vue is certainly the best as it's quiet and so relaxing! Even though, I had to pay a bit for the taxi there and back, the convenience of it is worth it!

Glad you had a great time at the Belle Vue! Great pictures!
Glad you enjoyed the photos! It was a nice and relaxing evening at Belle Vue after the boredom and the complete monotony of Atlantic Dance Hall! That venue needs to be put to better use....a reimagined Adventurers Club works for me!

You will have to check out Jellyrolls! It's such a blast and very entertaining
Of the two major clubs on the Boardwalk, unfortunately I picked the wrong one to go to! Will have to check out Jellyrolls next time! May be as enjoyable as Bob Jackson's show at Riverside (piano show, comedy etc), which I love!

Glad you enjoyed them as it's one of the most beautiful and best themed WDW resorts!
