As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: A Gargantuan Gathering of Passporter Peoples . . . PRE-TRIP -- PART THREE!!!!
Pre-Trip . . . Part 3 . . . “The Pitch” . . .
Well, we’ve made “plans”, but who knows how well we’ll stick to them, especially with so many PassPorters being there, we’ll probably end up making some impromptu plans! But . . . these are the plans I’ve pitched to Mike so far (and he’s so far agreed to everything), the only day that is definite is the first day . . . the rest are subject to change a little here and there!!!
Tuesday, November 29th
*** Mike gets up for work at 5am, Emilie and I get up at 7am
*** Emilie goes to school from 8-11am, so I get to finish packing!!!
*** 11am = I pick Emilie up from school. We go to the bank, get lunch and get gas in the car . . . since we get gas cheaper on the base and the base is the opposite direction from the interstate, I am getting it while I am running errands so we can just GO!!!
*** 12pm = Emilie takes a nap and I pack the car!
*** 1:30pm = Mike gets home from work . . . changes out of uniform and into vacation clothes!!!
*** 2:00-2:30pm central time, we LEAVE . . . stopping to fill up the gas tank and get dinner in Live Oak, FL . . . which is just past our “halfway” point, but where we ALWAYS stop on our drives down!
*** 10-11pm eastern time, we arrive and check in for the night at the Days Inn Maingate East (near Old Town Kissimmee on 192)
Wednesday, November 30th
*** Get up in the morning around 8am, get neat and pretty then check out . . . we have to be checked out of the Days Inn by 11am, but we’ll be out of there LONG before!
*** Go straight to Pop Century and check in . . . hopefully our room will be ready!
*** Whether we have a room yet or not, we’re heading to MGM as soon as we’re able ---- we have to go to Guest Relations and get our renewed APs activated, and of course, Playhouse Disney will be calling Emilie’s name! She hasn’t seen it since they replaced Rolie Polie Olie with JoJo’s Circus and she REALLY wants to see it!
*** 4:10pm – “Surprise” ADR at 50’s Prime Time Café . . . Mike has wanted to eat there for so long, and we’ve not been able to yet . . . I am NOT telling him about this one!
*** 6:00pm – Wander over near the big honkin' Hat and mill around by Mickey’s hand! We’re doing the Osborne Lights with PassPorter friends!!!
*** If we’re still feeling up to it, we might try to swing over by the MK for evening EMH . . . Magic Kingdom at night is my very favorite!!!
Thursday, December 1st
*** Get up and moving early . . . we’ve got to be at the MK turnstiles by 9am to make it on time for our . . .
*** 9:25am ADR at Crystal Palace (which appears to be a very popular place and time frame that morning)!!!
*** We haven’t nailed down exactly which park we’d like to spend the day in, but we’re thinking it might be an Animal Kingdom afternoon . . . then around 3:00 or 4:00 we’ll head back to the room, grab some sweatshirts (if we don’t already have them) and head back to . . .
*** Magic Kingdom for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and our . . .
*** 6:05pm ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern ---- Since I made it for myself and Emilie WAY before Mike decided to come along, we’re going to see if they can fit 3 of us in. I called a couple of days ago and Disney Dining said they have ZERO availability for ANYTHING that night!!! Mike said if they can’t take all 3 of us, then Emilie and I can go on and eat while he goes to Casey’s and gets a Dog and rides Space Mountain a bunch of times! We’ll be there towards the END of the big PassPorter dinner rush at LTT!
*** 7:15-7:30pm We’ll be standing around the Liberty Bell meeting up with some PassPorters to try and go ride the Frontierland mountains (and who knows what else, if we have time!)
*** 8:45pm is the OFFICIAL PassPorter MVMCP meet . . . and we’ll be there with bells on . . . OK, so maybe not LITERALLY! I will be looking out for the blinking Christmas tree hat of one certain Brit . . .
*** We plan on hanging out at MK until they kick us out!!!
Friday, December 2nd
*** It’s Morning EMH day at the Magic Kingdom and I am going to ATTEMPT to make it there as early as possible since the parade starts taping that day for the Christmas Day broadcast and it is BOUND to be a MADHOUSE!!! At this point I am figuring that if I get there at 8am, I have a pretty good chance of making it to the Hub by 10am!!! Mike has said he probably won’t join us until later though, but I don’t think he is aware of the potentially horrible crowds that will be there . . . methinks he will change his tune!
*** We’ve got a 10:10am ADR at CINDERELLA’S ROYAL TABLE!!! This has been LONG sought after for us and we FINALLY got it!!! We shall be there with bells on with our mini-Cinderella!!!
*** Not sure where we’ll head for the rest of the day, but I am not sure we are going to hang ANYWHERE near MK . . . UNLESS everyone and their brother are on Main Street and the crowds in the park itself are low then we will hit some rides! If it’s a complete madhouse, then this may very well end up being our “resort hopping” day! Either way, we’ve got to be in the MK area around 1pm!
*** We have to check Emilie in at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian between 1:00-1:30pm for the Wonderland Tea Party!!! Mike and I will have a whole hour to ourselves, so we are thinking about grabbing some lunch and sitting on the beach until we have to pick her up!!!
*** At around 5-6pm, we have to be back at the Polynesian to drop Emilie off at the Neverland Club for the evening . . . not sure where we might head after that, but all signs are pointing to Epcot so far . . . then it’s off to . . .
*** Pleasure Island for the OFFICIAL PassPorter Adventurer’s Club meet!!!
*** We can’t stay TOO long though . . . Emilie has to be picked up from the NC before midnight or she’ll turn into a pumpkin (and we’ll get in BIG trouble for not picking her up before they close)!!!

Re: A Gargantuan Gathering of Passporter Peoples . . . PRE-TRIP -- PART THREE!!!!
. . . CONTINUED FROM PREVIOUS POST
Saturday, December 3rd
*** We’ve got a 9:30am ADR at Chef Mickey’s (hmmmm . . . will Mike eat with us?) so we don’t have to get up QUITE so early, but I bet someone is anyways . . . darn that Emilie!
*** Methinks we are going to spend some time park and resort hopping, but I don’t know . . . other than the morning, our day is pretty well open! We might pop over to MK in the evening though, since I am not sure I want to chance the “Christmas Parade Taping” crowds during the day again . . . and the park is open until 11pm!
Sunday, December 4th
*** Can you believe I have NOTHING planned for this day?! We’re going to try as much as we can to get into Le Cellier for dinner though . . . Mike’s request! When I called (60 days out, because Mike didn’t mention anything until then Didn’t seem to think it’d be a big deal to wait.) they had NOTHING, so we’re gonna keep checking!!! He also mentioned Shula’s but they don’t have a kid’s menu and you have to dress “business casual” . . . and I am NOT packing anything but jeans and t-shirts! SORRY!!!
*** We’ve been talking about hitting MGM in the evening for EMH . . . Mike’s gotta get in a bunch of rides on ToT and RnRC, and I am itching to get some good night shots of the park (and ride Star Tours a couple more times)!!! Also, there is an 8:30 Fantasmic! that night (after the park has closed to regular guests . . . I’d like to try and get in for that one, since I HATE sitting there for an hour or more waiting! Emilie isn’t the best when it comes to waiting either!
Monday, December 5th
*** We can never see Eeyore enough, so we’ve got a 9:30 ADR at 1900 Park Fare!!! Will they have room for 3 of us? We shall see!!!
*** Who knows where we will end up after that . . . I haven’t planned anything, but we’ll probably try and hit everything we missed or want to do one last time.
Tuesday, December 6th
*** We’ve got a breakfast date with Lilo & Stitch at 10am!!! The plan . . . well, MINE anyways . . . is to drive to the TTC and park, then ride the monorail to the Poly . . . have breakfast, then ride the monorail over to the MK for one last ride on WHATEVER and that one last glimpse of the castle!!!
*** I want to be on the road no later than 2:30pm, which should get us home around 8pm (central) . . . then I can unpack some, and everyone can go to bed at a decent hour, since Mike has to work at 6am the next morning and Emilie has to go to school!!!
Wednesday, December 7th
*** Mike goes to work . . .
*** Emilie goes to school . . .
*** Sarah sits at home, feeling a little weepy, saying “MAN . . . this stinks that I CAN’T plan another Disney trip until we know where we’re moving to!”
Let me tell ya . . . these next 8 days just can’t go by fast enough!!! I am ready to go NOW!!!!!
COMING UP NEXT: Pre-Trip . . . Part 4 . . . “The Wait Out” . . .
