As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: DopeyGirl goes to Disneyland!!! THREAD 2 --- Day 5 Part 2 -- UPDATED 8/13!!!
DAY 5 PART 2 – “I wanna go in the whale, mom.”
During lunch at Village Haus, Emilie looked at me and said “Hey . . . I wanna go in the whale, mom.” So, we headed over to ride the Storybook Land Canal Boats . . . something I hadn’t done since 1981-ish!!! While waiting in line, a co-worker of my dad’s called mom’s cell phone. Charlie, his wife and their 2 daughters along with one other of their co-workers, Scott (who is also Charlie’s neighbor) and his wife and son had just gotten to Anaheim that afternoon. They told us that they had just gotten off of Mad Tea Party, which was just next to SLCB. We told them where we were and saw, as we were getting on our boat, that they were standing along the fence waiting for us . . . so my dad did the “parade wave” at them (elbow, elbow, wrist-wrist-wrist ). On with our ride on the Storybook Land Canal Boats!!!
Into the mouth of Monstro we go!!!
Jasmine’s palace and Agrabah
Cinderella’s village and Prince Charming’s castle
The Seven Dwarfs cottage and (you can’t see it well but) the Dwarfs Mine
Pinocchio’s alpine village
Prince Eric’s palace and ship
Once we got off of our Canal Boat, we met up with Charlie, Scott and families . . . they told my dad all about what he had missed at work and we discussed our next plan of action. Their whole crew was headed off to get a FP for Indiana Jones then go ride Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad . . . meanwhile, we were heading over near IASW to watch Disney’s Parade of Dreams!!! We found a place to sit (along a wall), grabbed a few (rock hard frozen) Mickey Bars from a cart across the way and waited for the Parade of Dreams to begin!!! (The time period that we were there, the parade ran at 3:15 from IASW to Main Street . . . then again at 7pm from Main Street to IASW.)
What a fantastic parade this was, you guys!!! HONESTLY!!! For one thing, Tinkerbell and Jiminy Cricket were in it!!! Another highlight was the rhinoceros with the Lion King float!!! He was too cool!!!
Waiting patiently for the parade to begin!!!
After the parade, most everyone headed back into Fantasyland or into the line for IASW . . . we got smart and ducked into Tomorrowland!!! As we passed by the Matterhorn, we saw that the line was VERY long and heard that it was down for the THIRD time that day . . . I KNEW at that point that I would not be riding it this time. And I was SO bummed, I can’t even begin to tell you!!! ANYWHO . . . we went into Innoventions . . . or as Emilie calls it “that place where you can do cool stuff.” We spent about an hour in there just checking everything out . . . and we found out that if Emilie’s little 30 pound self was on Pluto, she’d weigh just ONE pound and if she were on Jupiter, she’d weigh 67 pounds!!! (Note to self . . . move to Pluto . . . )
Lines for Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters were VERY long, but the line for Astro Orbitor was only 15 minutes long, so as much as I dislike that ride, we got in the line. I don’t like the one at WDW at all . . . it is just WAY too high up in the air for me and it freaks me out!!! I figured the one at DL wouldn’t be SO bad because it is on the ground, but oh my LORD . . . it wasn’t much better!!! It goes too fast, for one, so I got totally dizzy . . . THEN I didn’t seem to get the seatbelt on quite tight enough and I felt like I was going to go flying out of the tilted rocket!!! Needless to say, I was REAL happy to set my feet back on solid ground!!! (What we do for our kids, I tell you . . . )
Emilie was nice enough to let the grown-ups pick the next ride . . . and while my mom said she didn’t care, dad and I both said “PIRATES!” Well . . . it is both of our FAVORITE after all!!! Emilie wasn’t happy with the decision, but she is always fine once we are in the boat. We made our way across the hub, but first stopped for a photo with Mulan by the Partners statue. Why is it that ANYTHING near the hub and Partners attracts rude people who have no clue how to wait in lines or get out of the way?
Pirates was a 35 minute wait, but it was SO worth it again! I didn’t mind in the least that we had to wait that long . . . it would be the last time on DL’s Pirates until . . . who knows how long!!!
Once off Pirates, we started off towards Main Street with the intention of doing some shopping, but Charlie called to tell us they were just getting ON Pirates and wanted to meet us for dinner. So we made an about face and headed back to the exit of Pirates to wait for them. We made the mistake of stopping right by a kiosk to wait . . . and I ended up spending money. I hadn’t purchased any postcards or an ink pen yet . . . and it was a good thing because I found a really cute DL 50th anniversary pin there!!! SO . . . after a few minutes, Charlie and gang came out of the ride and we discussed where we’d like to eat dinner. We weren’t very hungry at the time (thanks to our BIG lunch at Village Haus) and they were wanting something quick and inexpensive without having to walk too far (since their FP time for Indy was coming up), so we got out the trusty guidemap. Café Orleans was closed, the other crew didn’t like the menu at Royal Street Veranda (I did. Clam chowder or gumbo in a bread bowl?! Are you kidding? Bring it on!!!) No one wanted to even TRY Rancho del Zocalo (I could have gone for a taco or two . . . ) so we all settled on the Stage Door Café. The menu choices were few and simple, but everything was hot and fresh!!! Your choices were chicken, fish or mozzarella cheese strips and fries. It made the choosing easy!!! Mom, Emilie and I split a mozz. and fries and dad had the fish. For $6.99 we got 6 fairly large hunks of mozz. cheese, some marinara sauce and a good amount of fries!!! And it was GOOD!!!
After dinner, Charlie and all headed to Indy while we started heading towards Main Street to do our shopping. I wanted to show Emilie Snow White’s Grotto and the Wishing Well, so we headed over beside the castle first and took a few photos . . .
Snow White’s Grotto
The DL resident swans . . .yes, they’re real!
Emilie beside the castle at twilight!!!
We walked over and took photos of King Triton’s Garden and Ariel’s Grotto as well . . .
Then we FINALLY made it to Emporium!!! I spent a whopping $225 in there!!! I tell you, it ain’t tough!!! Especially after 11 years!!! I STILL didn’t get everything I wanted . . . but I did feel like walking in there and saying “Wrap me up one of EVERYTHING!!!” Mom went across the street to Market House and bought herself a Grumpy insulated coffee mug and a Tigger insulated coffee mug for my youngest sister Julie (since she had just broken her DL coffee mug).
Shopping done, wallets TOTALLY dented and wearing out, we plopped ourselves down on the curb at the end of Main Street (kitty corner from Emporium) looking straight at Sleeping Beauty Castle. I found it hard to believe that in just about an hour, my Disneyland trip would be coming to an end . . .
COMING UP NEXT: Remember . . . Dreams Come True!!!

Re: DopeyGirl goes to Disneyland!!! THREAD 2 --- Day 5 Part 2 -- UPDATED 8/13!!!
Sarah, the parade looks amazing – I love Tweedledum (or is it Tweedledee ) in the teacup – how is that! And the rhino is really neat as well!
I love the look of Snow White's grotto - that's great. And what a way to finish the day off - some serious shopping until you drop in the Emporium!

The parade really does look amazing!!! Great pictures again! And the one of Emilie in front of the castle at twilight is very cute
I'm proud of your shopping damage! (I tend to spend the same amount as you but I feel that if I do it in smaller amounts at different places I haven't done as much damage )
