As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Colexi\'s Spring Break Adventure - Thread 3 of 3 - Updated 6/3
Whew! I have just caught up with all three threads of your trip report! It is SO good!
I love the pictures - - you and Matt both have an eye for photography! The description of your Princess lunch in Norway sounds wonderful - - we'll have to give it a try because I think DH is dying to eat there (the man loves herring!) and I've been a little scared to but your report gives me new found confidence.
It's so interesting to read about your children enjoying the same things that Mary Devall did (the playground between France and Morroco and the Mickey maze) and being frightened by the same things that frightened her (JIYI!).
And your descriptions of your meals are making me so hungry!
Come back soon with more!
Jill

Re: Colexi\'s Spring Break Adventure - Thread 3 of 3 - Updated 6/3
Sorry for the delay........it's been a crazy week again Where were we
Day 7 Part 2............
As we were leaving Canada, I noticed the times on the Off Kilter sign. They weren’t playing thru the weekend, today would be my last chance to see them Arrrghhhhhhhhhhh I had to see if I could fit that in We walked back toward the IG, but of course, the kids wanted to stop at the playground, so why not. We stopped to take some pictures in England first, and to see if Pooh was taking pictures. Of course, we had just missed the line, they had closed it off, so we weren’t going to wait around for that. Then we hustled over to France as well!
Is anyone keeping track of how many times I’ve stopped at the playground now? I’m not, but it’s got to be close to 5 times or more. The CM/volunteer (pink F&G shirt) working there even recognized us….”you were here yesterday” And we’ll probably be back tomorrow as well I snapped these pictures, but not sure if they were in the gardens next to the playground
The kids finally grew weary and wanted to head back to the pool Just a quick walk back to the room, we changed, and headed down to the kiddie pool again. We were at the pool for almost 2 hours, if my memory serves me. We had also gone over to the “kiddie” slide at the base of the big SAB slide, and they went down that for half an hour. Boy, I’m pooped! We headed up to the room, took tubs and showers, and Colin and Matt were out in record time. Of course, Alexa wouldn’t give in Well, hop in the stroller honey, we’re headed to Epcot to see Off Kilter. I had left Matt a note, left their park tickets, and turned my cell phone on. And we were off!
We encountered the longest line at the IG that I had seen It took a good 10 minutes to thru the turnstiles, if not longer People were already gathering for the show, so most of the benches were done (at least the ones in the shade) and I was not going to sit in the hot sun. I’ve had enough of that for one day. So I sat on the ground, right in the middle of the stage between the two rows of benches. It was a great show, and Alexa really enjoyed it as well. I must say, that she really appreciates the shows/acts/street performers at Disney. She always wants to stop and watch! Of course, I couldn’t resist a few pictures And I must say, these guys have quite a following
Watching the show
After the show ended we headed back toward the BC to see if the guys were ever going to wake up We stopped just thru the gates and snapped this one. The one she took of me didn’t come out so well!
I decided to take Alexa to the dock at the YC, because she has wanted to feed the ducks earlier. Along the way, I noticed the amount of hurricane damage that was still visible. You’d think they would have had it all cleared up by now
Chimney flashing
Now the food sign on the dock confuses me. It says “Don’t feed the ducks” and says Fish Food on the canister. But how are you supposed to feed the fish, when the minute you drop the food into the water, the ducks are all over it I would take a small handful and throw it a distance away, so I could also drop some for the fish. Alexa had a great time feeding them, we must have gotten about 3 handfuls worth of food! Matt called, to say that he was finally awake, but Colin was still sleeping. I told him were were just hanging out by the beach, there was no rush, just come down when he was ready.
We moved over to the beach so Alexa could play in the sand. I told her to stay out of the water, it wasn’t for swimming or playing in. Of course I get the “but I have to wash my hands off” whine! I pulled up a chair, and took some pictures. I also watched the Breathless out there zipping around
We saw some people leaving the boat dock pointing at something, so we went over to check it out, and there was a whole nest of duck eggs (I’m assuming).
There were lots of ducks around, but no one was protecting the nest. When we walked by the next day, the nest was gone. I hope someone moved it gently, and didn’t destroy it! Alexa found some friends to play with down at the beach, and of course was running in and out of the water, and got her dress completely soaked One of the kids running with her splashed her good (with his running in the water, not intentionally). Finally Matt called to say that Colin was awake I told him to meet us down at the beach near the dock, and to bring an extra set of clothes for Alexa (and a towel). They soon arrived, we changed Alexa, and then decided on what to do for the evening. Our choices were limited. We could head back to MK to see Wishes one last time (it was the last night it was showing since Friday and Saturday were Grad Nights and the park closed at 7 ), we could of course, head to Epcot, or we could go back to MGM. It was now 7:45, so we decided to take the boat over to the Boardwalk, and we’d rent a Surrey Bike. Yet another first for us Of course, I had to take more pictures of the sunset
We had a short wait for our Surrey bike, but then were quickly on our way. I didn’t realize how tiring this was I’d recommend this in the AM, and not at the end of the day! Of course, Matt just had a 2 hour nap, he’s full on energy! It was a little tricky maneuvering around the Boardwalk, as there was a street performer out with a crowd around him, and the line for the ESPN club went right out the door Once we got over the hill near the IG, it thinned out greatly! We passed the YC dock, and there were a bunch of people waiting for their IllumiNations cruises How lucky! We had a rough go trying to get up the hill near the Dolphin as well, but we managed it (barely )! Another bike was not as lucky, and they had to get off and walk it up We went around the loop twice. The kids had fun ringing the bell, which of course, got old after a while We had time for another loop, but I was done. No more bike pedaling for me The CM was great enough to take our picture at the end
After we were done with that, we headed down the Boardwalk toward the IG. Matt stopped and got some water inside the Bakery (what yummy treats they had in there) and then Alexa spotted the face painting booth. That was it, she had to have her face painted! She chose the princess, and she was done in no time. I’m always amazed at how quickly they do this, and how they can remember how to do all those faces I think it was only $8 (seemed cheaper than inside the parks )!
We then decided to just go into Epcot and watch IllumiNations, it was almost time for that anyway. We stopped, and got another Kaki Gori (is anyone keeping track of these too )! I should own that stand, I’ve bought so many this trip! We picked a spot between Japan and America, next to the American Gardens theater. It wasn’t the best spot, but what can you do. We had wanted to watch IllumiNations on this trip from Norway, but just never got over there! Since the kids didn’t have any dinner tonight, Matt got into line for the funnel cakes. And it was a long line. He barely made it back before the show started! And luckily he had cash on him, because that stand does not take room charges
As usual, it was another great show We waited for the crowds to thin out, and then made our way back toward the IG. It was almost 9:30, and they were still letting people into Epcot thru the IG. Not sure if it was just people looking to get their cars at the other end or what, but at least that’s good to know that you can get back in if you have to. Not sure what time they close that entrance off.
We got back up to the room, and Matt headed down to the store to fill the mugs. He then took the kids to the arcade, since everyone was still awake. Not sure what I did Probably enjoyed some peace and quiet
Memories of our Seventh Day
The weather today was…….warm and sunny, low 80s
The best thing today was…..watching Off Kilter perform
The worst thing today was……pumping that surrey bike up the hills
The funniest thing today was……riding the surrey bikes
Today we tried …….Le Cellier for lunch
and the result was…….great food
The most magical moment today was……watching Off Kilter
Coming Up Next…………….An Early Start, but a Passporter Ending

Another great update, Marnie! The picture of Alexa watching Off Kilter is just precious. She is such a beauty! I'm so sad that your trip report is coming to a close. How will we ever live without another one of your reports for over a year? Thanks again for your great report and your beautiful pictures!

I'm glad you got to see Off Kilter - I love that shot of Alexa watching the show!
Congratulations on getting the surrey bike - I've heard that they're tiring and have never plucked up courage to rent one for exactly that reason!

Wonderful pictures, Marnie. Alexa sure is growing up and is a beauty!! I'm glad that you were able to catch Off Kilter. My family enjoyed them on our last trip, too. I'm going to start getting my legs ready now for those surrey bikes-thanks for the warning.
I'm looking forward to your next post!

Re: Colexi\'s Spring Break Adventure - Thread 3 of 3 - Updated 6/3
Hi, Marnie!
I am catching up. I just wanted to say that I was very impressed with the Beach Club (my first time) and we had no problems whatever with Mousekeeping or anything else and this was just before your arrival. so I do not think it is a generic "they've dropped their standards" kind of problem.
Thanks for all the pictures. Yours of Victoria Gardens in Canada were taken the same day we took the Gardens Tour. It's really a wonder we didn't manage to trip over one another, and I really did keep an eye out for you!
Oh, and the Chocolate Mouse at Le Cellier is MY dessert! I do not care that it is labeled as a "children's dessert". It's too much fun to leave it only to the kids.
Thanks for the hard work--looking forward to more TR!
