As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: First Dose of WDW magic...Day 4 (updated 5/10)
Day 4 –if I can remember it all…(Sunday)
Epcot
Ahhh, a sit down meal at Kona Cafe with NO waiting! Ahhh, Tonga Toast! We had a great breakfast. I shared my Tonga Toast with Kirstin & Amanda and I still couldn’t finish it! After breakfast we walked over to the TTC which only took about 10 min max and caught the monorail to Epcot. We must have gotten there right at 8am because we saw the lines and the bus with the characters welcoming everyone to the park. No worries, we found the Kodak place and I had my digital pictures downloaded to a CD for about $12. I bought a 128MB card for my camera and that holds 400+ pictures!! (My camera is only a 1.3 mp)
We were at Epcot while the international Flower & Garden festival was going on and the landscaping was exquisite! I think I was the only one who enjoyed the topiaries and I was snapping pictures of them wildly!
First we explored the bottom part of Epcot (Future World) –going to The Living Seas
(missed Crush ), The Land where we saw ‘Circle of Life’, and Innoventions West. We really took our time looking through everything since it wasn't that crowded.
We walked up to HISTA and didn't have any wait...so, we're all waiting for it to begin and Brianna had to go potty so I ended up wisking her out of there just in the nick of time. While Dad, Kirstin & Amanda watched the show, Brianna & I sat around the place where Figment comes (Figment had just left when we were in line for ‘HISTA’ so we were just playing in the water). It was so funny because after we watched the WDW planning DVD we dubbed Chris the official bench tester/finder and Brianna was SO pleased with herself that she found a bench for Dad
and showed him when they got out of the show. We wandered through the roses which smelled SO beautiful and found the boat launch up to Germany for our lunch at Biergarten.
We weren’t too impressed with the lunch and won’t eat there again (I wrote a review in the Dining topic). It was good but not THAT good. Next time we’ll probably try Mexico or China. We discovered what the Kidcot stations were and Amanda was the only one who wanted to try it. Brianna was too shy or too scared of the people in Italy to start her project. We started in Italy where Amanda got her mask started…the only worlds she missed were UK & Canada. From Germany we went to Italy, USA, Japan,
Morocco
(Brianna wasn't too sure with Aladdin -if you can see in the pic she gave him quite a look)
and France. Instead of going on to UK we backtracked and went to the Outpost, China, Norway and Mexico. As we were making our way back through France we caught the waiter’s performance. We were right in the front and Chris thought they were going to pick him when the guy motioned that he needed someone with muscles…but we soon realized that it was all planned out
We wanted to sample a bite to eat in each world but instead I think we bought a souvenir in each world!
We sat down for a Mickey Bar in Japan and watched them perform on the drums.
We had a lot of fun just looking through each world and I didn’t think it was too crowded. We didn’t stop at any of the attrations in the worlds –that’s for another trip.
After the World Showcase we went to see about doing Test Track and Mission SPACE. Kirstin & Amanda got on Mission SPACE in about 10 minutes but the wait for Test track was 180 min and 50min in the single rider lane…There were NO more FastPasses being distributed and that was at 3pm…bummer. Well after that we went decided to go back and take a swim and get some lunch at the resort. We missed the monorail so we were 1st in line for the next one. As we were walking to the front of the monorail to get some good seats I remembered that they will let the kids in the front SO I quickly asked if they could ride up front…YES! The driver/co-pilot said only 4 so I had Dad go with the 3 girls so they could have some fun time together…or did I just need a brief moment of quiet?! Ha ha. Well that was exciting and they got their co-pilot’s license to boot. Well I don’t know how they have the energy but Chris, Amanda, and Brianna wanted to race us from the TTC to the Arcade (at the Poly)….are they NUTS?! I don’t run unless I am in a life or death situation!...or they are giving away free Mickey Bars
We swam again and had lunch.
It is getting harder and harder to get Amanda & Brianna out of the pool!!
I know we missed a lot in Future World probably because we were kind of lost when we went into Innoventions West. I wanted to go in Spaceship Earth and the Wonders of Life but again we were tired, grumpy, and needed rest. We had talked about hitting MGM for the EMH so Kirstin could ride Tower of Terror and Rockin’ Rollercoaster but that didn’t happen. At least we are getting tips for next time and we may have certain vacation days that don’t include going to a park to give us a break and more ‘down’ time!
Don’t get me wrong…we are still having a GREAT time and hey, we have two days left including a return to the Magic Kingdom tomorrow (Day 5)

Re: First Dose of WDW magic...Day 5 (updated 5/15)
Day 5 (Monday)
The quest to do the Mountain trifecta…
Back to Magic Kingdom
I was the one who woke up first so I went to get lattes, muffins, fruit, and juice for breakfast in the room. We slept in today and hit Magic Kingdom a little after 10am. We rented a stroller for Brianna since she had been so tired after our day at Epcot without a stroller. We had already seen practically everything in Adventureland so we went up to Frontierland. Kirstin, Amanda, and I rode on Splash Mountain. The wait was only about 10 min. I was surprised how long the ride was! It was so great because the girls are VERY familiar with Uncle Remus’ stories of the Briar Patch because I have kept that book from when I was little! One Mountain down!!!
Next we check to see if Brianna is tall enough for Big Thunder Mt. Yep, she is…so off we go, only a 10 min wait and we’re off. Brianna rode with me and she was yelling “Woo Hoo!” throughout the whole ride, she really had a blast. Kirstin & Amanda rode together. Wow, we all liked that ride! (Dad doesn’t do rides) Two Mountains conquered!
We walked out and by Liberty Square (?) saw Woody & Jessie so we got a picture and autograph
We walked up by Fantasyland and Kirstin & I went on Haunted Mansion. It was fun but Amanda didn’t want to go on it with us because she was afraid that it would be too scary (maybe next time!)
We walked up to Mickey’s Toontown Fair and it was really crowded! We parked the stroller outside Minnie’s House and went through her house and then into the Judges Tent. We just thought it was a big store and we were going to leave but then Dad saw the lines for the Character Meet-n-Greets! We already had seen Mickey and his pals at Animal Kingdom so we went in Pooh’s line We had to wait for about 20 min but it really was worth it to see Pooh, Eeyore, & Tigger…
Of course when we get out we have to buy something so we go back into the judges tent and get something for each little (or not so little) princess.
We are getting hungry so we make our way back to the stroller and the wave of people to find a place to eat. On past the Teacups to Tomorrowland and we end up eating at Cosmic Ray’s ($36). Wow, that was SO crowded in there…well we were able to get an outside table in the shade.
I think it was about 2pm or so by then and we went to check out Space Mountain…Grrr, an hour wait in line and the FastPass return time was 5:30pm. Well we aren’t going to get in Mountain #3 on this vacation and I’m sure that is the best of the three
We walked back by Cinderella’s castle and check out the gold characters on the turrets then into a shop inside the castle to look around.
We were trying to savor our ‘last’ walk down Main Street and we went into a lot of the stores and did some window shopping.
We stopped at the Kodak place right off the entrance to see if they could transfer Chris’ memory stick to a CD but his camera’s memory stick (Duo) was to advanced and they couldn’t do it. We explored around there and sat down in the little theater to watch some cartoons and they had picture taking places where we had a lot of laughs…and no one was in there!!
We were on our way out and got to meet Pluto!
and then the girls said “Good-bye” to their pal Goofy…
We took the boat back to the Polynesian, it was probably close to 5pm since we were getting hungry and needed our swimming fix!
We went swimming and then ordered room service for dinner which we were surprised that it was only $60. The food we got was MUCH more filling than eating at Captain Cook’s! Geez, we should have been doing this EVERY night!
We started packing up our suitcases trying to squeeze EVERY thing back in, then we went to watch Wishes for one last time from the beach
Our magical vacation is coming to a close…but tomorrow we’re having breakfast with Mickey & friends at O’hana!!
Good-night!
