Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Day 1 cont. - Chef Mickey’s and Magic Kingdom

Now it was time to get ready for Chef Mickey’s. This has become our official 1st day at Disney thing to do. Our PS time is for 5pm and we leave around 4:15pm. We get to the CR and valet parked the van.

Before checking into the podium for dinner we browsed the shops. Ashley made her first purchase for the trip with the Disney dollars she earned throughout the year. She found an earring holder with Cinderella earrings. The only thing we bought was locking backs for the pins.

At 4:50pm we went and checked in for our PS and had our family photo taken. We ended up having to wait about 10 minutes before we were taken to our table. We were visited by Chip, Mickey, Goofy, Minnie and Dale. Goofy was being very silly with Ryne and lost his hat. So he had to head back to the kitchen to put it back on. Mickey got a kick out of Larry’s and the boys shirts and my dress. We all matched and had Mickey on us. During dinner we purchased our family photo. We were done eating at 6pm and settled our bill. We saved $20.39 with our DDE card.

After dinner we went to catch the monorail to the MK. Everyone was excited to see the castle. Once at the park we made it through security quickly, but had to wait to get through the turnstiles. People were having lots of problems with the biometrics scan. I was surprised that we didn’t have any problems since we haven’t used our AP’s for almost 11months. Finally through the turnstiles we decided the boys didn’t need a stroller since we wouldn’t be staying that long.

We walked down mainstreet and Larry started to camcorder right away. I was taking photos of the castle.

Larry and Tyler walking down mainstreet

When we got up towards the castle we saw that the new Cinderellabration was going on. We decided not to stop and watch it because we planned on seeing the whole thing later in the week. I did snap a few photos though.

We headed back towards Fantasyland and our first ride was Small World. We waited maybe 5 minutes to get on. It looks so good and we love the new entrance to the ride.

After Small World it was time to see Mickey’s PhilharMagic. After PhilharMagic it was time for a Spin on The Mad Tea Party. I decided to ride even though I usually get motion sick on this ride. Larry rode with the girls and Tyler. I rode with Ryne in our own tea cup. Ryne and I didn’t spin ours and I kept my eyes on him, so I didn’t feel too bad coming off of it.

Larry said that they had their tea cup going so fast that they felt like it was tipping.

After the Mad Tea Party we grabbed FP for Winnie the Pooh for a return time of 8:15-9:15. We then headed over to Mickey’s Toontown fair. First up was Mickey’s house and then Minnie’s house.

We walked through a gift shop then it was time for the return time on the FP for Winnie the Pooh.

We had a nice ride in our hunny pot and then decided it was time to go battle Zurg on Buzz Lightyear. I don’t remember what we scored, but I know that Larry beat us all like always.

After Buzz it was time to leave the park. We had a very long first day and everyone was tired. We wanted to get out of MK before Spectro started at 9pm. We got out of the park and headed to the monorail knowing that we would be at MK again in the morning for our date in the Castle.

Made it back to the CR and collected our van from Valet and headed back to the CBR. Once there we swung by OPR and I ran in and got us 2 refills of Diet Coke. Back in the room it was time for a snack for the kids and then bed time. The kids were tucked in by 10pm. I don’t remember what time I went to bed but it wasn’t too long after the kids. I set the wake up call for 6:30am. It was going to come awfully quick.

Next up: Day 2 - Return to MK and breakfast with Cinderella

Re: Our Magical 10 nights / 11 days at the House of the Mouse! - New 5/19/05

April 22nd – MK and Breakfast with Cinderella

6:30am rolled around really quick and we were woken up by Mickey and Stitch. I got up and ready. It was then time for Larry to get up, but he wasn’t feeling well. I took his temperature and it was 101.4. Not a good way to start the day. I gave him some medicine and then he got ready to go. I then woke up the kids to get them ready. It was early entry day for MK and it was opening at 8am. I packed my back pack and made sure I had Laura’s shirt. She wanted it signed by the princesses.

We arrived at MK at 8am and were greeted by long lines to get in again. We decided against getting a stroller for the boys again.

Once again we headed off to Fantasyland. First up was Snow White’s Scary Adventure. Then it was on to Cinderella’s Golden Carrousel. My number 1 goal was to score Cinderella’s horse for Ashley. Ashley loves Cinderella and I wanted my girl to ride her horse. As we are watching the Carrousel going around I spot the horse. Once we were let on I grabbed it for Ashley. Yeah!!!

She was very happy to ride Cinderella’s horse. Once done with the Carrousel we got FP’s for Peter Pan’s Flight. After getting our FP we went to Mickey’s PhilHarmagic again.

Once the show was over it was time to check in for our PS for CRT. Our PS time was 9:10am. We waited for a while and the kids didn’t want to get the Fairy Godmothers autograph. Finally we were called and we headed upstairs for breakfast.

We sat down for breakfast and the CM Tina came and took our drink orders. The girls wanted water and I ordered a Diet Coke.

The Princesses started to come around we saw Cinderella, Aurora, Belle, Mary Poppins and Snow White. All the princesses signed Laura’s shirt and it turned out really cute and you can tell they have done this before.

We ate our breakfast once they were done making their rounds and we really enjoyed it. I didn’t really care for CRT the first time we did it, but this time I thought it was better. We saved $18.39 using our DDE card.

After breakfast it was time for Peter Pan, so off to neverland we go. Laura has not liked this ride but we have said you have to try it once then if you don’t like it you don’t have to go on it again. She rode with me on it and I forgot which boy went with me. Laura declared once the ride was over that she liked it now.

After our Flight it was time now for us to go find a seat for the 10:40 showing of the new castle show, Cinderellabration. We were very close to the stage and were able to sit for the show. It was a very beautiful show and I really enjoyed it. It brought tears to my eyes. I’m really not sure why. It might be because when I was a little girl I would pretend to be Cinderella. It also could be because it was my parents wedding anniversary and they would have been married for 38 years. Most of you know that my mom passed away 9 days before we were left for our trip.

After the show we grabbed FP’s for Splash Mountain. It was very hard to navigate through the crowds over there. Once we had the FP’s in hand we headed over to see Country Bears and then The Magic Carpets of Aladdin.

Once we were done with the carpets it was time for us to go on Splash. This is the first time that all 6 of us were able to do a big ride together. For months we have been telling the boys they were going to ride it one time. They didn't really protest too much, but Ryne was very leary. Once we got in the FP line we renamed it the slow pass line. We finally made it to the front and we were off. Laura and Ashley were in row #1, Tyler and Larry row #2 and Ryne and myself row #3. Ryne kept on asking me if it was the big hill yet. After we made it down the big hill he finally relaxed and enjoyed the last part of the ride. Ryne declared he didn’t like the ride, even though a little bit later he said he wanted to ride it again. Tyler and Laura declared they loved it and Ashley rode it last year and already loved the ride. Ashley is my thrill seeker. Last year she rode all the big rides, Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n Roller Coaster.

We bought our photo and had it sent back to the room. We actually got a really good one later in the week. We also bought 3 Splash Mountain pins for a grand total of $24.34. The kids earn pins for going on the big rides they are not sure of.

It was 1:10pm and we decided it was time to go back to CBR for a break and swimming. I think the kids looked forward to the pool more then the parks.

Next: Afternoon break, swimming and an IllumiNations meet

Re: Our Magical 10 nights / 11 days at the House of the Mouse! - New 5/20/05

Pt. 2 April 22nd - Afternoon break, swimming and an IllumiNations meet

We finally made it back to CBR at 2:15pm and stopped at the OPR for refills. When we walked in to the room we were immediately greeted by 3 towels animals in each room. The kids love these and they found their way home with us.

After taking pics of the animals it was time for me to get the kids a snack and they are banished to their room. It is time for some peace and quiet for mom and dad for about 15 minutes. I love having 2 rooms just for that reason.

Larry ended up taking a nap which the poor guy really needed. He was still running a fever. I got the kids ready and we headed off to the pool. Once we got to the pool I realized I forgot my sunglasses in the room. I sat the kids down on a lounge chair and told them to stay there and I ran and got them. I am really blessed and have well behaved kids. They were still sitting on the chair when I got back.

We swam for a while and relaxed by the pool. It was a nice break for all of us. I let the kids swim for about 2 hours then we headed up back to the room. Once we got back Larry was up and feeling a lot better, his fever finally broke. He struggled with a sore throat for a few days afterwards but the worse was over for him.

It was time to get ready for dinner. The girls and I took showers and the boys got dressed. When everyone was ready we grabbed our mugs and headed to the parking lot. We knew after dinner we would be going to Epcot for the IllumiNations meet so we took the car to OPR.

Once there we figured out what everyone was going to eat. We ended up ordering 1 chickens strip basket, 2 Chicken Nuggets no buckets, 2 Chicken Nuggets with Bucket, Pork Loin Dinner and a Tossed Salad for a total of $38.48.

After dinner we went out by the main pool and let the girls get their hair wrapped. We had to wait about 20 minutes before it was their turn. While waiting we shopped at Calypso Trading Post. We bought batteries, Nyquil, a 4pk flashlight set for the kids and a magnet. Mini shopping spree cost $29.84.

It was now time for the girls turn at the hair wrap station. It took a little over and hour to do both of the girls hair. We left $78 poorer, but the girls were happy. They still have their wraps so in the end it isn’t that bad a deal.

It was now 7:45pm and time to head over to Epcot for our IllumiNations PP meet with Colexis Mom and BritDisFan. Larry and I are very shy people so it was a big step for us to do an actual meet.

As we are walking through Future World Laura decided she wanted to buy one of those flashlight sword things. So of course since she wanted one the other 3 did too, at least it was their own money. After they all made their purchases we continued our walk to the WS. We actually ended up walking past the place we were supposed to meet. So we had to turn around and make it back to Canada. I was so happy when Marnie walked up to us and introduced herself. Introductions were made all around and we all talked for a while. Laura was her usual talkative self and the boys were so full of energy. Allan offered the kids some English candy, which they loved. Thanks Allan! While waiting for the start of IllumiNations everyone chatted. Allan showed us some video of Lucky at AK. Sad to say that we never actually got to see Lucky, so it was nice to see the video. IllumiNations started and I watched Alexis interacting with Ryne. Ryne was covering his ears at the beginning and she told him after the opening that it was okay to uncover his ears now. I just thought that was the cutest thing. After IllumiNations was over we stayed around and talked some more. My kids are like the energizer bunnies they keep going and going and going. The boys started sword fighting with their light up swords and Allan decided to pose them for a picture. They looked like they were fighting with light sabers. After about 15 minutes we decided we should be heading back since it was another long day for us. I am so glad that we took the step and went to the meet.

Marnie, Myself and Karen

On the way out we took a picture of the Stitch topiary.

Once back at the CBR it was a stop at the OPR for refills of diet coke for Larry and myself and our first Mickey bars of the trip.

Once back in the room we got the kids ready for bed and they had a small snack. Once they were tucked in Larry and I enjoyed our Mickey Bars. We then tried to connect to the internet for the first time. We were quickly on and I checked my mail and stopped by the boards even though I didn’t post that night.

I was in bed by midnight with a wake up call set up for 6:45am

The weather today was: Sunny and low 80’s.

The worst thing today was Larry waking up with a 101.4 fever

Today we tried Splash Mountain as a family and the result was Ryne not liking it but Ashley, Laura and Tyler loving it

Next: April 23rd - MK again and the Family Magic Tour
