Forums Closed

As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

...the most annoying bird calls known to man, a screeching eagle/hawk and a crow like sound that goes CAAAACAAACAAACAAACAAACAAA. He does them constantly ,at top volume but I can’t believe he still there, or maybe it’s his offspring. Next time you go listen, you’ll hear it!
[/ QUOTE ]
Are you sure this isn't the recording of the "distress" call they use to keep birds away from Epcot?
[/ QUOTE ]
I didn't know they had that! It makes sense now that I think about it! Really how could the same bird be there year after year!

Re: One Dental Diva takes on the World
Jenny, I don't understand those 'random bus' people either! We run into them at least once a trip. I think there are still tons of people out there who think that Disney World is like Great Adventure.
Great update! I love those glow cubes too and have quite a collection of them!

Re: One Dental Diva takes on the World
Animal Kingdom and Pleasure Island
We watched all the people that asked us what Pop Century was get off the bus and look around and say this is it? HUH, why would I lie? We picked up our packages at the store then went back to our room for a little rest. Actually we didn’t really rest just freshened up a bit, it’s amazing how much that can re-energize you.
Back to the bus stop and on to the AK bus. Not that many people getting on as it’s only a couple more hours til the park closes. We get to the park and head right over to Dinoland and on to Primeval Whirl. Jim and I get our own car and each take a side. I soon find out without another body next to yours you slide back and forth which add to the scariness. I didn’t like that too much! We also went on Dinosaur and acted terrified when our picture was taken but didn’t buy it.
We walked around and decided that we really didn’t feel like doing anything else but the jungle trek. Those dumb tigers were still sleeping!! I swear to god I am going to bring in some fireworks to wake them up! Maybe then I will see them swim or play with their ball.
I guess at this point we took the bus to AKL and looked around. We stayed here in September 2001 for my 30th birthday, unfortunately it was only 9 days after 9/11 when we came down and was extremely quiet. The smell of the BBQ was driving me nuts, I was only 9 weeks pregnant when we came in 2001 and was just starting 4 months of constant sickness so I must associate the smell with throwing up all the time.
We caught the DTD bus at AKL and went to have dinner at the Earl of Sandwich. I held a table while Jim ordered for us. He grabbed a soda and a beer from the cooler from the side then got in line. Almost to the register to order an employee came up to Jim and basically yelled at him for taking soda and beer from that side of the restaurant. What is that about? I looked at the cooler again after Jim sat down and am 99.9% sure that it is part of the store so why can’t you bring up the drink that you are paying for when you order? I couldn’t finish my sandwich but Jim was able to chow down his and the rest of mine.
In the Adventures Club Main Salon
Jim in the same place, just the other side
We shopped around for a while in all the stores but didn’t buy anything. We headed over to PI just in time for the joint to open. We went over to AC and took some pictures but they didn’t come out even with the flash. We saw a big commotion going on as the actors that were playing the parts of Hathaway Browne, Sugar Snap the Maid, Pamiela Perkins and Samantha Sterling came out. All the “regulars” were talking to them in tight circles and looking very upset. Come to find out all those actors were just let go and being moved to other parts in WDW. What an uproar that has caused on a AC board that I belong to. People were emailing the president of WDW, the president of PI and the list goes on about how unfair it was for their actors to be fired. The letter writing campaign didn’t work. Ok I like AC and CW but if an actor was let go or left I would be bummed but jeez lighten up people. I guess when you are an actor that works for WDW you dream of getting into the AC or CW casts as they are at the top of the food chain and anything else is considered a step down.
We got in line for CW and this time didn’t get any drinks. We were really far back and got seated way towards the back. Right below us was a guy that thought he was so funny he keep asking his friends “are we going to heckle them”. Oh god I wanted to scream! How old are you? His friends wisely ignored him and luckily for us he didn’t heckle them. What a jerk to even think that. He did get on stage though, they asked for someone who was an expert on something and he said he was an expert on hockey. He was trying to give funny answers but the actors just cut him to shreds! I love it! The audience was laughing at him not with him and he walked back to his seat a little smaller..hehehehehe.
We got back in line for the next show and this time seated a little closer to the stage, but behind us was a very drunk and very loud guy. He kept thinking he was funny and laughing so hard at his own jokes (which they weren’t) . Security came by at stood near him while one of the bouncer type guys came over and talked to him. He calmed down a bit until the show started and they called someone on one of the phones. They asked for the women’s name and before she could say anything the moron screamed “ugly”. Everyone in my section turned around to stare at him and he looked down the floor and kept quiet the rest of the night. Besides the jerk the show was great. I didn’t offer up an embarrassing stories this time, could it be that I because I didn’t have any drinks I didn’t have the courage? Maybe I was tired . We stayed for the next 2 shows before calling it a night. Oh am I going to miss this place!!
The bus ride home was quick and the worst part was when they turn on the lights! Wowee does that kill your eyes. I climbed up the 4 flights of stairs with a heavy heart, it was my last night in WDW. Tomorrow I would be going back to Mommyhood and have to leave my singleton side in Florida.

Re: One Dental Diva takes on the World
Monday January 17,2005
Going home
The day I always dread on any vacation, going home day. We got up pretty early today, they town car would be coming at 10 to pick us up. We showered and changed and went down to have one last breakfast at Everything Pop. We sat in our usual place and had a peaceful breakfast. I called Jameson and he seemed to understand that mommy and daddy were coming home today. When we got back to our room we finished up packing and hung around for awhile. Jim is always a stickler about making sure nothing is left in the room, so he looks in every draw 2 million times, under the bed etc. Only once did I almost leave something behind ( a wet bathing suit on the back of the door) so since then he feels like he has to check up on me GRRRRRRR
We had the same town car driver as last time which was great. He talked the whole way back to the airport. Check in was a breeze at the Southwest counter and we had no fog to contend with this time, although I was secretly hoping for a snow storm in the northeast to strand us here!
On the plane ride home I watched my DVD’s again while Jim listened to his Ipod. I fell asleep for most of the flight, which is only a handful of times I have done so. Jim always manages to sleep. We landed on time and I got the luggage while Jim went to get the car. It had a couple of inches of snow on it so it took him a little longer to get the car. I called Pam to let her know I would be to her house in 1 ½ hours. Jim picked me up curbside and 15 minutes later we were home. The cats missed us and our fish tank was half full due to evaporation but Keebo seemed to fair well with his vacation feeder.
I literally dropped the bags at the door and took off to Pam’s. Jim had to go into the office and finish up some lab cases so I went alone to get Jameson.
As I got closer to Pam’s house I couldn’t wait to see Jameson and pictured him running into my arms yelling “Mama your home”. I ran up Pam’s steps to the front door flung it open to find Jameson running towards…..his cousin Terrence. I said Jameson I’m home! He looked at me and said hi and started playing.
We chatted for awhile and I gave Pam and DS Siobhan the gifts I bought them (my nephews didn’t want anything). I told Jameson it was time to go and he didn’t want to leave! He was king of the household over there and didn’t want to go. But when I said daddy was waiting he quickly changed his mind and ran to get his coat on.
Back home Jim and Jameson had a great reunion and we opened all the presents we brought back to him. His favorite was his new Captain Hook hat and sword. 30 minutes later it business as usual, laundry, cleaning up spills, tripping over toys….oh well I wouldn’t trade it for a thing, ’cept maybe for another WDW trip
