Me, Muffin and the Oasis of the Seas!! - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

It sounds like you know exactly what you want to see in the ports which is great because I do feel like some of the cruise excursions are expensive and there just isn't all that much to see on these islands. We've only done a few excursions on the three cruises we've taken and the one that impressed me was Labadee on our RCCL!
Is he/she nice?! Did you tell him/her how cool I am?!
She is nice, but I meant she was on that itinerary now. As in got off the boat today. If she was sailing with you I’d have hidden her boyfriend and gone along so I could cruise with the coolest you!!

It is great to have experience with excursions. We love Labadee!!

Today we are headed to the Eagles-Dallas game!! Normally, I would be uber excited about this but it is 11 degrees outside!! It also snowed yesterday so now it is brrrrrr cold and icy as well! We are layering up with long johns, multiple shirts, gloves and boots and I sure hope they have hot chocolate there!! We are picking my brother up at 11 and Sean is meeting us down at Lincoln Financial Field.
After the game, we are going to Dave and Adrienne's for our New Year's Eve celebration which consists of a nice dinner, bad karaoke, watching the Twilight Zone and the ball drop and then heading home. We love it!!!
On to the PTR:
We are flying into MCO on March 3rd. We love the security of “being there” if anything happens and the only time we have not done this is when we cruised out of Cape Liberty because it’s a two hour drive from our home. We have a late flight and won’t get into Orlando until around 7:30 PM. We will probably just grab some fast food at the airport and then check in for the night at the Hyatt.
On the morning of the 4th, we will most likely grab a quick breakfast at Starbucks and take our luggage down to the shuttle area for RCCL. We hope to be on one of the earlier shuttles. We will wear our swimsuits underneath our clothes and bring a carry-on bag with a change of clothes and other necessities with us to boa d he ship.
This is what our itinerary looks like:
Sunday - March 4th, 2018
Port Canaveral, United States
Depart: 4:30 pm
We will take the first shuttle we can from the Orlando airport to the Cruise Terminal at Port Canaveral. We hope to arrive by 11:00 AM to board the ship.
Grab a nice beverage.
Go to a restaurant podium and get our dining package squared away. ( You will notice that I put grab a nice beverage in front of this task!)
We will get something to eat either at the windjammer or park cafe.
Try to book a Rainforest pass. Similar to DCL, RCCL only gives 40 passes out for the cruise.
Go swimming if it’s warm enough.
We will explore and take lots of photos and check out the different venues aboard.
At 1 PM, our stateroom should be ready so we can get freshen up and ditch our carryons.
More exploring.
Check for luggage and hopefully unpack.
Colonel Mustard Drill.
Get changed for dinner at Chef’s Table.
Chef’s Table 6:00 - 9:30 PM. This our favorite night to do the Chef’s Table. We have made many long term friends by starting a cruise out this way and I hope this time is no exception!
Monday - March 5th, 2018
Day
2
At Sea
Get hair washed and styled
First specialty dinner - 5:30PM. We are hoping for Giovanni’s Table tonight.
CATS - 9:00 PM
Tuesday - March 6th, 2018
Day
3
Labadee, Haiti
Arrive: 8:00 am
Depart: 4:30 pm
Rent snorkel equipment
Attend BBQ lunch
SPECIALTY dinner - 5:30 PM ( Hopefully 150 Central Park)
Oasis of Dreams - 9:30 PM
Wednesday - March 7th, 2018
Day
4
Falmouth, Jamaica
Arrive: 10:00 am
Depart: 7:00 pm
This is everything that we booked. There will also be many activities that we love to do that you can’t prebook such as bingo, more wine tastings and watching the pool competitions!! As of this posting, still no stateroom assignment which means we will either get a really crappy room or a really great one!
We also have 600 bucks of onboard credit! We are going to just let this one play out. I did not purchase the drink package this time because Muffin doesn’t use it and we each get 3 free drinks a day because we are diamond members as well as free drinks in the Casino. You used to be able to just purchase the drink package for one person but I guess that policy got abused, which is a real shame for the rest of us. Anyway. The point is, we will reserve some of this credit for nice drinks!
Nothing left to do now but wait for our room assignment and countdown to March 3rd!!
What are you guys doing tonight/tomorrow?! Happy New Year to all!!!
Oh, I would love to see the Dallas/Eagles game, but not in that weather! I'm more of a "fair weather fan" I will be watching it from the comfort of my home. Jake Elliott, the kicker, is from my alma mater, so I love to keep up with his performance. The cruise sounds wonderful. I hope you get the dining venues you want and the rainforest pass.
I don't think you could get me to go to the game with this cold! Plans and itinerary look great for the cruise and so cool with the $600 credit! You're like me with New Years Eve as I always watch The Twilight Zone marathon on Sci-Fi Channel. Watching it right now! I actually have the complete series on dvd.
