Mema and Papa are doing WHAT? PTR - UPDATED 8/15 - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Yes! We have Minnie's Seasonal Dine on Monday evening at 5:15.
But our Garden Grill is dinner on Tuesday. We mostly do breakfast in our room/pick up something counter service unless it's last day...and even last day this trip!
Our Minnie's Seasonal Dine is at 6:25 that night. So we might see you.
I like dinner at Garden Grill - very yummy and love the characters! How fun for you all. This is our 1st time trying breakfast there. I can't wait!

Maybe we will pass you coming as we are going!
I'm curious to hear how you like breakfast...maybe one trip we will try it. I'm not a big breakfast eater, so I tend to like cereal or fruit.

I agree, he's a good guy! I told him what you said and he said of course he is! But then he allowed how DGD is super helpful and quite the rule follower. She also is great about keeping her brother in line! And he admits he would not consider doing it with DGS 2 or DGS3!! Of course, they are also younger!
Lots of fun meals for all of you to look forward to. You're grands will be loving you. I can imagine there surprise when Papa tells them hop in, we're going for a ride.
Thanks! a couple small ones left...and it's almost FP+ time...

I'm kind of bummed I'm going to miss the reveal...but I'm trusting Papa to take a video of it...

I began to think about clothes. How would I get clothes for the kids’ trip? They would, of course be bringing a suitcase with them as they are staying at Mema’s and Papa’s for the week, but I wanted to have their things packed before I left, thereby taking one more burden off of Papa’s plate. Plus it would be hard to keep a secret if their suitcase disappeared. What to do?
What any self-respecting Mema does…GO SHOPPING! Well, hit up the Disney Store first, they were having a sale on tees, buy one get one, and that worked for me. I had previously bought Papa and I red tees with the hidden Mickey on the front and the caption “Original Mouseketeer” Mine had the same caption, but I had a hidden Minnie. I found a set of them for the littles.
I had already gotten them the 2016 shirts so I added a Cars shirt, a Mickey line drawing, Yoda, and an Avengers shirts, and that finished off DGS.
For DGD, I purchased a pink Never Underestimate a Princess shirt, an Anna and Elsa shirt, a Rapunzel shirt and a Descendants shirt.
A pair of pajamas into the cart for each of them and we are good to go.
Here is a photo of our Call Papa/Mema shirts...it's the front of Papa's and the back of mine.
I also got us these shirts because of course we ARE killing it!
(In case you can't read it all it says "I never dreamed I would be a Super Cool Mema, but here I am Killing it!")
Heading over to Kohl’s I found four pairs of shorts for them both. DGS is 2 ½ years younger than DGD, but almost the same size and he’s a tad heavier. DGD is a little sprite for sure, always the line leader because she’s the shortest in her class. Their parents are charged with providing me 5 pairs of underwear and 5 pairs of socks before said trip. Now, the clothes are done.
We have our power of attorney on the kids, and it is with the magic bands and other important items for Papa to take. I’m making him a folder of all the stuff I usually handle. I’m always in charge of all the tickets, papers, phone numbers, reservation numbers, etc whenever we travel. Now he’s going to have to do it on his own with two littles. I have faith…sorta…maybe a little afraid…
Earlier in the year, DVC announced several Member Exclusive events for the 25th Anniversary of DVC. They were spread out over the year and the event that coincided with this trip was the Safari Spectacular at the Animal Kingdom from 9:30 PM until midnight. I thought how cool would that be? The date during our trip was Tuesday the 27th. I asked Papa what he thought, and he was lukewarm to the idea, mostly because of the time. He thought it would be too much on the littles. I said ok, and that was it.
Just before the booking day rolls around and we received an email regarding the event, but I ignored it, we weren’t going. We weren’t, right?
On the drive home from work on booking day, Papa asked, “did we get into the member event?”
I quickly jumped onto the phone, all the while shooting eyeball daggers at Papa, and luckily booked the no-cost event. Contrite, Papa fixed me a FAB and all was better in my world!
So, now I had some juggling to do in regards to parks and activities and…..

Have been reading along and decided join in. Plans look great, and love the idea of springing the trip on them as a surprise.
Did you remember the bathing suits for the kids?
