As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I slept pretty well, considering it was the first night and all. We didn't get going until around 10:00. I sent my daughter downstairs to grab us some coffee at their "coffee bar" and we had bagels in our room. The coffee was awful! . This was not acceptable to me. So in the car we went and we ventured downtown.
There were many people about, considering it was raining. I knew of a great coffee place I found last year. Coffee Hound Coffee Bar is this little hole in the wall right across from the green space/park. The people in there are so friendly (right up my alley). I had the BEST iced coffee. My daughter and I split a homemade blueberry turnover. It was so ridiculously delicious that we had to get another one! The owner is so nice. I had to tell him how he "saved" me today with his coffee. He gave me a hug.....
We then walked up the street and went in and out of shops, all the while dodging rain drops. We found ourselves in front of a psychic reader store front. So we said what he heck and went inside. $75 later, I was told some things I probably didn't want to hear and I told myself I have to put it all in perspective...it was entertaining.
After that we went to Adelman's Deli and ordered one sandwich to take back to our room for lunch. We split a roasted turkey, havarti dill cheese sandwich on homemade multigrain bread with mayo, sliced cucumber and banana peppers. It was sooo good!
Back at the room I watched the weather forecast and cringed, as tomorrow was going to be worse than today. We haven't even made it into Acadia National Park Yet and at this rate, I don't know if we will. I'm starting to think of seeing if we can stay one more night in order to take advantage of better weather at weeks end.
Tonight, we went to see a movie at "Reel Pizza". It's a place where you watch a movie and there is a counter bar in front of all the seats to act as a table of sorts. You order pizza and drinks and watch the movie. It was really cool. The pizza was great as well. The movie turned out much better than I thought it would..."Dawn of the Planet of the Apes".
I'll let you all know what tomorrow brings.....stay tuned
Diane

Glad you are having a good time in spite of the weather. You are making me want to go to Bar Harbor so bad-just need to find a time. I think it just knocked Quebec City off my quick and easy vacation list.

I wouldn't hesitate to make this your next destination!
It's Wednesday morning and the loud thunder woke me up at 6:30am. It was LOUD. I stayed in bed and watched the clock but to be honest, the bed and pillows are so comfortable that I didn't mind.
After a shower and dress, I got my daughter up. She could sleep through anything.
I decided we would have breakfast in the hotel's restaurant this morning. Let me just say it was not good. It was a buffet with a cost of $16pp! . Although my daughter went for the make your own omelet and she said it was good. Everything I had as not so great. We decided to drive back downtown and I scored a parking spot. We headed for my now daily iced coffee run. Coffee Hound here I come. The owner is so awesome here - just so personable. DD had some mocha iced drink, while I had straight forward iced coffee. We got another blueberry hand pie to go and off we went to return that ill fitting sweatshirt I bought on day one. I exchanged it easily enough for a different sweatshirt. Bright and I mean bright yellow zip up hoodie. It would look great with a tan.
Then we were off to get our park pass into Acadia. I figured we would get this out of the way in the rain in order to save time tomorrow morning. Supposedly, the rain is supposed to stop early tomorrow. Fingers crossed. Parking pass in hand we drove 1/2 of the park loop road - but boy was it foggy. . I actually drove to the top of Cadillac Mtn. which was a huge mistake. The fog was out of control. So we exited the park and went back to the hotel. I inquired about the cost to stay an extra night (Friday) and decided I would just go for it. That way we would have at least one more full sunny day on Friday to lounge by the pool.
We were hungry at this point, so we decided to try Paddy's on the corner of Mt. Desert Street. This place was AWESOME! On the recommendation of our super nice server, Stephanie, I ordered the first of a couple of drinks called Indian Summer. It has muddled pink grapefruit in it. I loved it. We also got a cheese board to split with our drinks. The offerings were so interesting and good. DD got a crock of onion soup and I had seafood chowder. We decided to split a salad with steak and gorgonzola. However, we never touched the steak salad as we were full. So we took it to go to have in the room later for dinner.
Back at the hotel, we relaxed and watched some TV. By 6:00 I was trying to figure out what to do in the rain. I looked out the window and saw tons of people out by the pool and tiki bar, so we headed down. We got something to drink and chatted with others while listening to music. Now we are back in the room and watching some more TV before we retire.
Tomorrow, we tackle Acadia and Jordan Pond.......night everyone!
Great TR so far! Sorry you've had rain, but glad the weather is looking up for tomorrow. I've been to Bar Harbor once before, and hope to return in the next year or two. One question... do you just have one DD with you instead of the two you originally planned if I remember correctly?
Glad you were able to add the extra night so you'll still have a chance to do everything. Hope the weather is great tomorrow. It's supposed to be clear here tomorrow after a day of torrential rain today.
