As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I'm glad you are doing well and have a great outlook!
My best friend was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year. As she was over 40 and had never had a mammogram, I pushed her to go get one. She finally relented and went in. When she was called back a week later for further testing I told her not to worry as I get called back every time. It took quite a while before she would even talk to me as she was blaming me. I also felt a lot of guilt because I feel like I lied to her.
She finally had her mastectomy this past week for an aggressive tumor. It took two months after her diagnosis because, as a teacher, she kept getting colds and they couldn't do the surgery if she was sick. Her pathology came back and she is in stage 2b so she will have chemo then radiation. Her mental outlook is very positive now and so is her medical outlook.
My mom made my friend a quilt and I wrote on a saying on it that I write on my hand before every race I do: You can and You will!
Continued for you as you stomp out the cancer. You can and you will!

I am doing well - had my first chemo treatment on Thursday, so now Day 3 and haven't felt too bad. I'm not running any marathons - but I don't recall doing that before

Sharon- you are right a club no one wants to join. So happy you caught it early and already on the road to recovery. Not a breast cancer survior but I'm a cancer survior none the less - going on 22 years. The human body is the most amazing thing in the world and you should be back to your Disney trips in no time.
Sharon - Glad they caught it early and you are doing well with your treatments. I have a mammogram every year and got called back for another view of the left side with an ultrasound which is happening tomorrow. Not the first time I was called back for additional screening since I have dense breast tissue but my mom had breast cancer so I'm always a bit nervous. Keep us updated as to your progress and know that you are in my thoughts. I hope every year that I don't join "the club".

Sharon, how are you doing??? Hope the chemo's not kicking your butt too bad.
Kris, my sister just went through this. Right after we got back from our cruise in September, she had a letter telling her to come back for a diagnostic mammo. did that, then stereotactic biopsy, then lumpectomy for what they thought was DCIS but a few cells had broken through. They went back in to take a little more and a few lymph nodes, which were clear. She was barely a stage 1 (1A). She just did the 33 radiation treatments, no chemo, and has to take Tamoxifen for 5 years. If yours is anything like her, you'll do great!
I went through the whole biopsy thing myself right after her first surgery in October. Mine turned out to be a sclerosing papilloma. Had a second biopsy (surgical, basically a mini lumpectomy) because that kind of papilloma can have both benign and malignant cells, so they remove the whole thing to examine it. I have my 6 month mammo in early June. I also have to do a breast MRI since both of my sisters have had b/c now. Definitely NOT looking forward to that.
Lisa - sounds like you are on top of things. I don't think we realize just how complex this whole bc issue is until we start to research it.
I am doing just fine. Surviving chem so far with minimal side effects. 2 treatments down, 2 to go. I finish at the end of June, and we go to Maine in early July. Will be flying back to Florida for F&W visit in October.
