Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Legoland looks great! I love how all the rides look like they are made out of Lego! My kids would have loved that place when they were younger.

I also love the fact that they have legos at each ride for the kids to play with. That probably helps prevent a lot of melt downs due to waiting in long lines. Although it sounds like long lines don't happen very often.

Legoland looks like a lot of fun. Nate has said he wants to go and I'm sure we'll end up there sometime. Cameron likes to play with his Duplos, but I'm waiting to take him to Legoland until he's a bit more interested in Legos. I'm sure that will be in no time if his father has anything to do about it.

Love your trip report so far, thanks so much for sharing it and including the pictures! We were at Legoland two years ago, my son who will be 12 soon, still wants to go back again, and your pictures help to bring back memories I would have otherwise forgotten! I should get our pictures out!

PS - Hope your day wasn't ruined!

Wow, I'm reading so early. The boys look like they are loving Legoland. I had to laugh at your comment to someone about how Mike used to drive straight thru from Austin. Pat and I did that all the time before Lily. The first trip to Austin when I was pregnant ended that. I don't mind the drive down to the world. I'm going to have to convince Lily of it though.

It really is a neat place - you'd love the Cypress Gardens area (which I'll get to eventually).

Dylan is pretty into them and later that night at DtD they got some legos.

Good Luck convincing Lily. It is nice to fly, but the drive wasn't as bad as I thought it might be...well at least the drive down wasn't.

Friday, October 11, 2013 cont.

After the Lost Kingdom Adventure we headed to Coastersaurus for Lukas’ 1st real roller coaster. He had to be 36” to ride this as well. Dylan took a little convincing but we said Lukas is doing it, you can to so he was willing to give it a shot. Mike rode with Lukas and they scored the front row! Dylan & I were right behind them in the 2nd row. I know Lukas put his hands up at some point but couldn’t see him well enough to know if kept them up the whole time. This was a really fun coaster, much longer than Barnstormer, and was made of wood. Lukas absolutely loved it! Dylan, not so much, but at least we didn’t have any tears.

After the Coastersaurus we had a restroom break and then went to the Safari Trek. The Safari Trek is a little ride through safari of legos. You ride in a little jeep and see animals made of legos. We couldn’t believe how real the giraffes looked! Looking at my pictures I realize we did the Lost Kingdom Adventure after the Safari Trek, but oh well, we did it. We cut through Miniland exploring as we went to get to the Lego Technic area. Don’t worry we’ll be back to finish the rest.

shipwreck under the water

In the Lego Technic area we just did the Technicycle which is like a dual bicycle that you peddle in order to make it rise like a plane and you move in a circle. On this ride Mike & I got our workout as Lukas couldn’t reach the pedals and Dylan was just lazy. Dylan was tall enough to do the other 2 rides here but didn’t want to try them.

It was nearing lunch time and we were trying to figure out where to eat. Earlier in the day we thought about the pizza place but it was a buffet and Lukas already said he wasn’t hungry so we didn’t want to pay for him to eat nothing. We headed towards the ski show, but the place near it was closed so we back tracked to Lego Technic and went to the Lakeside Sandwich Co where we got some sandwiches, chips, fruit and drinks to share. We got it to go so we could catch the ski show at 12:30pm, Battle for Brickbeard’s Bounty, and have lunch at the same time (I had checked earlier to see if it was ok to bring food into the theater and it was). We enjoyed lunch and the show! I’m glad we didn’t sit up front as those people got absolutely soaked from the pirate antics. After the show you could meet some of the characters from the show so both boys met a soldier while Lukas met the Princess and the host of the show.

After the character meet & greet we headed to Lego City! First up was boating school. This was the longest line we waited in as the boat were a little slow as you did drive them yourself and it was a little difficult for me let alone kids that were driving them. While in line I went to put something in my purse and realized I didn’t have it. Oh my God! Everything was in there, my wallet, money, credit cards, everything except the camera that was tied to my wrist. I remembered taking it off at the ski show so I ran as fast as I’ve ever run back to the theater. And there was standing an employee who said “I’ve been waiting for you.” I guess the exasperated and panicked look on my face gave me away. I checked the bag and everything was there, thanked him profusely and made it back in line for the boats before the boys boarded. Whew! Crisis averted! And thankfully Mike just kept quiet.

After the boats we went to look around the area and see if Dylan wanted to do flying school next, but that was a no go. So driving school it was! The boys had to go to separate schools since they were separated by age, so I took Lukas and Mike took Dylan. Just before Lukas was going to get on I see Mike & Dylan. Dylan decided at the last minute he didn’t want to do it. I put Lukas in a car and tried to explain to him how to drive the car. What was I thinking?! The age for this ride was 3-5 and he was 3, but this seems more like an older 3 ride as they were all having a bit of trouble doing two things at the same time – steering and pushing the pedal. It was fun to watch and the employee at this ride is a saint for doing this job!

Doing all we wanted to in Lego City we headed back towards Imagination Zone where Dylan wanted to ride the Kid Power Towers. Lukas had to sit out because he wasn’t tall enough and I was glad Dylan chose to ride with Mike because this ride you had to pull yourself up with a rope and then you slowly fell back down. Lukas & I watched from a bench talking to a nice older couple that was there with their son and grandkids.

Up next…Chima is not my friend aka part 2 of how my day (and trip) was almost completely ruined

Except for the purse episode, this all looks like a lot of fun! I can't believe how life-like the animals look. I remember seeing Miniland in Cheryl's report of the Legoland in England. I love seeing the cities and all the detail they put in. Did Lukas give himself a scare when he saw himself in the mirror?

Don't like the sound of the teaser at all!

OMG, what a scare with the missing purse! Thank goodness you found it and best of all, "Mike kept quiet". The worst thing a hubby can do is add to your frustration by making a comment. I, once, left my lanyard with all our tickets hanging on the door of a bathroom stall at Epcot. Thankfully I realized it was missing right away and ran immediately to the bathroom to get it. My hubby didn't say anything, he knows better.
