Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Looking forward to hearing more about your trip!
I have been thinking it might be nice to actually be there for Thanksgiving one day....I just don't think I can take the crowds. Did you get your Cali Grill ADR? We got it, but not at the time I wanted and I literally got it at 6:01am online. Can't believe all they had then was 7:45pm or 9:00pm (we wanted 8:30). It took the 9pm. Have you seen the menu? What do you think?

Ok, so I haven’t updated in like….FOREVER!!! LOL….but now that I finally got my CG ADR, I’m pretty much all done.
The only few things I have to do are:
1. Purchase our Photopass Plus
2. Wait for the Disney Florist to update the website with the Christmas stuff in case I want to get anything (I want to see what we can afford and if anything, we’d have to budget for to order in Oct)
3. Pay off our phototgrapher
4. Continue to save.

So, I’m not so into the PTR writing I guess I’ve figured out. I suppose if I was better at it, I’d be posting more here and asking questions here rather than in the main forums, but sometimes I don’t think the posts are read as regularly or by as many people or are as seen as often..
In any case, I do like to post our plans, in case it gives someone else any other ideas and I also like to post to get opinions and thoughts etc. Because I do value my fellow PPers opinions A LOT.
So, what do you all want to know? LOL…
Our schedule? Well…..

We arrive on Saturday Nov. 30. I almost would have had us come in on the Friday, but the flights and the DVC points were both way higher. I figure, this way I’ll have a day to finalize all our packing. (Last time I literally slept for 10 mins. the night before. I have had issues with panic attacks and anxiety and hope to be able to overcome this so I can pack more normally this trip and actually get to bed at a decent hour)
Sometimes DH has to work the day after Thanksgiving. He’s a mover and since it’s near the end of the month, it’s his busiest week of work, except for the holiday. Every year is different though, so we won’t know probably until that week if he is in fact working.
We are flying JetBlue out of Westchester County Airport which is in White Plains, NY. It’s very close to our house. We can also fly out of LaGuardia, but the Westchester Airport is closer and there are no tolls. Plus, it’s just a nice, small, less busy airport. Last year we flew down on the same flight, which leaves at 6:30am (!) and gets in to MCO at 9:15am! We had the car pick us up at 4:30am! I didn’t know how this would go over with DH and how we’d be, but it actually turned out totally ok and we arrived at WDW by like 11am I think it was. We weren’t even tired that first day at all. And we LOVED having the whole day ahead of us. So…we decided this is the way to go, and we booked the same flight for this trip.
We will be staying for two weeks total this trip. One week at BLT and the second week at at AKV/Jambo House. We own DVC at both of these properties. We decided to stay at our home resorts this trip because 1. AKL is our favorite resort (It really feels like home to us) and 2. I thought since this trip is all about experiencing WDW all decorated up, BLT would work out great for us. Plus, to be honest, we love it there…I LOVE the Contemporary, being on the monorail and also being able to walk to the MK in 10 mins. I’d say the majority of our stays at WDW will be at one or both of our home resorts which makes me glad with our choice to buy in as it shows we picked the right places. We might add on one day, but not right now as we can’t afford it! LOL…we’d only add on more points at AKV or maybe BCV or BWV or The Poly if that happens…..
Anyway….we’ve never stayed for a full two weeks before. Well, that’s not entirely true, as our wedding/honeymoon trip was two weeks, but between the wedding and both our families being there, it wasn’t really like a full two week WDW vacation, you know?
We will be using DME this trip as we always do. We are firm believers in Disney transportation (well, except for the transport to Port Canaveral for the cruise, but that’s another story). We drove to WDW twice and had our car, but I hated driving on property! So, we do not rent a car and rely on Mickey and his trains, boats and buses. We really have never had so many issues or problems with it that we would not want to take WDW transportation. Maybe it’s because we take the subway/train and buses a lot at home and are used to it. Idk. But it works for us.
We love the whole tag your luggage at home and don’t see it until it magically arrives in your room. We love DME and the entire experience of everyone being all excited, watching the movie, crying while you watch the movie (well, me anyway, not so much DH. LOL) and even seeing the other resorts if ours is not first (which it never seems to be no matter where we stay (even before we were DVC)

We hope to get to BLT by 11 the latest (ish). We will check in and head to EPCOT for the day. I am hoping our room will be ready as we won’t be back until after IllumiNations….
We have a lunch ADR at Via Napoli for 12:45pm. We have not eaten there before but have heard only good things. I’m really looking forward to it already and have already picked out what I want to eat from the menu on Allears.

Actually, since you’ve read through my long boring post so far, maybe now would be a good time to post our ADR’s….Here we go:

Breakfasts
Chef Mickey--have been here many times for breakfast before.
O’hana-have been here before for breakfast. We love this one ‘cause we love Lilo and Stitch (and DH LOVES Pluto!)
Kona Café-we have been here before for breakfast and actually it’s one of our fave restaurants on property. We eat here every trip for at least one meal. Last trip we did dinner, this trip we have a breakfast and a lunch scheduled. We have never been disappointed here.
Akershus-we have been here before as well. I figure ya gotta do at least one Princess meal and we do not like CRT. We actually LOVE the Norway Pavilion and we think DH has Norwegian blood in him plus we both like to admire the members of the opposite sex here. LOL…I’ll tell that brief story in my TR! We have always enjoyed our breakfasts here.
BOMA-we have eaten here before. WE LOVE BOMA. Especially for dinner, but the breakfasts are great too. I find the service to be really good at breakfast. It also seems like it’s pretty quiet here at breakfast which is nice. I mean, like if I compared it to Chef Mickey, it’s a world apart! LOL. We are actually eating breakfast twice at BOMA this trip.
Crystal Palace – our traditional last breakfast is always at CP.

Lunches
Via Napoli-As stated, new for us!
Plaza-I’ve been years ago, but DH has never been
Biergarten-one of our faves, we try to have lunch here every trip if we can
Kona Café- see above.
Sanaa- One of DH’s faves. I like it too, but probably not as much as him.
Chefs de France-Have been here before for dinner. I didn’t love it. DH thought it was good. I like the look of the lunch menu better and want to see Remy, so we’re trying lunch here.

Dinners
Restaurant Marakkesh- This is a tradition for us and we love this place! It was DH’s first TS Disney meal…EVER. We try to come here every trip on our first night.
Teppan Edo-We went here for the first time last trip and fell in love with it!! How did I never eat here before?!?! Either with DH or before?
Monsieur Paul-New for us. Never went when it was Bistro either…
Be Our Guest-So excited to eat here! Can’t believe I got an ADR for the day and time I wanted!
Luau at The Poly- I’ve only been once and not since 1997. DH has never been. I know it gets mixed reviews, but thought it would be something new and fun for DH.
Artist Point-another of our faves! We try to eat here every trip…we LOVE it!
California Grill-Just finally snagged our ADR! I have never been here before ever. (Consequently, either has DH) We are VERY excited!!
BOMA-OMG. I’m hungry just typing out those 4 letters….we LOVE it here…it’s like home. LOL
La Hacienda de San Angel-New for us. Have heard fantastic things.
Jiko-Our all time favorite restaurant on property…..
Todd English’s Bluezoo-New for us, have heard only great things. Am really very excited to finally get to try it!
San Angel Inn-One of our faves and what we think to be one of the most romantic restaurants on property!
Yachtsman Steakhouse-Have only been here once but it was soo good!! Finally returning and really looking forward to it!
Narcoossee’s-We love it here! I know it gets some mixed reviews, but we’ve never been disappointed in service or food! One of our faves!

Ok, I think I should leave it for now as this post was WAY long. LOL….I hope you enjoyed reading and weren’t too bored!

I’ll try to post again soon. I actually have some fun things about the trip I've planned, but figured this post was long enough as it is...

Thanks for reading!

Glad you got CG.
Your plans look great. Looking at flights for our May trip (yes, it got moved up to May, no seeing you guys now! My parents 40th anniversary is in April and they wanted a family trip to WDW to celebrate. We can't go until May and we will through in my 40th birthday celebration as well) I am looking at getting to WDW as early as possible, but not sure my DSis will be happy with a 6 or 7 am flight. But I could be wrong, she usually goes early on her trips.
Two weeks! Totally jealous!

Been falling behind on this. Congrats on all of the ADRs!

We met once (including your husband), back in 2009 at the DOD for a nice meet with several of us PPs at the MK near the CP and afterwards for Dole Whips! Been a while!

Thanks Cam! It wasn't the exact time I wanted, I wanted 8:30 and could only get 9, but I've heard you can still watch Wishes from the outside area as long as you have an ADR etc..so I guess we'll be ok?

Your plans look great. Looking at flights for our May trip (yes, it got moved up to May, no seeing you guys now! My parents 40th anniversary is in April and they wanted a family trip to WDW to celebrate. We can't go until May and we will through in my 40th birthday celebration as well) I am looking at getting to WDW as early as possible, but not sure my DSis will be happy with a 6 or 7 am flight. But I could be wrong, she usually goes early on her trips.
Two weeks! Totally jealous!
Hey Liz! May...isn't that when we met you?
It's a great time to go really! I'm sorry we'll miss you! I hope your DSis is good with the early flight! I think it's the way to go! Tell her I said so! LOL...
Yep, two weeks! I really think it's going to be fairly relaxing this trip! (though I always say that and then of course, it isn't)

Nope! That's why I posted them! I love to hear other opinions and thoughts! There are still so many places we need to try! DH has never been to Garden Grill for instance! I went for lunch back in 2003, and would love to go back again, but it never seems to get worked in to our plans! There are so many dinner places we like! LOL. Me too!! It's my favorite part! I love picking the places and figuring out where to eat on what days etc.!

We met once (including your husband), back in 2009 at the DOD for a nice meet with several of us PPs at the MK near the CP and afterwards for Dole Whips! Been a while!
Thanks! Yes! I remember that meet! But what's DOD? We couldn't stick around for the Dole Whips, because I think we were headed to dinner somewhere, maybe O'hana? I'd have to check my notes...and yes, I still have my spreadsheet!
I think I remember you! There was a whole bunch of us there! We have become very friendly with a couple who were at that meet actually. We just went to the Bronx Zoo with them and their daughter a few months ago and will be seeing them next month as well! It's so nice to have Disney friends that you become friends with IRL.

DOD is Decade of Dreams which was the 10th anniversary celebration of the Passporter books, which began back in 1999. That's how that meet started I believe as some of us would be attending that a few days later. I went to the Dole Whips portion afterwards. I also had an ADR, but was a little bit later and close by at the CR and the Cali.

I definitely, remember you and your husband. I remember he is from Ireland as we talked about the country as I have relatives there and my grandparents emigrated from there years ago. That was a fun meet, even though casual with some photos near the CP with one of the Disney FP photographers.

Hopefully, another meet with us and others here in the short run.

I think I am close by as I read that you fly out of White Plains. I use that airport when I can as it's only about 20 minutes away or so for me. Great airport and without the congestion of JFK and especially since I prefer to fly on Jet Blue when I can.

Oh Yeah!! That rings a bell! Man, you have a good memory! I do remember taking a couple of pics..whatever happened to those? I don't think I eve saw them. But maybe I just can't remember!
I haven't done a PP meet in awhile, but looks like CanadaAmy and I might be able to meet up on our Dec. trips! I do enjoy meeting PPers IRL. I hope to meet the ones I know from here for years and have never met, like Cheryl, Eileen, and Kelly among others...
Oh! I didn't realize you were so close! Cool! Yeah, it's our first choice for airport, but the choices are a bit limited I guess....but can't beat the JetBlue flights direct to MCO from there!

Ok....so I don't know why I did this....but I just added lunch at Crystal Palace for the heck of it! LOL....

I was like I don't know, driving to work or walking into the building and I got a flash of CP... (I get these weird flashy things, they're very hard to explain)...

Anyway....all of a sudden I was like....I really don't want to wait till our very last morning to go to CP! I've only ever eaten breakfast there, and I've heard the lunches and dinners are not great, but what the heck I figured....we actually have breakfast at BOMA and one of our date night dinners planned for BlueZoo that night, but I figure, we don't HAVE to eat too much at the buffet.....I kind of booked it just to have another CP experience...we love the decor, the restaurant and the characters...and we don't have to even sit and wait for all four, since we're coming back for breakfast anyway...

IDK, I am pretty impulsive.

The reason we have a place to fit in this extra TS lunch now, is we had to cancel our photo shoot which was to be that day...
An unexpected, pretty large (for us) financial expense came up that we need to pay by the end of this month. We went over all of our budget for the next couple of months and we figured we could cut the photo shoot (which also included hair and makeup for me and a new dress etc.) and put the $500-$600 towards this unexpected expense). It sucks, but we will hopefully be able to do it on our next trip in NOV. 2014...

So, looks like as I stated in my previous post, that we'll be able to maybe meet up with CanadaAmy on our trip, which is so cool! I hope it works out, even to just say hey and stuff....

They finally fixed our MDE account, so now I'm just curious if we'll get the FP+ option in a few weeks or what...I'm actually pretty nervous about it already and feel all pressured about it...

Guess we'll just have to wait and see...

I can't wait to pre-order our Photopass +, and I almost bit the bullet and did it, but then realized again, we need to pay that thing...so the PP+ order will have to wait until next month....which is fine.

DH and I are going to see Russell Brand tonight....I'm very excited!! I got tickets on Stubhub and we're in the 8th row! (I bought the tickets before the unexpected expense came in).....after that came in over Labor Day weekend, we are in a crunch time $wise until the trip...

Oh! But we did adopt a new dog!! (Again, we told the foster mom we would BEFORE we got the scary mail).....

I still have loads more about our trip....but I don't want to write too much at once, cause I think it sounds boring...

Thanks again for reading all! Can't believe we're at 72 days out!

We had lunch at CP last year and I enjoyed it.
Bummer on the extra expense and having to cancel the photo shoot. Maybe you can dress up one night and have pictures taken in the lobby at like GF or something - I know I've seen the PP photographers set up in the lobby at AKL.
Congrats on the new puppy!

Maybe it was Oct of 2007. Did you guys go the week of Halloween that year?
So, so sorry you had to cancel the photoshoot. I hate those unexpected expenses. We are having to buy a new windshield for our car, yippee!!
Nothing wrong with a little extra CP.
