Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

This is very interesting! When trying to find names for my DD, my ex DH and I could not agree on anything. Finally I let him pick a boy name and I picked a girl name. He picked Nicholas (after Jack Nicklaus golfer) which I really didn't like; I wanted Austin Travis. I chose Katrina after a character on the soap opera One Life To Live. Ha Ha I won!!! Twelve years later when I had DS with my "real" DH we agreed to Travis with the middle name Campbell (my maiden name). In Texas Travis is a very important name since William Barrett Travis was prominent in our fight for indepence from Mexico.
DH named his DD Summer Elise then when they had the oldest DS he told his ex he wanted Jeremiah but he wasn't there when the birth certificate was filled out and she didn't know how to spell that so she went with Jeremy. Then when the next DS came he picked Beck Elliot Neal and poor boy has always had trouble with people switching the first and last name. Of course now he is usually known as Coach Neal.

I think they were too deep in to break the trend and should have went ahead and named the baby Spring!

My husband also has suggested to me that we name our baby girl Winter.

There was an episode of House Hunters on once were they had 4 girls all named after the seasons! That was the first time I had ever seen that before.

Although the funny thing is, I have never been called Stevie, but was called Louie (middle name Louise) for a short period of time. .

It wasn't me, I SWEAR!!!

DH family names boys after family, which makes it a bit hard with all the Abrahams and Benjamins....it went back and forth for a few years with those two names, but a few detours and my husband was named David Edward after his great-grandfather....the moonshiner.....

When I got pregnant, DH did not want a junior either...(sound familiar?) so my choices were Benjamin, Abraham, Frederick or Wood. Yes, Wood, no it's not short for anything. It's Wood...no middle name. DH has three brothers and the good names were gone.
We chose Benjamin for DH's Great-great Grandfather who was a prisoner-of-war in Andersonville during the Civil War and survived. He was there when the spring started to run. I did put my foot down about the middle name Franklin (which the esteemed forebearer carried) and gave him the middle name of David after his father. He goes by Ben, but I still call him Benjamin. He was never called Benny or Benji, thank goodness!
Our second boy was named Daniel Stephen. (Daniel after DH's mom's brother and Stephen for me. ) I just refused to even look at those names again! I wanted to name him Hunter after my grandfather, but he was still alive and absolutely said NO WAY.
That's ok, my new 4 month old grandson, Danny's son, is named Hunter

And it still works as now I'm a Matthews.
My mom was Sharon Ann Davies (SAD) until she married and her initials became SAM - which my dad still called her on occasion. When I had DD Samantha, everyone expected to call her Sam, but I refused - it was Nikki. Her name at birth was Samantha Nicole. Then, at about 6 months I suddenly decided to go to Samantha. I called her that until she started talking and trying to say her name. She said "Mantha Cole" and that's what I called her. Until the day someone told me what a cute little boy I had, even though I was going to turn him into a sissy! (She was wearing a dress, dress shoes, and jewelry - there was NO WAY she looked like a boy) The person thought I was calling her Matthew Cole. So, she became Samantha again.

BTW - I always HATED the name Samantha. Her father got to pick the first name for a girl and I got the first name for a boy and the other person got to pick the middle name. After she was born, the doctors knocked me out (pretty traumatic birth, both of us in ICU). During the birth, the doctor talked about how all 3 of her boys had hair just that color! The next day when they showed me my baby and asked me what the name was, I said "Patrick Justin" and wondered why the nurse looked at me funny, until she said "You do know this is a girl, don't you?" Nope, didn't know!

My name is actually Cynthia and that's just a name that my Mom liked back in 1962. My middle name is Louise which is also my Mom's middle name. My Mom was born on Christmas and she was named Carol. My Dad's middle name is Nelson which was the name of the Doctor who delivered him.

I didn't see your post until after I made mine, and it cracked me up as well. I really didn't know Stevie was a common nickname for Stephanie.

Such interesting stories! There is no special story behind my name. My parents liked the name Jeannette and since I am the youngest of 3 girls, I think they had run out of other options. My family and college friends usually shorten my name, although my family spells it Net and my college friends spell it Nette.
My son, Anthony Joseph, is named after his great-grandfather (DH's grandfather) Anthony. Anthony's middle name comes from both my father and DH's father whose first names are Joseph. For Justin Michael, we were looking for a name that starting with "J" (besides Joseph), and we both really liked that one. Michael is DH's first name.

I was going to be named Christina, it was pretty set until my mom saw Stefanie Powers on TV while in the hospital right before my delivery and she decided she liked that name better and changed her mind to Stephanie.
