As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I am a late booker....no matter how many times I say I am going to book as soon as the flights come out I end up waiting until the last month or so before I book...I have this feeling if I book too soon a cheaper price will come out (we fly Jet Blue so no change and credit with them )...so far my track record has been on the mark, I usually get a better price waiting but it gets so nerve wrecking.
Meg, Jet Blue does give credits They don't advertise it on their website at all of course, but if you see that your flight has gone down in price, just call up and tell them you want a credit put in your travel bank. I just did this yesterday for our November trip There is no limit on the amount of credits that you can get, they'll keep giving them as long as the price keeps going down, and you have a year to book travel with those credits.
Just hoppin' on board, Linny! I so enjoyed your mommy-daughter TR, and now can't wait to hear about your family adventure! Those kiddos are adorable.
Yeah... I'm with you on the SWA thing. I just have to book those flights minutes after they come out. Just can't help myself! Most of the time the fares have only gone up because we travel during the ever-popular Jersey Week. This year, however, SWA barely had any direct flights to choose from out of PHL, so we're flying AirTran for the first time. I hope it is a good experience!
Also, we like the late flight idea. In fact, we've be doing that the last several years ourselves. We catch a late Friday flight, and then hit the ground running on Saturday. Sometimes we even stay at the MCO Hyatt so we can go right to bed (and save a few bucks) and catch an early morning DME to the resort.

I'm the same way with flights. I check prices months in advance and then I tell myself I'll be patient and wait to see if prices drop. Inevitably, a week or so later, we're booked and ready to fly!
Your kids are adorable! I love the Stitch photos and the picture of Andre and Minnie on the cruise!
I know...I just can't help myself. it's a problem

Thank you, I think the size of them was a bit much for him to take in. Wonder how he will be this time??

Andre has gotten BIG!! It's crazy too.
Josie loves the Stitch wake up calls.....and this was before she even knew him, so again, this is going to be GTREAT!!!

Sorry for the hijak, Linny!
OK, BUT here was where I got screwed with SW last year and then learned my lesson. I thought if I "purchased" my flights in February for travel in Sept it could work. Not the case, you need to "USE' the credit before the date when you first booked.....make sense?? So If we want to use our $60 each credit, we need to use it before February. Is Jet Blue the same?

Please come back with more soon!
HI, and thank you about the kiddies!! I think we are the few Jersey folk that don't travel to the world during Jersey Week. I think as the kids get older we will though because of school.
Glad to hear you like the later flights.....I'll try anything.....once

Yes, Jet Blue is different in that aspect I asked the agent when I called about getting a credit and she told me that I have one year to book my travel with the credits, the flight does not have to be taken before that year is up. So, I think we will be able to use the credit for a trip next November, as long as I book before April 2013. At least I hope we can
Look how big Andre has gotten! Wow! Joining in for the fun - sounds like a perfect trip!
And just curious....what are the odds that you'll do this PTR, take the trip, and complete the TR before Dawn finishes the Christmas TR? (sorry, Dawn!)
Ouch...
Okay, so that is now three TRs (including my own) where I'm getting dissed.
We flew in late when we all stayed at the Poly and ended up doing just what you will be doing, but even later. We got to the room around 11:30 and just went to bed and were up and at 'em the next morning.

Well that is really awesome then!! Hmmmm......maybe I should look into Jet Blue for the future, or just not be such a spaz about buying my flights so quickly

With all those frapps you have been dowing lately you would think your TR would be done and you would be moving on to your PTR
Glad to hear that late flights worked well for you guys too.......but wait till you hear about our next morning....you are all going to think we are super lazy.....

Great start, Linny! I love how this has all worked out with the Poly and Josie's new love of all things Lilo and Stitch. Buying airfare makes me a nervous wreck, so that has become Luke's big job in order to keep me sane.
I am the same way about flights, so I feel your pain there. I also hate that they seperate the credits, so you can only use them for each individual person. Oh well, what are you going to do?
Both your kids are very cute! It's so fun with them in WDW.
Love the story behind how Josie got her Stitch fluffy, very cute!
