As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Our hotel is within walking distance, so we'll most likely walk over. I plan to arrive a little early in case we get lost. See everyone on Sunday! Can't wait!

Glad your hotel makes it so convenient!
Just so folks have some idea of who they're looking for (since I'm not as famous as Princess Sharon!), I'll have a black Dooney & Burke purse, with rainbow colored Mickey Mouses all over it!
The reservation is in my name - Colleen McLain.
I think we are now at 10 people? (Sharon, don't know if you're able to update the first post with the changes?)
I printed that list out, so if there are changes that would be great if it could be updated. As for what I'll be wearing, I have no clue yet, but I still look the same as what's in my sig pic, so I'll be easy to spot. Can't wait to meet everyone!

I updated the first post! I don't know how much I'll be on the boards before Sunday (we're leaving tomorrow), so I'll see you all soon!

So sorry, but I am going to have to drop out of this one. My DM was going with me, but my DSF has cancer again and is up the road today having a bronchoscopy/biopsy which may not go so great (he is 73 and has COPD/Emphysema) so I need to be around this weekend. Have fun and take lots of pictures for me to see.

So sorry you can't come! Good luck with all that's going on with your family, though. And BTW, your daughter is GORGEOUS in her prom dress!

Wish I could, but we made other plans involving all the DGKs and Mema needs to be here! (we are making Mother's Day gifts for their Moms...please send me pixies.... )
I'm home and we had such a nice time with Sharon and her mother! It was nice to meet some new to me Passporters and the restaurant was AWESOME! My phone died, so I did not get photos. Sharon did and Colleen did too.
Brunch was great! It was a treat to meet Sharon and her mom, and a bonus to meet Joan W, and Rosanna and her daughter, Peyton.
We were sorry that Melissa and her mom had to cancel due to an ER trip, and hoping that Hope is feeling better!
Also sorry Eileen didn't end up being able to make it. Maybe another time!
So, if I do say so myself, the restaurant was EXCELLENT! For anyone in the DC area, I highly recommend CoCo Sala, on F Street NW. Not sure how other meals are, but brunch is YUMMY! See for yourselves -
We all got the 3 course brunch (because we had to, being a party of 6 or more).
It began with:
We agreed it was like a more delicious chocolate Munchkin, with warm chocolate ganache in the middle, some kind of an orange sauce, and chopped pecans. MMMMMM!
We had 4 different entrees between the 6 of us (there were 2 pairs of matches).
First, the breakfast flatbread:
citrus ricotta pancakes / white chocolate lemon cream / berry compote / caramel passion fruit sauce
This was my dish, and it was phenomenal! Very light, thanks to the ricotta.
French toast:
cinnamon brioche stuffed with house-made marshmallow, dark chocolate, & graham shortbread /warm banana compote/ milk chocolate mousse
We all had some kind of cocoa to drink: dark chocolate, milk chocolate, salted caramel and chipotle (there were a few other options, but these were the ones we chose).
And desserts:
STOLEN HEART: white chocolate & raspberry mousse with chocolate crispy pearls

First of all, I just want to say how extremely sad we were that we weren't able to join all of you yesterday. At 6am, I heard Hope crying in her bedroom, so Chad went in thinking she was having a nightmare, but she said she had a boo boo on her neck, and Chad thought she was just out of it so he told her to go back to sleep...which she did. Around 7am, she actually came into our room crying and holding her neck, and when I went to pick her up to put her in bed with me, she gave this horrible scream. I've honestly never seen her like that before. Every time I tried to move her she'd make that scream. So I called my mom, who came over, and when we realized that everytime she moved her neck, she'd cry hysterically or make that horrible screaming sound, we knew we had to take her to the ER.
They said she has Cervical Dystonia, which is basically a stiff neck but with muscle spasms or shooting pains. She says she fell out of bed, but I know if that had happened then she would have called me into her room. I think she might have slept on it the wrong way, or jarred it while playing at her birthday party the night before. She hardly moved all day, but by late afternoon I was able to get her moving around, and this morning she said it only hurts a little bit, so she's doing much much better.
It looks like all of you had a fabulous time and the food looked fantastic. To say that I'm bummed is an understatement, but I'm sure there will be another time in the future where we will all get to meet each other again.
