Come sail away, Come sail away, Come sail away with me TR Completed 2/8/2012 - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm sure the fish extender exchange will be fun! I thought about doing it, but the Dis boards are just to crazy-busy for me! I'll stay here where it's comfy. If Josie is into the characters, she'll love the cruise--they're all over the place! And the shows are wonderful. Does Josie understand the countdown calendar yet?
Here I am...finally!!! Thank God you told me about this little report that has been going on since, hmmm...the end of AUGUST!!! Okay, I'm all caught up and I want to try and put your mind at ease about the tea ressies on the ship. I had the same exact problem when we went on our Eastern Caribbean cruise with DCL, but after doing a lot of research, I found out that they keep a few open spaces to the side so people can grab them the day they get on the ship.
On the Magic, I think we had to go to the Diversions lounge (which is not on the Dream) to see if anything was available, and it was. If I were you, I would find out where you need to go on the ship to try to get a ressie, so right when you step foot on the Dream you can head on over there. And by the way, tea was wonderful and I really hope you get to enjoy it.
And your countdown looks great! I've decided to do something different this year since the thought of peeling all of those Mickey heads makes me nauseous. We'll see what I can come up with...not sure if Hope will comprehend it, but it's worth a shot.
Can't wait to read more...oh, and I'm even more jealous now since you're staying at my two favorite resorts in one trip!!!
Thanks for joining in!!! Those Mickey heads were a pain, but once I got on a good roll I was OK. I'm gonna try once onboard for the tea, but if we don't get it, I can still go on. Are kids even allowed in for tea? Guess I should look into that first...duh!

Love the idea of the pillowcases - we have tons of autograph books, one year I got a tote for her to have signed, but sometimes the autograph book was just the easiest. I like the idea of having something useful that won't get shoved in a drawer until the next trip. The pillowcases is a great idea and love the personalization on them.
Love the fish extender (even though I am sure that yours would have come out just as good) the countdown calendar is adorable!!!
Thank yoou, that darn countdown calendar worked my nerves for a week. Hey ya know they are sailing out of NYC next year??? Short little cruise to nowhere perhaps??

And I included the markers when I submitted ours - both last year (fabric markers) and this year (Bic colored markers). They returned the markers. I did give them a couple of the GIANT bags of M&M's to thank them, and those seemed appreciated.
They are cute right? I'm happy with them. Yes, I did grab me a set of fabric markers. Do I need to put the markers , the pillowcases and my treats for them in like a big bag or box with our name and stateroom # on it? What should I use for that?

What is it with that site? It does give me a headache, I like it here too. Although I have read alot of cruise info there, so once I could find it, it was helpful.
No, I'm pretty sure Josie doesn't get the countdown yet. Maybe she will when we actually start counting down. Which I think is tomorrow BTW

You can have them all in a bag (mine were just in a plastic Michael's bag), and then when you take it to Guest Services, they will fill out a form they have, with your name & stateroom number, and attach it to the bag.
I thought you said your craft looked like it was made by feet. well I sure dont think so! Your countdown is great! Btw-all my Mickey heads, punched out of construction paper-no Home Depot trips for me.
That FE is too cute! And so are the pillowcases!
This trip will be a first for the autograph book so we'll see how it goes. I did get the 40th anniversary one that you can put pictures in too.
You're so close now!

I can understand for dinner. But for brunch or tea.....well that's just silly. So, looks like I won't be running to book anything onboard now. Oh well wait.............maybe to the spa
Well miss thang!! You sure did a lot of investingating for this cruise! I had no idea about the Fish extenders or any of that stuff! Wow! sounds like a lot of fun though! I adore those pillowcases. How long did it take for you to get those? how much was it? I might try to get those for our trip just as a fun thing I"m super impressed with your investigating and the countdown calendar! I think it looks great! keep up the craftiness Oh and on the one piece...its from VS its gotta be good right?? They have some really nice one pieces on there better than the ones my mom would pick out for me years ago LOL
Love the countdown...no feet there!! I've got a pile of HD Mickey heads to peel for our countdown. Or, I might just bite the bullet and spring for the larger Mickey punch. I've got a small one.
Love the FE and the pillowcases too. Adorable!! And I didn't realize how much there is to know about cruising with Disney. You certainly did your homework. I feel so comfortable at WDW 'cause I know most of what I think I need to, I'd be lost on a DCL cruise...but that would be one time I wouldn't mind being lost

Great, thanks for that info!

Thanks ladies. My first attempt did look like I made it with 2 feet. I was trying to do it by the real calendar days starting on Sept 15th-Oct 15th, all on one piece of paper. Hubs told me to just scratch that idea because nothing was fitting, he told me to grab a ruler and just get started. A what? A ruler? Hmmmmm.............out to Michaels I went, From there, the craft god's starting to appear,......... a little
Kelly, those autograph books are cute. I have looked at those online. Let me know how that all goes this year.

GIRL, I've been on it. Since I had no park days to plan for this year
I sent you the info on the pillowcases, did you get it?
I am slowly getting some craftiness heading my way.......slowly
The one piece is OK, they are DKNY from VS. I got a black one and a red one............why two??? I have no idea. Could they be growing on me like those stupid Fit Flops did????........OMG, what is happening to me???

What's Etsy?
Planning this trip has sure been different. No park hours or fireworks or show schedules, no ADR's to make. Dinner is always at 6pm for us, show is always at 8pm and then really whatever else the day blows our way........bizarre to me
Peeling the Mickey heads wasn't too bad once you get into a good rhythm.
Etsy,.................. well really I have no idea what it means or what the criteria is for it, but it's a website where the crafty folk sell their creations. I'm sure someone on here could explian better.
Actually, I searched Etsy after I posted that and looked around for Disney stuff. Your Josie pillowcase is the sample for the pillowcases on Etsy now!! Josie's famous!! LOL

Oceaners Club..........If you haven't checked it out online, or haven't seen it in person, stop reading this and do it NOW. That place looks amazing. At first when booking this cruise I wasn't real keen on the idea of dropping Josie off in there. I mean, this is a "family" vacation. Why would I ditch her for a few hours? Well, looking at all the info, I think I may have to be dragging her out of there.
I'm sure she will probably go down there at least once a day, maybe in the afternoon I guess. That girl makes friends so quickly, I'm sure she will have her own little crew. I just know she will be in complete awe
Small World Nursery. OK, same thing here, I really have no plans to drop my nugget off here. Especially if he is awake. I mean I think I wouldn't mind if he is napping, or even at night for a few hrs while he is aslepp. I don't know how I feel about it with him. But again, all I have heard is good things, so we'll see when it comes to him.
As for hubs and I getting some "adult" time. I'm not worried about it. He'll get a chance to go off and ride the Aquaduck at some point I am sure. Just like I will get the chance to try out the spa too. At some point. My kids go to bed fairly early. On vacation it's always a bit different, but I know by 10 they will both be out, if not sooner. Hubs and I have decided we will take turns running down to grab a drink at one of the adult bars just to see them all at least. My choice for sure is PINK! I love the whole Dumbo theme to it with the pink champagne and I am really looking forward to a glass. Other than tagging each other out to go check out the adult bars, I am looking forward to spending some time with my man on our verandah while enjoying some type of cocktail as the kiddies are fast asleep.
I am really excited about the rotational dining as well. I have looked over all the menus and I am equally excited for them all, so which ever one we have to repeat will be fine with me!
I am a show person for sure, so seeing a different show everynight is going to be great!!! Josie will love this too I'm sure. Andre, well............I have no clue what that little nugget will do. My guess is he may pass out and Arnaud said he will take him back to the room or just let him sleep on one of us, depending on how far into the show it is. Who knows, maybe I'll have a song and dance man on my hands and he will be wide awake for the whole thing. We shall see.
I have started a little of what I call my "staging" areas. The packing. Just small little groupings right now. I'll bust out the suitcases and start looking over what's gonna go where sometime this week. I also have Josie's b-day party to start getting in order. We come home on a Friday and her party is Sunday...............who's stellar idea was that one
Actually, I searched Etsy after I posted that and looked around for Disney stuff. Your Josie pillowcase is the sample for the pillowcases on Etsy now!! Josie's famous!! LOL
I Saw that the other day. I was sending it to Crissy as she had asked about maybe getting one. Too funny right??
