The Overtakers are in Qahoots. FIRST WILD RIDE 15SEP2011-18SEP2011 - 01DEC2011 Updated - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

For anyone interested in the Cirque deal, anyone can get it. It is a "DVC/AP/anyone who signs up on Cirques website" deal. It is a good rate but just not in our budget this trip. And it is $50 per ticket in category 2 seats, I also called and the girl said she was receiving a mess of calls about that 2 for $50 and wanted to know where I heard it from. She then talked to a manager (thought I might get lucky and get the deal) but since it wasn't an official Disney site they couldn't honor the 2/$50 deal. I understood, after all if Disney had to honor all deals that were emailed by fan sites there would be alot of "deals" being sent out.

So...we are even closer. Can hardly believe it...my countdown on my phone actually says 19 days and some hours...
I must finally be developing senior moments...in my old age.
I just realized...my PTR dates say Aug 2011...instead of Sept 2011.
So, of course I'll go out to the best moderator ever, Cam22, and ask her to update it AGAIN for me. She'll get sick of my eventually. Especially when I get it switched over to actual trip report and update it daily.
Well...we are off to Pat Benatar tonight. I promise...tomorrow I will actually start skirt work. I'm supposed to go to a friends for a CROP...but I might actually take the skirts and work on them...plus a few scrapbook things from March 2011 Disney trip...which will likely never be completed. Then I should have all day Sunday...to work on them also.
It seems like a lot of work...but I'm actually just doing the cutout...ironing it on...hand tacking it to be sure...and then adding a little bling...to make it well POP!!!
I will definitely post completed pictures...and you should definitely see pictures of us in the costumes...as Wolfhunt has paid for the Photopass...so we can get our magic shots!!! What can I say I cannot wait!.
Okay...dining is good...park plans are kind of made. Just on the countdown to online check in.
But here is the spanner in the works.
DS5 will be at his father's in Florida while we are at Disney. DH aka Dew wants him to be driven over to the world on Saturday morning...spend all day with us and then go back with his father on Sunday morning before we fly back. I admit I love the idea...but at the same time...what happened to the NO KIDS trip idea?
And...it will be a lot of hassle to wait for his father to drop him off and pick him up. He's not exactly the punctual type of guy if you know what I mean...
Plus...it will change touring plans for that day. I totally don't want him there for MNSSHP on Friday...because I'd have to buy an extra days tickets...and the MNSSHP ticket for him. Plus do a costume.
I want to get to see him...believe me I do...but at the same time...I'm not sure it's worth all the hassle for 24 hours. Convincing DH of that is the hardest part. He and his BOY...are the best of buds. Plus...it is DS5's happiest place on earth too...and it's not someplace his Dad...who lives an hour and a half away would ever do. He's talking about taking him to see a mermaid show...seriously...DS5 was like "I don't like the Little Mermaid, it's for girls....a pirate show would be better." His father didn't even get the Little Mermaid reference...it had DH and I laughing it up for weeks after the comment. Our Disney boy...
Plus...I'm kind of thinking...I might try to take DS5 and I to Disneyland sometime next fall...if I could do that...with the opening of the Cars land...he'd be in heaven. That seems much better money spent...then having to get him a one day/two day ticket for Saturday afternoon...evening/Sunday morning.
But I'm open for opinions...should we take the hassle of waiting around on DS5 to be dropped off at the resort...and picked up...or should we just not schedule it???
Having dealt with an ex with being on time......I would pass! It might be hard on DS to come for only 1 day and then have to leave you two.
That's what I'm kind of worried about too. He doesn't understand that he has to stay with his father a little bit and won't be able to come right home with us.
For some reason his time concept is off kilter or he has no patience. He's called me and asked me to pick him up immediately from his father's before and when I said I couldn't get there for an hour or so...he's gotten really upset. Patience is something I really can't expect from him and for him to have to go home with his Father instead of flying back with us immediately might be a little bit traumatic.
It's just a matter of convincing DH of that. DS5 has him wrapped around his finger.

DH researched on the web for me....(isn't that sweet) and found out that the only local post office was about a 35 minute drive to Bethel, Ohio to get our passports done. I needed a renewal and he needed his 1st passport. Can you believe it...he's never had one!!!
I'm on my 4th...but oh well....We went the other night and got our photos...(after I spent 30 minutes putting on good makeup ).
So we had to order his Ohio birth certificate....his is locked in our fire safe...and we've misplaced the keys. Not the best move on our part...but we got a certified copy from the State about a week after I ordered it...so that was good timing.
So we go in...and met the nicest Postal worker. She was courteous and even made free copies of our driver's license and explained the whole process.
If she'd have been a CM...I'd have commended her to someone at the Park customer service...but DH has said he will probably contact the post office and tell them how wonderful she was to help us.
So...we filled out our packs...and sent in our paperwork...now minor rant here. They made me send in my old passport...so I don't have a passport until I get my new one. Now...what if I was an international traveler for work...I'd have had to pay extra to expedite it...and hope that it came in before I had to leave the country!!! All they are gonna do...is punch holes in it so it's unusable...that's what they did to my last one.
My company paid to expedite my last one...since I was leaving for Belgium in 2 weeks. Fortunately this month I don't have any travel scheduled. But I think that could be really irritating for the professional traveler.
Alright enough ranting...so we sent off for our Passports. I checked USPS delivery confirmation number and it shows it made it to the Pittsburgh processing center at 5:17am this morning (Monday, 29 August 2011). So hopefully it won't take to long and we will have our new passport books for Trip #3 on the Disney Dream in January.
So....on the way back...I spotted an old Ben Franklin 5 & 10. I immediately pulled into the parking lot and we headed in the door.
I was able to get the felt...some star sequins...for the skirts. And some old fashioned Swedish fish...that the lady measured out in scoops on an old fashioned scale for DH.
So supplies are ready...now I need to quit being bad and do the work.
Tonight we are heading over to Wolfhunt and Puzzlewoman's house for a grill out. Yummy. Then if we get home early enough. I'll start my cutouts.
Hopefully...I'll get the work done this week in the evenings instead of relying on our last two weekends. I think they will just be too hectic. This weekend is Labor Day weekend and next weekend we have Oktoberfest in Mainstrasse Village(Covington, KY) on Saturday and then apple picking on Sunday
Just a quick side note:
Mickey visited our house this weekend. We've never had this problem before...but DH went to get something out of our hall closet and noticed that my Bengal's heating pad...the kind filled with dried corn...had a big hole and a pile of the corn beside it.It was brand new and I just cleaned out the closet 2 weekends ago. Turns out...Mickey and probably Minnie have come into the house sometime in the past week or two.
Now...I'm a true believer in the Mickey and Minnie mouse...but I don't want to live with them. So...we will have to find a way to kindly get them to move out! The thought of them being in my house...just grosses me out.
I spent all day Sunday cleaning and throwing stuff out...that they might have contaminated out of the hall closet. Cleaned all my cabinets and scrubbed all the floors. Our house is older...so there is a first time for everything. See...we've decided not to let our dogs have the run of the house anymore. They now can only be in the kitchen and living room....so it seems Mickey or Minnie...have decided it's now safe to move in...well I'm giving them eviction notice!!!
Mickey and/or Minnie...thy are formerly evicted from this residence. DH has blocked all entrances to the house and we have set some traps for you. Hope...you like peanut butter!!!
So...that is the latest update. I will hopefully be posting...skirt/costume pics in the next few days. If they match the picture in my mind...I think they will be really neat!
Best of luck until next time my friends...Cheeser out~!
Mickey and Minnie are a problem and if they are inside now prepare for a hard winter We have Chester and Chubbs for that problem Chubbs does what is supposed to get done by a cat Chester stuns them and hides them in a shoe to play with later
