The Two Week "Mini" Disney Vacation - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great update Coop! Tell Chuck Hi! for me and that I can't wait to see his lists!
Le Cellier....I have that ressie on my schedule and it is for lunch. Bc they don't offer the burger on the dinner menu. I the burger! It's so much more than your average plain jane burger, it's like a steak burger. Best burger I have ever had in my life hands down! Definately recommend it, in fact very highly!
Your down days sound great. I think it's good to have a plan in case you decide to go out. I haven't done PTC, mostly bc I can't get away from Sci Fi and we don't spend a whole lot of time in DHS. But it sure sounds yummy!
Can't wait to hear more! 3 months
OK - one burger coming up! Didn't really care for SciFi when I went with my BFF. We didn't get a car though, just a saucer table. Yay for 3 months!!!

So it's not just me? I was beginning to wonder if I was a glutton! People I work with can't believe that I not only know where I'm going to eat in November but what I will most likely order!
You are going to love HDDR I've been on every trip I've gone on and it still doesn't get old Even DW who has only heard what my ex-partner and I could do from it is looking forward to it
Don't feel bad about doing WDW on your stomache I plan park days and times around where we are going to eat. There are just far too many good places and variety
Tuesday Nov 8: This is our halfway point. Our plans today are kind of soft. We will spend some time in Epcot again. We have an ADR for Via Napoli at 12:30. This is a first for us both but sounds so good. Then back to the BLT (or bacon, lettuce and tomato as DH calls it) for a nap or swimming (or both).
Then we have an 8:00 pm ADR at WCC. This is new for us and should be fun. DH is a big kid (who isn’t at Disney though) and loves to have fun with people. He will mess with the waitresses. “How do you prepare the chicken? Just tell it that it is going to die?” “Is that whole milk from a whole cow?” I hear that this place can be hit or miss depending on how the staff is, but with DH - I always have a good time. Just love that man!!!!
Wednesday Nov 9: We have a 10 am ADR at The Wave (right next door) so we can “sleep in” a bit. (for DH - 6 am is sleeping in. For me, 6 am is bedtime as I usually work til 3 am. Last year, though, I was proud to say I usually got up before the alarm - sometimes even before DH! I converted to a daytime person for the trip)
This day we will probably go to AK as we haven’t been there since the beginning of this trip. Then we have a 7:30 pm ADR at Rose and Crown. We are going to ask for patio seating for Illuminations! Fingers crossed and pixies please. We didn’t see Illuminations last year. That was the only fireworks show we missed and DH has NEVER seen it. So that is a must! Today is also when the Osborne lights start but we won’t be able to fit that in until later in the week. RIP Jennings Osborne -
On a non-Disney note: Last week we had a ton of rain. I mean over 2 inches per hour, road flooding downpours. DH woke me up (at around 6 am) to show me that our basement was flooding. Yay. Not “Titanic” flooding but more like “A River Runs Through It”. So I was picturing $$$$ as I thought gutters, roof, foundation repair, water damage clean up, cha-ching, cha-ching, cha-ching. There goes Disney money. Well, we walked around the house (in said downpour) to check where it was pooling around the foundation etc. Come to find out - one of our downspouts was blocked and the water was pouring out around it! So said problem was fixed with 3 gutter extenders (to direct water away from the foundation of the house) for $60 and a coat hanger $0.05! We bought plastic tubs (think Owners Lockers) to hold our stuff and put those up on palettes but I think we are good. It rained hard last night and the basement was dry!
Up Next: Staying close to “home” and 11/11/11.
“The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.” - Walt Disney
Your little Mini Cooper dressed up like a cow is so cute!
All of your plans look great! It looks like you are going to have a very relaxed and delicious vacation!
I hope that you are able to get a window table at CG!
also with getting a patio table at Rose and Crown for Illuminations! I Illuminations!! It is something I must see every time I am at WDW!!
Just a FYI.....when we had our patio table at R and C the wind was blowing in our direction! Which means the smoke from the fireworks was blowing our way as well!
Thank goodness the flooding wasn't worse! Glad you figured out was wrong in time! Your plans look good. I hope you get a nice table for Illuminations viewing at R&C--I can't believe your DH hasn't seen it!
Plans sound great again! for a patio table at R&C.
Chuck sounds like a character! @ BLT, how do you prepare the chicken?, and whole milk from a whole cow. He is too much!
We go to Sci Fi for every trip. It's one my DH's fave places. He loves the Sci Fi monster movies and cartoons they show there, he loves cars, and I love the atmosphere. DD thinks it's pretty neat too. We always order just burgers & fries, nothing fancy. So we aren't expecting more than just burger & fries.
Someday I might make it to PTC, it's just a hard one bc we don't like DHS as much so we only spend a minimum amount of time there, just not enough for 2 ADR's. We have the 2 half days planned for this year but that is only bc I want to see B&B, Fantasmic, and trying to sign DD up for Jedi Training. Resulting in 2 days, bc one thing is at night and the other in the morning.
I like Illuminations, and think everyone should see it! That being said, Wishes is my absolute fave and I could probably watch it everynight! This year will be a first for Illuminations for both DH and DD, as well as Fantasmic. DisneyDana convinced me to work in into my schedule as it's her fave show at WDW. I never wanted to fight the crowds for it or be in the park that long.
Thank goodness your flooding problem was an easy fix and no harm or foul to WDW planning.
I too plan my days around food for the most part and we our TS meals. So no you are not the only one by far to do that. People do look at me crazy when they know I know what my meals will be 6 months out, and what I am getting as well.
Can't wait to hear more about your plans. So far sounds like a great time!

I warned DH about the "corny" jokes - but it was his choice. I know we will have fun though. Dining at Disney is just amazing!

Yeah, we didn't see it last year (I did with my BFF in April) and before last Nov, the last time DH was at WDW was 1981! Epcot wasn't even completed!

Yep, he is quite a character! He makes me laugh every day though. One time, we were at Cedar Point and a couple asked him to take their picture (the wife asked me to hold her purse!) and he started to focus the camera then turned around and started to walk away with their camera! He was joking naturally, but they were kinda shocked. Then we all had a laugh. (they probably also learned not to trust just anyone) He only plays if they can handle it.

I know. Seeing Illuminations is a MUST! It seems like we may see Wishes a lot this trip. Just the way it is working out - wasn't intentional. We also want to see the Osborne Lights. But can we fit it in? Stay tuned.
Before I get into today’s update - Disney News: I just booked our Wild Africa Trek! 8 am on Friday 11/4!! Doing the happy dance for that one! Woo Hoo! Ok - on with the show.
Thursday Nov 10: We want to get up and out for RD at MK today. I have never seen RD there and we can walk over from BLT. We will meander through MK and when we want to leave , go back to the hotel. Our ADR is at 8 pm at O’Hana. New for both of us. (do they give you a lei? Or is that just the Luau?) I call today our day to stay around the monorail. Or staying near “home”.
Friday Nov 11: 11/11/11 - we wanted to do something special for this. I suggested a picture at 11:11 in front of the castle but DH came up with something mind-blowing! All four parks with pics in front of each main thing.
So - first up is RD at AK and a pic in front of the Tree of Life, maybe a quick ride for DH on EE or us on the safari. Then off to DHS for our 11:30 am ressie at HBD for Dine with an Imagineer. And a pic in front of the Hat. The Dine with an Imagineer takes probably a good 3 hours so not much time for anything else in this park. Then off to Epcot for pic with SE (the golf ball). After all this we head back to MK - which we have tickets to MVMCP and get a pic with the castle. After MVMCP is over all we have to do is walk back to BLT. A lot of traveling. We are going to be exhausted! (I am already just writing about it!)
Up next: Weekend wind down
