Cheaper by the Dozen – Lukas’ 1st Birthday Extravaganza! - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Yay, you started!!! I am sure once you get down there, Dylan will recognize things from his last trip. He is going to have so much fun at almost 4 years old. Sam is now 40.25 inches tall and this past April got to ride Soarin for the first time, LOVED IT!
So are your parents, brother and sil staying in the 2 bedroom with you? I bet its going to be great having club level with a group, to take advantage of the goodies back at the room! Will those staying in the value room be able to go with you to the lounge?

Just found your PTR. Wow, that's quite a crowd to celebrate Lukas 1st birthday!! Can't wait to hear all about your plans and amybe read your wonderful countdown facts.
I so hope we can meet some day. I think it was supposed to be that way next may, but we had to push our dates back a bit because of all the points this vacation is taking.
.
Yeah, we decided to go in the fall of next year instead of May. I want to see the new Fantasyland and hoping if we go in late Oct early Nov we can see it. And just maybe Andre would be potty trained......wishful thinking. So I hope there might be a nice bounceback offer when we are there in Oct this year.......again, wishful thinking

Dylan is about the same height and I'm hoping he's brave enough to ride some rides.
Yes, my family (ie - Mom, Dad, brother, Becki) will be in the 2 bedroom with our family of 4. Club level was also a nice thing to convince my brother to come along. I'm assuming we'll bring them up or bring them treats.

You better do a head count several times a day with that crowd!
No kidding! I'm only going to worry about my children - the rest are on their own.

OK, now I'll have to come up with something so as to not disappoint. I did a countdown, but not like my usual ones.

Well now I don't feel bad for missing you! We may go again in late August next year - DH wants to go to the SW convention, but we haven't decided when to go in 2013 yet.

Crissy I'm so glad you jumped over here to read this! We miss you around here!
I'm bummed we'll miss you by such a short time, but hopefully I can see you early next year for a very special event!
Friday night we had dinner & a movie where we watched Wall-E.
Saturday morning I took Dylan to see Cars 2. He said he liked it and I enjoyed it as well. It seemed over his head and he did get antsy a bit, but stuck it out. The sequel was more adult than the first for sure. Then that night my Mom & I met Cindy (cindybelle) at the Muny (local outdoor theater) for dinner and the Little Mermaid. It was such fun! Cindy took the photos so I'll see if we can get them posted here.
I already posted on FB that I love your tattoo, but I wanted to tell you again here. I've been wanting to get a small mickey or minnie head on the top of my foot, but I'm a chicken. I have a dolphin tattoo on the right side of my back, but the whole foot+bones=pain thing has put an end to that idea.
So, if I wasnt so flippin scared of needles that would be a tatoo I'd want!! wow! I love it! I always wanted to get one right above the bikini line of the mickey head or something like that. Sooo jealous but hopefully I will get to see that in person like you said (YAY Btw...i hope you get to go should be such fun!!)
So, I am loving this disneyfied weekend you had! Its very cool...the little mermaid thing I reallllly wish we had stuff like that here!
BTW...wall-e is our fave!! absolute fave and Eric is harassing me to see Cars 2 so glad to hear adults will it!!
BTW,,,,,I've really missed posting on here but i'm going to try to be more diligent because I really miss it!
Love your tattoo!!! I wish I was less of a chicken in that department!! May be something to think about if and when I decide if I am having another child or not. My cousin just got a dragon fly on the top of her foot and she said that it did hurt but not as bad as she was expecting, she was able to tolerate it.

Thanks again Melissa! I have a sun on the small of my back, but I got it when I was 18, and wasn't all too painful - even for being on my spine. This one was a little more painful. I think the walking effects it more too. Today it feels like a bad sunburn.

2 posts in 2 days! Whoohoo!
That would be a cute tatoo. There was a lady that came in when I was there and she backed out after just getting a dot basically. She started crying and everything, so it's a good idea if you don't think you can handle it to probably not do it.
I think Eric & you would really enjoy Cars. Mike gets to take Dylan to see Winnie the Pooh - kind of backwards, but we're following Dylan's orders.
Hope to see you in February and more around here!

If you can handle childbirth you can handle a tattoo. Everyone keeps asking how many more heads I'm going to need.
