Dairy Farmers wife is getting a "Dream" trip! - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Like reading what you are planning. I am also a planner, so it drives me crazy when I have to wait to book things. CAuse I want them booked and over with so I can move on.
EXACTLY. My DH likes to be so last minute. He thinks that you could wait till the day before and then book a trip on a cruise or to Disney. He doesn't get the planning part at all.

If the ship backs in, like I hear it usually does, we will have a great view from our balcony! (These pictures of the ship and room, and CC are all borrowed from the internet at this point and time, since I have yet to go myself)
I am excited to finally see this island. Claire has been wanting to visit a beach too, so this will be it for her!
Again, at this point we are just going to wing it. No excursions planned. Just frolic and play and enjoy the beach, and laze around.
Perhaps we'll check Claire into the kids club on the island for a bit too.
I also want to try to get some of the pictures I see in others reports and also find characters...like Captian Jack.
Also we'll be sure to have lunch at Cookies. Which now there is a Second cookies with the new expansion, so which ever we are closest too.
It sounds like they have some activities planned thoughout the day too, so maybe we'll watch some of that.
I'm sure we'll be nice and sandy when go back to the ship, so we'll shower and get ready for our 7PM show, ( new reports are now saying that the show times are changed and only 2 shows are being shown. So we may have to be ready for the show as early as 6:15) which I think is called Believe. Then on to dinner.
I'll also have to get us packed up and set our luggage outside the door (and remember to keep enough out for the next morning). So sad, it's our last night on the ship.
This will be Claire's dinner dress
Hopefully we won't party too late, as we will have to be up bright and early the next morning to get breakfast and disembark.

We absolutely adore Residence Inn and have stayed there every time we cruise, which we have gone 3 times now and working on planning our fourth.
We normally eat breakfast and then head over in our car and park in the lots as we have not found the shuttles to be that great AND we leave directly from the parking lot and start driving home. We hope this next time to fly into MCO and go to WDW for day or two, then drive over in rental, am curious how it works out for you all. We normally dirve from hotel at 9:30 am so we are there early and get into one of the first boarding groups, we ahve been group 4, 7 and 11 in the past
Love reading your trip report so far!

Sounds like you all deserve this trip, you definitely have had quite a year. Loved "meeting" your family. Your plans look amazing!!!
On top of all the problems, Skips brother broke his leg about 2 weeks ago. He is Skips business partner, so one has to be here at all times. WE were worried that Skip might not be able to go. But at this point and time he is still planning on coming.

WE do have a few more days in Orlando though, so even though it will be sad getting off the ship, there is more to look forward to.

Thanks for your info. I hope the shuttle works OK for us. I just know that if we go too early, Skip will get jumpy, and Claire might get board too. I also heard that for several of the Dream cruises, some people haven't even been allowed in the terminal too early, so I don't want to hassle with standing outside too. WE'll just go wit the flow, and hopefully the flow goes with us!
Great plans so far!! I'm so glad to see a trip report for the Disney Cruise and I can't wait to read all you posts!
We have done 2 Disney cruises and I'll share a few tips.
1) check the daily Navigator for show times and character meet times. The characters meet all over the ship and on Castaway Cay too! And in different outfits too so you could have Sailor Mickey, Pirate Mickey, Tuxedo Mickey, and Bathing Suit Mickey!
2) Pirate night is a blast! Don't forget to get up on the pool deck after your second seating dinner to see the show and fireworks!
3)Nassau is pretty dirty. I wouldn't get off the boat unless you have an excursion planned. If Claire likes the dolphins, we found the Dolphin Encounter to be a good value. The price wasn't too bad and you got in the water and interacted with the dolphins. It wasn't actually swimming with the dolphins but all in all a very good value - I'd do it again.
4) Water and soda is all free on board and on CC so I wouldn't worry too much about bringing water on. The beer, however, would be good to bring along. We brought in a suitcase of Bud and kept some on ice in one of the sinks. My daughter is older than Claire, but she had a blast going up to the pool deck and getting ice to refill the sink.
5) How old is Claire? My daughter was 8 on our first cruise and she LOVED the kids club!! She stayed until closing every night! It was a nice break for my husband and I. We went to the clubs each night and enjoyed some alone time.
I hope you have a great trip and I look forward to reading all about it!!
