Just call us Holly, Heidi and Honey - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great start Jill! In the photo of you with the Martini the building in the background gives you a "crown." I guess you've progressed from "President" to "Queen"!!!

What a nice background story about the ladies that you work with Jill. It sounds like they are very caring people and you're a wonderful friend to find the time to go along on the trip I'm looking forward to hearing more.
Shopping and Martinis. Is there a better way to start a trip? Sounds wonderful!

This TR is like a bonus. I just finished your last TR and here were are with another one to enjoy. What a great start and so glad that you were able to work out all those incedentials and get to enjoy the well laid out plans that you had made for Ramona.
Love the pics so far, what a great idea to spend the night in St. Augustine (so you were really not lying to the girls - just leaving out some details...LOL)
I think your idea works much better, I decided to tell Angel the truth that I am going for my friends birthday in February and that we are going to WDW, but that she has her Halloween October trip to be excited about. Not a great idea because she has already laid in the guilt. Her exact words...." how can you go to "our place" without me". Yes the guilt has already worked because I just booked a surprise trip for her birthday in August - I think the cheaper route would have been I was going to a conference in Orlando
Can't wait to hear more especailly about your Sunset Safari Surprise.

By the time that my call with my girls was finished, the ladies had rejoined me and Collage had opened. This was a gorgeous little restaurant in a historical building (you really didn’t see any new construction in St.Augustine ). We were in the front room which had a low beamed ceiling and beautiful salmon colored walls. Carol had apparently found us the best fine dining restaurant in St. Augustine.
I started out with a goat cheese salad and then had a scallop and shrimp pasta dish for my entrée. In between the courses, we had a mango sorbet palate cleanser which was delicious in itself. We rounded out our meal with a lovely bottle of pinot gris, but we decided to wait until later for more of a non-traditional dessert.
After our fantastic meal, we walked around the corner to our next appointment - - a walking ghost tour with the Sheriff. We waited about 15 minutes for another party that never showed, so we ended up with a private tour.
The tour itself was really not that scary, but the Sheriff was a hoot. He was an amazing storyteller with a theatrical voice and the driest sense of humor. The tour lasted about 1 and ½ hours and the time flew by. The funny thing was that we came across several other ghost tours that had 10 or 15 people in tow. We all felt rather special to have our own private tour.
Near the end of the tour, the Sheriff told us that a ghost, Sally, had been following us throughout our tour. He told us that she was going to pick the most beautiful one at the end of the tour. Hmmm . . . now how is this going to work?
When we returned to our original meeting spot, the Sheriff lead us to an alcove and told us to stand side-by-side with our eyes closed and our arms stretched out in front of us (Ramona informed us later that she had quickly done a scan of the area to make sure that no one was going to jump out of the dark and get us while we had our eyes closed! ) We then had to clasp our hands and stick our index fingers out but not touching (pretty much how you’re holding your hands when you’re simulating a gun . . . i.e. think Charlie’s Angels ).
The Sheriff told us that Sally would push the index fingers together of the one whom she thought the most beautiful. I wasn't really holding out much hope that this was going to work, but before I knew it, my fingers were touching! Weird!
The Sheriff announced that Sally had made her decision. My fingers had closed first with Ramona coming in a close second. Carol was standing there wondering what in the world had happened. The Sheriff gave Ramona and myself these big gawdy plastic rings as our prizes from Sally. The most hilarious thing was how seriously he appeared to take it. Carol, on the other hand, began referring to Sally as the $itch!
After we told the Sheriff goodbye, Ramona and I had Carol reenact the finger game. I immediately saw what had happened when I saw how far apart Carol was holding her fingers. When we showed her we had only held our fingers about an inch apart thus allowing them to close on their own (it’s amazing how your fingers will automatically close on their own when you hold them about an inch apart ), she felt better about the whole situation but she still thought Sally a $itch! Oh Lord, we got a good laugh over that.
Now, it was dessert time. While we were still enjoying our martini at the Tini Martini bar earlier that day, we had decided to try the chocolate martinis for our dessert after our ghost tour. Luckily, our favorite table was available, so we were soon back in our original spot sipping delicious (and strong) chocolate martinis. It was a perfect ending to a perfect day.
Thankfully our hotel was literally next door because we were highly slap happy by the time that we had finished our drinks. We were going to get up before the sun the next morning, so I went ahead and took my shower that night. Before long, we were all snuggled in and sleeping which didn’t take long after our full day!
