The "We either need more Motrin or less kids' Trip report, August - Sept 2010 - UPDATED 11/7: Final Day - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great view from your room and the window decorations are cute too.
Glad you got a nap in before dinner.

Tuesday Aug 24, MK in the morning, Epcot in the evening.
I awoke this morning full of excitement. We were in Disney, I was awake before everyone else, and I was going to see Cinderella this morning. I slipped on some shorts and a T-shirt and made my morning walk to the food court for coffee. This has kind of become my tradition. I wake up before everyone else and get a mug full of coffee and walk around the resort. It is so peaceful and relaxing. I took a walk on the bridge, then revisited the other sections of the resort we've stayed in before. Reliving and reminiscing on some of the good times and memories I have here. This puts me in a good frame of mind to face a day I know will make more good memories . After a refill of my mug it was time to head back to the room and rally the troops. My wardrobe selection of the day was my dark blue shirt I made with a couple pictures of Cindrella with the caption: "I do believe it's Cinderella time!" Then it was off to the Magic Kingdom. We drove which was actually kind of a mistake because it is actually quicker to take the bus by the time you stop at the TTC and take the boat or monorail. We arrived and walked down main street and stopped for some pictures in front of the castle. It was finally beginning to sink in. "We were really here!" We saved and sacrificied all year and we were reaping the benefits of all that. Wooo Hooo! We headed for Space Mountain first as it was closed last Summer when we were here and the kids were rather anxious. We got on without much wait and enjoyed our ride. Like the new ride photo you can get. Wish you could put it on your photopass though. After that the crowd was starting to form for the opening of Toontown. We headed that way as we wanted to be among the first in line to see Tinker bell. Liz just loves the beat down I take from her. She usually just puts me right in my place and Liz just loves it. We were there right when they started letting people in and were among the first to see her. We saw Fawn, Tinkerbell and Terrence. We saw Fawn first and she was her usual perky self:
Tinkerbell saw the kids first and they must have said something she thought was pretty funny:
Then it was Liz's turn.
Liz was kind if disappointed in our visit. Claimed Tink didn't give me a hard enough time. All I know is I still remember getting laughed at and her suggesting she write on my face with the marker rather than sign an autograph book. I kind of thought I got enough of a hard time from the little green fairy but if Liz was disappointed I vowed to try harder next time to give Tink reason to give me a hard time. (Turns out later in the trip I didn't really need to but that's a story for a later installment.) This is all I'm gonna say about this encounter with Tink but I'm sure Liz will have more when she weighs in. How do you like Liz's shirt? I made that one too. I'm sure she was hoping Tink would love it. it says "Soooo not a princess!"
Now it was time to meet Terrence. Brendan was the real hit here as Terrence loved Brendan's long hair. I couldn't find a decent picture of this so we'll have to wait for the photopass CD to arrive to post one of those, but in the meantime:
Now it was on to see the Princesses! My favorite time! I had my shirt with me for them to sign. It was a picture of all the princesses in Toontown gathered around me and Liz on our trip last January that we took to celebrate our first anniversary early. I put the caption on:"Look what a little Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo can do!" I showed it to Cinderella and she was very impressed. I told her my story of what she meant to me and the role she played in Liz and I becoming engaged and she got goosebumps. She was honored to sign it first. Ahhhh first meeting with Cinderella on this trip was a success!
Next it was on to see Belle. She gave Brendan a few pointers on becoming a prince. Had her sign the shirt as well.
Next was Aurora. She was great with the kids and was excited to sign my very special shirt as well. She seemed to be an especially friendly and beautiful Aurora:
Is it my imagination or is she kind of winking at me in that above picture? Aurora would also play a bigger role in our vacation a little later in the trip. Stay tuned for the details. (I love dropping hints and foreshadowing!) See ya soon Princess Aurora!:
Next it was on to ride the Barnstormer until it started to rain, then it was on to see Mickey:
With all the characters properly greeted and the rain letting up we headed to the other sections of the park. We rode Mickey's Philharmagic,( still love it) Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder Mountain, and Splash Mountain. It seemed Splash got us wetter than usual this time. Ask Liz (Snicker!) I picked up this really neat Blue shell necklace (Cinderella blue!) at one of the shops. Bummer that It's a Small World was closed. Then it was on around to Pirates of the Caribbean and we actually caught Jack Sparrows Pirate Tutorial and the kids went up on stage to pariticipate. Very cool!
By now it was mid day snack time and you know what that means!! That's right DOLE WHIP FLOAT!!!! oooh it hit the spot. First Dole Whip of the trip. Yummy. Then we saw Jordan's favorite princess Ariel with Prince Eric in the meet 'n greet right by the Dole Whip stand so we got in line. Now this was the first of several really special moments in this vacation where I got singled out. We were next in line and Ariel looked at me, saw my shirt smiled and actually left Prince Eric and started walking toward me to get a closer look at my shirt. I did not see her come up as I was getting my camera ready to take a picture of her and Jordan when I turned around and there she was!
She asked me all about this shirt with her good friend Cinderella on it, and remarked on my Cinderella blue necklace and everything. She liked it too because it was made of shells, and my shirt was a dark blue color like the sea. It was just a very cool moment. Here are a few pictures of this surprise encounter:
I was honestly not going to be in these pictures at all, but thanks to the kindness of a princess. <<Hmmmm Mental note to self: That could be a good line for next trip: "I have always relied on the kindness of Princesses!" yea That's good stuff!>>
After this it was back to the room for a refreshing dip in the pool then it was on to Epcot and Coral Reef for dinner. Love Love Love Coral Reef! I think it has steak to rival even Le Cellier. Very good experience. After that it was getting dark so we rode Spaceship Earth and took some pictures on the way out. The end of a fantastic day!
Tomorrow: The studios, and 50's Primetime with a waittress who snarled at us all meal for elbows on the table, spilling stuff and being high maintenance but pretty much fell in love with one of us. Who would it be? Liz? Jordan? Brendan? Cheyenne? Victoria? or L'il ol me? Nahhh it couldn't be me, could it?? And later: more special attention from princesses, and Princess Aurora makes her presence felt again! Stay tuned!
