As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I can't stinkin' believe I missed you by one lousy day! (Of course, once I got to the conference, I pretty much never left the Dolphin the whole time...)
YEAH!!! Another Sharon TR!!! The room is AWESOME! Just beautiful! Your pic of the lighthouse was great! Well all of your pics are great!!! My son wants a camera, I might just have to get him one likes yours and then I can use it too! Sounds like you had a great first day! Cant wait for more, your TR's always have me laughing so hard my stomach hurts!!!

Yeah - another trip report! I have to say, I'm a little bit (okay a lot bit) green with envy over all your trips ! Your photos are fantatic -- your room looks so pretty. I have the same problem with the lens fogging up going from a/c to outside. Drives me nuts because I've missed some good shots because of it.
Another TR with more of the wonderful photos to steal a well known phrase - I'm lovin' it. What a way to pass these last few days before we leave. I can't wait to hear more (hint, hint ) before I leave.

Great day!
What type of room is that? I've never seen one with a sink area in the room itself. And the new decor is really nice. Love the bedding and the tv on the wall.
I don't know! I booked a standard room. Perhaps it's a deluxe room? Not sure, though!

I guess we'd get along well because I crack up from reading stuff online all the time! Or sometimes just from thinking about stuff! Trust me, I've gotten a look or two in the past.

Oh well!
I LOVE your room! Is that at the BC? I've never stayed there, but don't remember the colors being that pretty from the pictures. Were the rooms renovated?
The rooms have been renovated since my last stay there. I don't know if they've completely finished, though.

I bet she was thrilled that you crashed the party! You sure packed in a lot of TOT rides for one day... and I have a hunch those aren't the last of the trip. Looking forward to your next update!
And I have another trip or three coming up this year! Next year will be more reasonable (though I said that last year, didn't I? )

I have a Canon, too, but never noticed where the color accent thingy is. Is it possible to explain where it is?
OK, since a lot of people seem to be interested, I'll explain. I can't guarantee that it works this way on every Canon, but it's close enough that you'd be able to figure it out (unless, unlike me, you want to read the manual ).
Your camera should have a setting like "SCN" or something. Choose that.
Scroll through the choices until you get to the color accent feature (it's usually one of the last ones). It looks like a little eyedropper with an A next to it.
Press the DISP button
A little box should appear on your LCD screen
Center that box over the color you want to accent
Press < (the left side) on your scroll wheel to choose that color
Click away
It's a little tricky only because it takes a while to get used to the process. But once you get set up, you just shoot like normal.

For me, laughter is definitely contagious! If I'm in a group and everyone starts laughing, I can't help but laugh myself, even though I don't know what's funny! My friends used to do that to me all the time and then ask me what was funny. When I'd say I didn't know, they'd laugh even harder. Rinse and repeat. Good times!

I love the pictures - glad the park wasn't overly crowded!
I had the same "tour guide" on GMR - she's very nice and funny.
Can't wait to read more
I talked all about the gangster and didn't mention the tour guide at all. She was good!

Cam, I love my camera more with every photo I take! It's perfect for me because I like to point and shoot and not think about it too much, and this camera (a Canon S90 for those interested) gives great results. Even on "auto" setting!

I like the rooms at the BC better than the BCV too! And Kate Haters Unite!

I hope we get a gangster like him when we ride the GMR in a few days.

I'd also like to know a bit more about the color option. My camera's a Canon, but I'm wondering if it might be too old.
It was hot! But I didn't expect any different in July! And check your camera! The last 4 Canons I've had have had that feature, so even older models may have it.

Yes, bad timing. But it's probably good I wasn't around, because I would've tried to convince you to play hooky!

I am a huge fan of Canon cameras, so that would be my recommendation.

Keeping it in my pocket in the a/c helped a lot. It didn't happen again after I did that. But that just may be a coincidence.

I hate to say it, but I doubt it. I won't get another update up today. I've just had too much going on to get the next batch of photos ready. Maybe tomorrow!

Thanks for the tip on Canon cameras. I think I found the setting, now I just need to refine it. Hope I'm doing it correctly!
Now - on with the show!
I did manage to squeeze a lot of fun into a quick weekend trip. Hitting the parks early always helps. Plus I avoided them during the busiest midday hours, so I was able to enjoy the BC, too!

Now this makes me laugh! I'm quite sure you find humor in most things (good and bad), Sharon and that is the way it should be.
Great trip report and photos and I must run home now and check my Canon's SCN mode as I loved those pictures. More, please!

Yay, another P-Sha TR. Your room is absolutely beautiful. Great pictures too. I had the same gangster in July also. He was hilarious. I think we rode the GMR a total of 6 times because my boys love it so much. They could literally work the ride since they know all the words. Anyway, can't wait to read more about your trip.
Jill! Although in fairness, Jill had only a carryon size bag, and only took the boat from the WL to the Contemporary. There were no parks or buses involved.
OMG! That made me snort! I actually had a DVC canvas bag, a toiletry bag and a Minnie Mouse suitcase . Surprisingly enough, I wasn't the only one with large items on our boat. One guy had a very large cooler which intrigued me to no end.
