The Whole Family? My Poconos Trip Report UPDATED 8/2 - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Ahhh, so I finally found time to sit down and type my first update for this TR. We've been so busy packing for the move, negotiating offers and cleaning up around here that I haven't had any free time! We're waiting to hear if a buyer accepts our counter offer and we'll hear back by 4 so keep your fingers crossed!
I woke up around 6:30 so that I could finish some odds and ends packing such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, food for the road, etc. I ate a light breakfast of Greek yogurt and granola. Everyone else woke up around 7:15 and ate their breakfasts. My mom and I had to take my dog Bailey to the vet to get some shots. Long story... we took Bailey to the kennel and they said he needed some shots to be accepted. So we called the vet and asked if we could squeeze Bailey in for a quick appointment for 3 shots. The lady at the desk must've been in a really bad mood. We knew that you had to call 2 weeks ahead for shot appointments, but 2 weeks ago, we didn't even know he needed his shots. The grouchy lady yelled into the phone all kinds of crap about "you can't get in because you didnt call 2 weeks ago" and "you should know that by now" and I'M SORRY THERE'S NOTHING WE CAN DO!!" and "you know what? I'm putting you on the phone with the manager". My mom was talking and I was listening (we had her on speakerphone). I was blown away by the lack of respect that the lady was giving us. We explained our situation to the manager and he went to the computer, saw that there was a cancellation in an hour and filled it with our name. No yelling, no problems and he was a whole lot nicer than cranky lady. So we took Bailey in, got his 3 shots and headed to the kennel. We dropped him off, updated his shot records and left!! It was that easy! My mom and I headed home, put all the suitcases in the trunk, got everyone all in the car and buckeled in and we were on our way to Woodloch at 11:26!! Temperature at our house: 75 degrees. It was a torturous 4 hour ride but once we got into the Pocono area, it went alot faster. And the view was nicer. But first, we made a Wendys stop in a small town where the only other store was "Happy Quaky Ice Cream" We finally pulled in the parking lot at Woodloch Pines Resort at 3:06. My dad and 10 year old brother headed over to check in while my mom, 7 year old brother and me unloaded the suitcases. We were assigned to room 315 in the Timberline section. It was so spacious and layed out absolutely perfect. That's when we knew we were coming back here again! There was 2 queen beds and a tv. But there's more. A divider comes out of the wall and reveals 2 single beds!! So we all get our own bed! My parents slept in 1 queen, I slept in 1 queen and each of my bros got a single bed. We received a phone call from my aunt saying that they were all waiting for us down at the outdoor pool. SO we suited up and started walking to the outdoor pool. Little did we know that we would run into someone else that I know...

What a nighmare with the vets - glad you got it sorted.
Lots of for the offer.
The buyers accepted our offer and want to settle right after our settlement!! So that is great! And yes the vet drama was not the way we wanted to start off our vacation.

Everything is going smoothly so far with our house.
As we were heading down to the pool, I ran across someone sitting in a pool chair that looked ever so familiar. I looked a little closer and it was my 3rd grade teacher!!!!! I ran over to say hello. I was so excited because I haven't seen her in such a long time! She told us that they were staying at the same resort (well, obviously) at the same week!!!!!! So I would be seeing alot of her and her family. It was nice to see her again. We chatted for a while then decided that I shouldn't keep the family waiting any longer. I walked over and saw my grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins and 2nd cousins waiting for me. I went over, said my hellos, then was forced to go in the cold water pool with my cousins! So I sat on the edge of the pool and told them that that was all the farther I was going in. But apparently, that wasn't good enough for them because the pushed me in! I was freezing cold and had to keep going under the water to stay warm. I noticed an indoor pool so I went inside to see if that was warmer. And OMG it was so much warmer in there than it was in the 65 degree outdoor pool!!! So I rounded everyone up and told them to come inside. We sat in the hot tub a little then got in the indoor pool and played the color game. The color game is a game where one person holds another person in their arms in the pool and thinks of a color. Once they think of the color, the person in their arms has to guess the color. BUt if they don't get it right, the person holding them has to dunk them under the water. IDK why but my cousins and brothers that game!!! It seems painful to me!!! THe boys decided that they wanted me to take them to the indoor splash zone. SO we went in there a little bit. It was little tiny slides, some squirt fountains and a waterfall type thing. I think the boys started to realize that it was intended for babies and toddlers and decided to go back to the indoor pool. We played the color game some more and then got out to get ready for dinner. Sorry that there's still no pictures but we left the camera in the room when we went to the pool. We headed to the main dining room for dinner. TOnight was a buffet with so many different foods on it that I had to make 3 trips!!!! Here's one of my plates...
Shrimp and a salad. I also had fried shrimp, chicken fingers, fruit, deviled eggs () Ceasar Salad rice pudding and probably a whole lot more!!!! My dessert was strawberry jello with fruit.
The fruit on this whole trip was not very good.. I don't know what it was about it but it was nasty. But somehow I kept ordering it..... Now here's something that I adored. Our view was AMAZING!!!!!! We were the same table all week due to the size of our family. and this view was to die for!
This is Lake Teedyuskong (I think that's how you spell that ) Isn't that view just amazing???!!!! Also, we had the same waitress all week. Her name was Lauren and she was so patient with our large family and just couldn't be better. Thanks Lauren! When we left the restaurant, Winnie the Pooh was standing in the lobby posing for pics. We wanted to say hi but we were running late for the illusionist show.

Tonight there was 2 shows. The first one was an illusionist named Jay Mattiolli (you might know him from America's Got Talent?) This show was so neat. Some of his tricks were absolutly mind blowing. Once, he put his assitant on top of a sword and she was balanced on top and then it looked like the sword went right through her (or did it??) A couple times, my cousin leaned over and whispered in my ear "this is all an illuuuuuuusion!" It was so cute. THen he asked for a volunteer from the audience and leave it to my brother to stick his hand up and get picked to come up on stage! When he got up there, Jay had him introduce himself to the audience. Then he put a jacket on it but instead of my brothers arms going through the sleeves, Jay's arms went through!! Then he beagan doing some magic tricks while whispering instructions to my brother such as blow on this or stomp your foot. It looked like my brother was doing the magic tricks but Jay Mattiolli was actually doing them. Then the highlight of our night happened. Jay began taking out wigs and hats and putting them on my brothers head. Oh, and the music was playing cool dancing tracks such as YMCA and I like to Move it. At one point, he put a wig of dreadlocks and a beanie on my brother which was hilarious because my brother is soooo skinny! Then Jay told him to stomp his feet and make an "O" shape with his mouth! They were playing I like to move it and I was laughing so hard I was half crying. My cousin was stretched across 4 chairs laughing so hard and my whole family was in tears. When my brother came back off stage, he started crying because he didn't even know what everyone was laughing at because he couldn't see what was on his head. And he thought we were laughing at him! After this show, we walked into the lobby and purchased 2 autographed pics of Jay Mattiolli and a magic trick that was used in the show. Then we went back into the stage area for the ventrilaquist show. I can't remember what his name was but he had a bit more mature humor. He started the show with a few magic tricks and again, asked for a volunteer. And my COUSIN stuck his hand up and got picked. This trick wasn't quite as funny but I think he was a bit scared. The guy had 4 eggs layed out and he asked my cousin to pick out the one he thought had the yolk inside. He picked one just randomly and the guy held it over his head and cracked it! Luckly, it had no yolk inside and shells fell on his head. Poor kid thought he would have egg yolk on his head! The same thing happened until there were no more eggs left. So none of the eggs had yolk in them and my poor cousin thought he was going to end up eggy! But it was pretty funny. So 2 members of our family were in the show and 1 more is about to come. But unfortunatly I don't have time to keep it going. I will hopefully have the rest of this thread posted by tomorrow night.
