left with 2 good ones came back with one-trip report-forgot something 5/8 - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Another great update! We are trying the Cape May breakfast for the first time this coming June. I hope the lines aren't too confusing then. I Ride the Comix and I've also beaten Luke at it.

Day Three: Today was the day my MIL was joining us .. She flies stand by so she really had no idea what time she would be joining us. We had plans to go to Typhoon Lagoon & told her to call us when she got to POFQ & we'd see her after our water adventure.
We had no breakfast scheduled either as we wanted to sleep in a little. We got up had some coffee & then headed over to Typhoon Lagoon.
We had previously visited Blizzard Beach but had never been to Typhoon Lagoon. It wasn't very busy when we arrived & we were able to secure some beach loungers right by the wave pool.
The first thing we did was head to the wave pool. Now, my sister-in-law runs the concession at our local county wave pool & Jamie, Brendan & I work there over the Summer so I figured the wave pool at TL was similar.
We jumped in & swam out to the 5foot area (which is our normal at 'our' wave pool) we heard the horn go off to signal the waves & when we saw that massive MONSTER heading towards us poor Shelby looked as if she had seen a ghost.. she & I took off swimming & running toward the shallow end while the monster wave kept pounding on us.. I alternated between laughing hysterically & being frightened. Finally I got to a point where I was able to stand & the waves were still knocking me over. Shelby reached me & said she had lost her sunglasses in the wave hit.. we proceeded back & were able to find them undamaged.
At this point, Jim reached us & he too was laughing. We took a video & photos & sent them to Jamie, Brendan & my SIL.. showing them these were 'real' waves not those sissy waves at the wave pool back home.
Jim & Shelby then meandered off to ride Crush & Gusher,, I was going to ride but chickened out. We've got some cool photo pass photos of them on Crush & Gusher. i'll share once I get my CD back from WDW. There was virtually no line for Crush & Gusher so Jim & Shelby rode it several times.
They went off & did all of the other slides at the park, again with virtually no lines. We decided to relax by the pool ...
Of course, Shelby was still texting her friends back home..
Even Jim couldn't put his Droid down to relax....
finally...
but notice her cell phone is still in her hand!!
Around noon we had seen & done everything at TL. Jim's mom called & told us she was in Orlando & was heading to DME.
WE left Typhoon Lagoon & the bus was empty except for a family of 4. I wasn't really paying attention to what they were saying but Jim bent over & whispered that he thought the girl was a PassPorter member as when she saw my Passholder pouch she commented to her DH that she had to get her PassPorter off her friend.
She did strike up a conversation as she was getting DME in 20 minutes & was worried about making it, I told her that the bus was dropping off at POR first & she'd have plenty of time to make it to DME.
HA!! the bus driver stopped at all of the stops at POR then was heading back to DTD.. The family looked panicked when I told them he wasn't stopping at POFQ. The Dad asked the bus driver if the bus doesn't stop at POFQ & the driver said "Oh darn!! I forgot" The family was starting to panic & I told them to ask the bus driver to please contact the front desk & ask them to hold DME for them. The bus driver said he couldn't because his microphone wasn't working. Instead of turning around & taking us to POFQ, he drove all the way back to DTD & stopped at the West Side.. he got out of the bus & told his replacement that he had to take "these people back to FQ".. he seemed 'put out' at this. Now I wasn't on a time crunch so it didn't matter to me but the family was frantic & the bus drivers attitude didn't help any.. He was very unconcerned & seemed angry at US. THe Mom finally called someone & asked them to please hold DME for them.
He took us back to POFQ & did drop the family off at DME ( which was waiting). I looked out the window & the family must have been traveling with another family (or meeting them there) b/c they were hugging & saying goodbye.
He dropped us off at the bus depot & before we got off he stood up & said "I'm sorry but if you want to complain, this is bus #49" I was taken aback at his attitude.
We stopped off at our room.. Have I mentioned how I loved our room location??close to the bus and the food court! WE got our refillable mugs then went to the food court for a bite to eat.
Shelby got a chicken caesar salad, I got a muffleta sandwich & Jim got chicken parmesan. The one thing I didn't like about the food court is they had no bottles of diet soda.. I had intended to buy sodas for the room on our dining plan & use the refillable mugs to eat with, I guess we could have gone over to the general store & got the pops but didn't feel like it.
While we were eating I told Shelby to go check in the lobby if MIL was there yet. She came back & told us Yes Grandma was in line.. Shelby went to wait with MIL & then she came & she too got a chicken caesar salad... (She was also on the deluxe dining plan)
she was tired as she had been up at 3am to get to the airport so she headed to her room (I think it was 4319) & we all took a nap before going to Epcot for the evening.
Great fun at TL! I remember my first experience with that wave, too. We belonged to a pool club in town that had a wave pool, so I thought I knew what to expect, but I did not. Stefanie who was 10 and I were pulled under, but a guy quickly pulled us both up as I wasn't letting go of her for dear life. We moved way back to the edge of the pool.
Our Server was also inattentive.. I told her it was our first time using the dining plan at a TS & she said there was nothing to do.. it was all on the card. She took our card & when she brought back our receipts I realized I was supposed to leave the tip on the FIRST receipt she had given me (with the prices etc) I had planned on putting all of the tips on the RC but when I asked she told me she couldn't run it again. Luckily, Jim had cash on hand so we were able to tip her with that,., it did teach us quickly how to use DDP.
Wow, I'm really sorry to hear that.
Our first TS on a DDP was in AK, the buffet at Tusker House ("Donald Duck's Breakfast Safari"), and our server was bright, cheerful, friendly, helpful, informative, and even quite funny. (When DGF asked her ewhere the nearest restroom was, she started out saying "well, you go ou tthat door over there, and head left. At the big tree, take a right, and it's about five doors down" ... really had us going, I swear my jaw must have been in my lap and my eyebrows went past my hairline!)
Anyway, making sure you knew where to put the tip, really, was in the servers own best interest. I'm not sure I'd've tipped in cash (or at all) were I in your shoes.

Walked right on Monsters Inc .. This was the first time Jim had seen it & he was laughing so hard ( he LOVES corny!!) Shelby looked over at me & whispered "This truly is a magical place, look how happy Dad is"
Yes, the Laugh Floor is awesome. And, I <3 your DD's comment, by the way; saying that reflects at least as well on her as it does on Disney. Truly.
Great report so far! I am really glad to hear you loved Cape May, we have ressies there in September and I was hoping it was as good as it sounds. My husband and I crab legs!

Can't wait to hear more.
You will love it! the crab legs were so sweet & so hot!! It seemed every time I went up to the buffet they were loading a fresh batch into the bin..
It was probably my favorite meal of the trip..you'll have to let me know how you like it!
Sounds like you're all having so much fun! My boys learned to surf in the wave pool at TL. They offer early morning lessons. I'll have to find a pic to post for you. Loved the video. Come back soon with more!
