Recruiting Fans for PassPorter Street Teams! - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'd be interested in spreading the word in my community - I already do!
I was quoted a couple of times in a newsletter, and the 2008 version of the Passporter. I'm now awaiting my 2010 copy to use for our trip in two weeks!
Please let me know if I qualify. I'm in Central Massachusetts - about 30 miles west of Boston.

I would also love to help spread the word on the streets for y'all!! I buy Passporter every year! We go to Disney every spring break. Usually the 1st week in March. We stay at the Grand Floridian. All of my friends and family know they can come to me to help them plan their vacation. All I do is get out my old and new passporter books and we start planning.
My children go to one of the largest private schools in the U.S. We love going to Disney in large groups. I always ask the families if they have their passporter so we can get to planning.
I also do alot in my community. I'm very good friends with the employees at Barnes and Noble in my area and could pass things out there also. Passing out post cards or any other items would be an honor. I would love to pass along the knowledge of your awesome book!
So I will leave you with this PICK ME! PICK ME! PICK ME!!!
One more thing we are counting down until our March trip! I will be in the Disney Princess Half Marathon!!!!! This is a first for me and I can't wait for the wonderful experience!!!!
I would love to be part of your street team. I purchase my passporter everytime we have a trip planned. I share the knowledge of the website and books with everyone that I come in contact with. I promote a lot at work. Everytime someone tells me they are going, I ask if they have purchased a guidebook and point them to the passporter.

I love PassPorter! I use it all the time. I recomend it to everyone I know who even thinks they are going to go to Disney. And I have a child with special needs and it helps us plan when to go and what to do. I love Disney and so does everyone I talk to. I have many conections between my work, husbands work church and 2 daycares just to name a few.
Hello,
I would love to help you out. I always get the lastest copy of Passporter for my trips and highly recommend it to others. If I know of someone going to Disney I will buy them a copy as a gift or let them see my older copies. I have several years' of your books and take them on every trip with me. Everyone I know, whether family member, co-workers or neighbors, always comes to me if they are thinking about going to Disney. I will be taking my 20th trip this spring and try to read everything I can about Disney. I have Disney maps framed and hanging in my office and am always willing to help others out. Thank you for your consideration.
That is a great idea! I live in southern Florida, but there are so many people who never THINK of Disney for a weekend trip or even a family vacation - they just aren't aware of all that it offers and it would be so much fun to do this With such a huge senior community, always looking for trips for their clubs to take, what would be better? - It's easy to get to, and they can still say they travelled the "World". I belong to networking groups and am in contact with a lot of people, all age groups, so I have the opportunity to spread the word easily! (Being a Disney fan doesn't hurt either....also had my daughter's wedding there back in 2003!). Passing out Passporter info can take everyone to their happy place!
A dream is a wish your heart makes, and right now mine is dreaming about being one of your selected volunteers. There are 2 things that our family ( me and my three homeschooling tweens) just can't get enough of....books and Disney. Put the two of them together and you've got the Passporter. I'm like a kid in a candy store the day my Passporter arrives. I've got the kids running to the mailbox through the inches of fresh snow, because I can't wait until the sun melts a path. Immediately after tearing open the book, you could find me sitting on the couch with a hot cup of tea (in my Grumpy mug) with the Passporter spread across my lap, post-it notes, pens and highlighters by my side.
I'd been to Disney plenty of times before I learned about Passporter. But since first discovering it at a local bookstore when planning our 2005 trip, I couldn't imagine not having it for any present/future trips we take. But I don't need an excuse to tell people about the Passporter, I already let everyone know. I'm a natural talker (you know, one of those people who needs one of those shirts that reads "I'm talking and I can't shut up"). People who know me, have to come to expect to hear about WDW, our trip and Passporter. Those that don't, learn pretty quickly. When friends, and family are planning a trip to Disney, they come to us (living with my son is like having my own Disney encyclopedia) And every Disney trip recommendation comes along with a recommendation to purchase the Passporter.
I would love to help you spread the word, as would my children. We could actually make it a family homeschool project. Learning all about marketing, people, sales, etc. The children would be absolutely thrilled to know they were helping. They are earning Disney dollars for our upcoming Nov/Dec 2010 trip and this would be a great way for me to reward them. As homeschoolers were are out and about in the community on a consistent basis, always at the bookstore, and having a weekly Disney day (movies, food, games, books, and always time planning with our Passporter).
We hope you'll chose our family to help you spread the word about Passporter. Keep up the great job!!!
I am a retired teacher and my whole family loves Disney. We live in CT but spend our winters in FL - about 5 minutes from Port Canaveral. We have been to Disney too many times to count, visited Disneyland three times and my husband and I are about to take our 3rd and 4th Disney cruise-the Eastbound Transatlantic and the continuing Mediterrean Cruise. Passporter and this site have been our source of so much information. I would enjoy passing out information on our cruises and in the areas we live.We have almost filled out all the answers to the Tresure Hunt book. I would love to spread the wonderful news about Passsporter. I just did the Disney Cruise Party and showed my guests my books which they have since purchased. Spending time in CT and FL would give me the opportunity of spreading the good things that Passporter does. I have been telling people for years that Disney is not only for kids -there is so much for adults to do at the parks, hotels and on the cruises. Since we are so close to Port Canaveral we always go there on Sunday when the ship leaves. I would love to pass out some Passporter cards to all the people that go there. I would be honored to represent Passporter in both CT and FL.
I would love to spread the word about passporter by:
Sharing with coworkers, posting post cards on bulltin boards, checking to see if local places sell it. I have told many friends about how great passporter is, given my old edtions away to friends, raved about passporter to anyone who wants to know more about disney, even helped strangers who were looking lost at WDW by showing them on maps included in passporter where things are while at WDW.
In planning our trip in the future to DL the passporter has been my bible in setting plans of where to fly into, where to stay and where to eat.
I also seem to live in a area of high Disney interest juding by number of disney antenta toppers I see, number of adults wearing disney t shirts and complaining that our disney store doesn't have more adult goddies.

I'd love to. Especially through my blog. If you'd like, I can give you my monthly stats to see if it would be beneficial to you. Most of my readers find my blog by searching Disney related terms- and I attend several Disney related events held in our area.

We would enjoy doing this! We have taken several recent family trips to Disney and were so grateful for the tips and information from the Passporter guide and the boards! That definitely helped us plan a wonderful trip!! Since then, we have purchased several newer versions of the PP GUide and have given our older versions to others who are new to Disney vacationing. We have referred many families to Passporters because we have found it to be so useful in designing a well-suited trip. There is no better resource available!!
We would love to help get the word out in Birmingham, Alabama and help more family find ways to plan a great trip!!

I would also be interested in doing this up here in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I am a big fan of your books! The 2008 edition was my bible when I planned my honeymoon in WDW. As a matter of fact, my hubby kept saying that I should marry the book instead of him...
I would love to spread the word for Passporter. I have used it for my honeymoon and a family vacation my parents just took us on in Dec. '09. We all had our own books and would send each other emails with ideas and what page things were on. So much easier then saying I found this on this website...
Everyone always asks me questions about where to stay or when is a good time to go or start making reservations. If I can't answer their questions I tell them right away about your website/book and tell them it was the best thing I've used.
I would love to pass along postcards, etc. here in Michigan. I currently work at a elementary school with about 675 student k, 1, and 2. Also 60 staff members. I also have 3 other school bldgs, with other grade level children within walking distance. I love disney and try to spread the word to my friends all the time. That it is the happiest place I know. Have a great day! Liz
I would love to help spread the news about PassPorter. We went to WDW and it was a HUGE help planning our trip. I am a Travel Agent and recommend it to any client planning their trip plus it has helped me better serve my clients when planning their trips.
I also interact with many homeschooling families in my area and my children are involved with dance, theatre and sports so I can spread the news in many different settings. We are always at the library so posting it there would be easy. I am also signed up with local iternet news board and I could write a review for our local citizen newspaper too.
I live in the Cleveland Ohio area. Thanks for the opportunity.
