The Stone Family's Magical Adventure including food photos - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great pictures of some great meals! For some reason the last one of the cheese board made me the hungriest. May be because I have a weakness for cheeses.

I'm the same way! I can take or leave a sinful dessert...just give me the cheese plate!
Ok so I think I got my pictures caught up to where my trip report left off........
Monday November 30th
As previously mentioned I told MIL that I would get up and walk with her this morning. Jeff didn't really think I would get up but I did. I woke at 5:30 but really felt as though I had been awake all night. It just seemed like the longest night ever. MIL and I dressed and tiptoed out the door for a pre sunrise jaunt. It was cool but not cold and DARK! We walked the path down to POFQ and I took pictures along the way...course not too many of them turned out to good because it was still so dark. We had a nice time though, walking and chatting.
early morning emptiness in the lobby
Empty and dark Dragon pool
The french Quarter had beautiful Christmas lights.
We walked around and sat and chatted for an hour and then decided to get some breakfast to take back to the room for the rest of our crowd. We went into the Sassagoula floatworks and Food Factory in FQ but really that was fine. MIL got a cappuccino ($3.19) and an order of Beignets ($4.29) I got two croissants for the girls ($2.29 each) and an order of the beignets ($4.29) for Jeff and an orange juice for Jeff. Two bottles of water ($2.50each) rounded out the order. I used 8 snack credits and no cash. Nice! We got back to the room and everyone was still sleeping. I woke Jeff so he could have his breakfast and started to try to get the girls up. The plan was for Animal Kingdom today. EMH from 8-9am so I wanted to get an early start. Remy ate her croissant but Gelsey only had a few bites....she's not a good breakfast eater. Once everyone was ready we headed out to get the bus to AK. Bus service wasn't too bad. I don't think we waited more than 10-15 minutes and the stop was close to our building if we walked out the back. This whole moderate hotel thing isn't so bad. I'm so rigid with always staying at the GF but I was really enjoying the PO! It seemed like we had a whole bunch of stops between us and the AK. There must be like, 5 stops at PO after ours. We went past a few without stopping as there was no room on the bus! We arrived at AK just about 8am and high tailed it back to Kilimanjaro Safari and walked right on...I don't know why I was rushing...there was no one there!
not sure why I got so many of the same pictures on there but the thumbnails at the bottom are good. Sorry! I'm still just completely incompetent on the computer!
After Kilimanjaro Safari we Kali River Rapid and spent some time in the jewelry store near there. Each of the girls got a new necklace. We also met up with characters from Jungle Book and Bugs Life. We spent a long time going through the Maharajah Jungle Trek. Remy was just fascinated, particularly with the bats...UGH, my DD is so weird! She LOVES bugs too! Gelsey was less enthused but she likes the tigers who were all taking naps!
Gelsey was repeatedly making remarks about being hungry so I told her we'd look for a snack somewhere. Our Yak & Yeti ADR wasn't until 12:30. But hey, it was a little after 11 and we were right by Yak & Yeti so I thought I'd ask if we could get in early. They had just opened so the hostess said it would be no problem. We waited in the big throng of people that always seems to be there whenever any restaurant just opens the doors and were seated in less than 10 minutes! I was really looking forward to this meal but I gotta say I wasn't WOWed. I mean, it's not that the food was bad or anything, but nothing tasted as good as it should have. That said, we will probably return here since there is such a lacking of table service restaurants at AK.
Some shots of the inside of Yak & Yeti:
Jeff, MIL, Remy & Gelsey checking out the menus...nice view out the window too!
The secret to enjoying your lunch with a busy body 4 year old? Small cans of play doh and a few cookie cutters. Kept her quite happy and occupied!
Great updates!
But I can't see your pictures! (I think the problem may be that your trying to put more than 5 pics per post-- you can only put 5 pics per post, so just make multiple posts when you have more pics; hope that helps!)

My Entree: Shaoxing Steak & Shrimp. This was pretty good. The shrimp were awesome and i loved the rice. The steak, not so much, but I like my steak rare and you really can't cook a thin skirt steak rare so it just wasn;t my thing...good marinade though!
