It's My Birthday & I'll Eat & Drink What I Want To! TR (Oct23rd-29th) UPDATED 11/4 - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

So, I don't know where I've been, but I just found your TR. . I'm really sorry you got sick - we were looking so forward to meeting up with you, and when Joey said you were miserable on your birthday, of all things, we felt so bad!
Oh well, there'll be plenty of opportunities in the future. I can't wait to read what you DID get to do (and I'm sure Joey will want to see what fabulous decorating you did with all your crafts - he's already jealous of your bling'd out shirts!).
Getting caught up here. So sorry you got sick while on our trip. Seems like that is happening alot these days. Hope you are feeling better now. Looking forward to reading more.

More please!
Thanks Molly. I literally had to force myself to go to our ADR at LeCellier on Mon. I left the fam right afterwards & was passed out as soon as my head hit the pillow!
I know we'll hang out sooner or later, but you know how it is when you get excited for something & then it doesn't happen? That's how I felt about not getting to meet up with you guys!
Joey, jealous of my shirts? Oh that made my day!! I was so proud of my shirt for Mon & then I didn't even get to show it off.
I knew I would have a hard time falling asleep on Thurs night, especially at such an early hour. My FIL was coming over sometime between 4 & 4:15am Fri morning & the whole house was headed to bed EARLY. I usually need to take a sleeping pill to fall asleep anymore, so after I figured out the time I needed to actually go to bed to get the recommended 7-8 hours of sleep I could finally finish packing. Everything was pretty much ready except for our cell phones so I was in good shape!
The alarm went off at 3:45 am and I jumped in the shower. Once DH & I were dressed we woke up the kids. DD ran into the living room with a HUGE SMILE on her face & greeted me with “We’re going to Disney today Mommy!!!” Like I could forget….I was just as excited as she was! A little after 4am DFIL arrived & he & DH quickly packed the back of his truck. We made a quick stop at Wawa to get some cash & were on the road to Philly International Airport in no time.
Once at the airport we lugged our bags to the AirTran counter to check 2 bags. I had gotten (after we had already paid for our tixs) 4 $25 vouchers from AirTran a few months before we left. DH called to get our seats assigned about 2 weeks before our departure date & they used 2 of the vouchers for that fee. That morning, the woman checking us in had a hard time getting the one to work, even her supervisor had issues, but after a phone call to someone, somewhere in the AirTran universe it went through. Woohoo $5 to check our bags. We made it through security rather quickly & smoothly & were off to our gate in no time.
We hadn’t eaten before we left the house so we were all. DH & DSS went off to find something to eat while DD & I stayed with our bags. I was starting to get worried b/c it seemed like the boys had been gone a while when they returned to tell us NOT to eat at the place right next to us b/c as DSS put it “the food is really NASTY there.” OK, thanks for the tip boys (& only leaving us a few mins to find something edible at the airport) I hadn’t realized but it was getting close to boarding time. I took DD & we headed over to place that had bagels, muffins, COFFEE, breakfast sandwiches & a few other yummies. DD didn’t want anything there other than the huge brownie they had at her eye level. So I buy it for her & a strawberry pastry for me & a chocolate croissant for later. I grab her OJ & the largest vanilla latte they have for me . We go back to the boys to eat our breakfast & DH shoots me a look like you are letting her eat a brownie for breakfast?!?! I ignore him as DD turns to me & says “Mommy I want an apple now” I run over to Chickie & Pete’s with her & she picks out the largest apple they have & proceeds to eat almost all of it. After we finish our breakfast we make a quick trip to the bathroom b/c I was NOT going to try & squeeze in the airplane bathroom w/DD again (I am VERY claustrophobic & just me by myself in there is rough!) Just as we return they start boarding the plane.
We are in boarding group 4 and are quickly in our seats (DH & DSS in the row in front of us) and settled into our seats. DD is already a pro at all this flying stuff. Before I have even stowed our bags under our seats, she & Bunny are ready to go!
The flight was pretty uneventful, thank goodness & we were soon on the MCO monorail over to DME! I got all giddy when I saw that the monorail was plastered with MNSSHP clings!! DD looked at me & said “Mommy, are we in Disney already?” I think the clings kinda confused her. When I told her no not yet she replies “oh yeah, we still have to ride the bus with the movie!” I don’t know about you, but I the new DME check in! We were on a bus & on our way to POP in fewer than 10 mins! We were one of the last families to board the bus, but I knew we were the first stop so it didn’t matter much that we couldn’t sit together (DH & DSS were a row or 2 behind us). We're in the Disney!!!!!!
We quickly arrived at POP. As we got off the bus I told DH to grab the carry ons from under the bus & to give the DME driver his tip envelope & I was going to head into check us in. I had done online check-in so I was crossing my fingers that our room would be ready, but if it wasn’t I had packed all the stuff we would need for the pool in one of our carry-ons. There were 2 people in front of me, but the line for regular check –in was at least 10 people long. I only waited a min or two & one of the 4 CM that were handling online check in was calling me over. He had my packet all ready as soon as I gave him my name, but it took him a few mins to print our room keys. He was also all hush, hush on the phone while he was printing them so I was hoping he was making sure that whatever surprise DH had planned for me was going to be there. Hrmph that would turn out to be wishful thinking on my part, but more on that later! A min later he hands me our room keys & tells me we are in the 50’s building (Lady) which was where I wanted to stay, but didn’t request it. DH & the kids had pretty much just settled in to watch TV when I told them our room was ready!
Up next: a room with a view & sweating to the oldies!
